De Gea is an excellent goalie. For someone so young,he could actually be a great signing.
VDS was great, but you had to feel for him, especially when he was going through his personal trauma. He was brave enough to play through it,but his family needs him.
And more over, coogar has been slating him lately. . . grin

slating who?

VDS. grin

Utd's determination to get their summer spending sorted early has been impressive. Targets identified, deals being signed with minimal fuss.

Poor Arsenal continue to be linked with a gazillion players without signing any.

don't be obsessed with what we do at manchester - we have spent money replacing what we have lost or what we might lose. . . .we have not added to the squad we had last season. am i really pleased with the signings? hell-no! personally, the central midfield needs to be sorted out asap. fergie told the whole world is next challenge is to win another european title. . . . .he won't win it anytime soon if he does not sort that midfield.

I'm not obsessed, just pointing out the differences - the signings are quality (Jones remains to be seen) that can fit into the first team and make an impact.

Arsenal have made no such signings, despite potentially losing players (like Almunia grin) too!

Van der Sar.
All that fuss about being weak on the left side.Like Barca weren't going to score against us. . .
@debosky,
Until Fergie signs a midfielder,we haven't started signing anybody. That's where we're most deficient.
We aren't largely impressed by the people we have gotten. . .so we're not gloating about it. . .

I appreciate that, but signing proven EPL players like Young is not a bad thing, neither is signing additional CB cover with EPL experience. Contrast this with Arsene signing a CB who had only 1 year Ligue 1 experience, or a Championship defender. cheesy

The biggest gap (in your opinion) might still need closing, but you've made progress for the overall squad.

i miss van der sar but all good things must come to an end. grin i wouldn't mind if ryan giggs retire as well. enough of the old dogs. let's replenish the squad with young blood. morrison and pogba should be getting some action by now.

Don't get ahead of yourself.
Last Summer United signed three relative unknowns and won the title. We over here felt the squad wasn't boosted enough. You never know what might happen.Signings don't necessarily translate to titles.Ask the Stamford bridge crew about that.
Ther's still 2 months left of transfer activity. We all should hold our horses till then.
On our side,if we don't do the necessary, our signings will still be short of expectations. . .to me Young and Jones aren't exactly waht we need right now.I would have thought the priority would have been a decent midfielder (still waiting news of that) and a goalie (almost done.).But the gaffer knows best. But until the hole in the middle is closed,we can't celebrate, progress or not.It is essential that is done if we're going for another European title. . .

The De Gea deal has just been confirmed, http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/930989/david-de-gea-agrees-five-year-deal-with-man-united.

I'll wait till the end of the window before I start to get worried about the midfield.I'm just hopeful baba can see that huge gaping hole in midfield that we all see and act appropriately.

De Rossi/fellaini/or a similar player to modric would be great thank you very much.

One season wonder IMO - this is the way people were raving over Palacios two seasons ago.

you are a disgrace!

palacios and sandro are better than any defensive midfielder wenger has had since the invincible era. wait a minute, sandro's had a single season in the premier league and he's a one season wonder? who else is a one season wonder? chicharito, odemwingie, van der vaart and who else?

You should read things in context - the one season wonder is in comparison to Palacios, who was the rave of the moment a few years ago , but subsequent poor performances has led to him being so low on the pecking order at Spurs he'll be offloaded to Napoli or PSG soon.

i dunno about you but palacios was successful for spurs. . . . .then he had a family bereavement that sent his form and ambition tumbling. let's even assume palacios failed with spurs, does that necessarily mean sandro will fail? because united bought tahibi as a goalkeeper means vds should have failed? deborah - you are a stinking pillock. grin

Did I say Sandro was unsuccessful? I classified him as a one season wonder like Palacios before him. There will always be reasons why players decline, either because they started drinking shekpe, partying or missing the sunshine in Madrid so that isn't really relevant.

Your inability to understand contextual statements renders you an odious twit. grin

you are one hypocritical twunt! if he's a one season wonder then you expect him to fail next season, isn't it? palacios was good for wigan and excellent for spurs. he lost his brother(i think) in south america and he has never been the same since then. forget shekpe.

That is insignificant to me - his performance at a relegation threatened team is not the issue here.

Ever heard of the word prediction? By comparing him to Palacios I was obviously making a prediction - someone asked what people thought of Sandro and I made a prediction.

Seriously, the level of scumtwat comprehension is abysmal. sad

If you are considering the player as a potential signing, you're clearly looking at his future performance. Who cares about what he's done previously if he's coming to flop?

of course. . . .the sick, the needy go to church more. y'all need deliverance and your dedication is expected to be peerless. grin united just won another league title and there was no celebration on this thread. i have been told there would be an open-bus trophy parade by nairaland gaynners in lagos and london if and when arsenal win a trophy(any trophy) grin grin grin
