 The Temptation of Giving Up

The Spirit's Word: Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12‭

Everyone has gotten to a place of discouragement when things look so bleak and hopeless, and we are tempted to give up. The Scriptures rightly point that hope that takes longer than necessary can weary the heart. We have all been to that crossroad where we make critical and life changing decisions. We have to understand that the Christian doesn't judge by emotions or logic. It is written, ''...and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears''.
Isaiah 11:3. We walk by love, faith and hope. 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Hope doesn't lead to shame as long as you are a believer. Romans 5:5. The Bible calls Him the God of Hope. Romans 15:13. Hope is such a powerful factor in the kingdom. Even our salvation and redemption of our bodies is tied to hope. Hear what Apostle Paul had to say about this: For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Romans 8:24‭-‬25. We are children of hope and patience. Many Christians today readily compromise and have joined the bandwagon of worldly stereotypes, because there is no element of hope or patience in their lives.

The Bible clearly states that we shall reap if we faint not. Galatians 6:9. It is not about how long but Who we look unto. If our anchor is tied to God and His Word, then that is all that counts. Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. Psalms 30:5. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. King David declares that he has never seen the righteous forsaken. Psalms 37:25. I pray the Lord sends His angels of encouragement your way. God is ever faithful and true.

Reminder: Meditate on ''they that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him''. Psalms 126:5‭-‬6.

 Royalty

The Spirit's Word: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9‭-‬10 KJV

We became special the day we stepped into the Kingdom of God's dear Son, Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:12-13. Just like the Israelites, God has shown us mercy by His own will and not by anything we could or may have done. God is sovereign, and unquestionable. He does what pleases Him. Psalm 135:5-6. Now, it has pleased Him to show us mercy and usher us into His domain of light and royalty. In His light, we see light. Psalm 36:9. This means we see all the possibilities we have in Christ and therefore, no more limitations. People stumble in the dark and there is no solution to any problem until light comes. John 9:4.

God has given back the earth to man after Jesus resurrected. We are now kings and priests, to rule and have dominion over the earth. Revelation 5:10. The earth is our domain, and not for the devil. We reign by knowledge, understanding, authority, power and wisdom. It is important to know our identity and grow into our sonship. It is written: For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Romans 8:19. How long is the creature going to wait? Today is the day! Now is the time! We can't keeping reading these scriptures without making the right moves. Prophecy has never fulfilled itself. It is men that fulfill prophecies.

Kings don't live like ordinary men. There is a big difference between a king and the common man. The identity of a king is not in mere confessions and declarations. We don't run and say, ''I claim it'' for such. As it is written, ''Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?''
Ecclesiastes 8:4. The identity of a king is in authority and power. If there is no power to back up your authority, you are just fooling around. We need the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Acts 1:8. I believe people are tired of mere words. It is time to walk the talk, and this is only possible by the power of the Holy Ghost and faith, of course.

Reminder: Authority and power to reign comes at a price. We must grow up to maturity (Galatians 4:1-2), and be a people of prayer, fasting, watching and service.

 Prayer and Fasting

The Spirit's Word: Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matthew 17:19‭-‬21 KJV

We shared some insights on royalty and the need for authority and power yesterday. Authority is in levels, and so is power. We receive power after the baptism of the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:cool but maintain it by prayer. Your level of authority determines the power attainable. Let us do a brief analogy. A one-kilowatt generator can only power a few appliances in a home compared to a five-kilowatt generator, which can do so much more - even five times more. The generator can be likened to authority in the kingdom. However, a generator cannot run by itself, it needs engine oil and fuel, and has to be started. The engine oil and fuel are elements of power. This may not be the best analogy but let it suffice for now. Our opening scripture posits that we must add prayer and fasting to our faith for maximum result. All devils recognize authority. However, some are purposefully twice rebellious and hence, the need to use force or power against them.

Every believer gets the same level of authority and power at salvation, given through grace. It takes intimacy, fellowship, knowledge, and obedience to grow in authority. John 14:23. On the other hand, power is mainly dependent on prayer. This is like adding fuel and oil to your generator to keep it running. Prayerlessness leaves you dry and without power. You have often heard that a prayerless Christian is a powerless one. That is why demons will keep molesting and tormenting a believer that doesn't pray. The things of the kingdom have no substitute. Prayer would not do what tithing would do and vice versa. We must all have periods set apart daily for prayer, even if it's just an hour.

Fasting is an activator, a catalyst, that speeds up the power generating factor of our prayer. Fasting also demonstrates our consecration to God, by remaining untouched by the world. A believer must fast routinely. A believer who doesn't fast still loves the things of the flesh. It's just that simple. The flesh is at war against the spirit, and only one of the two can be the master. Galatians 5:16-17. Hence, fasting weakens the flesh by starving it. This subjects the flesh - bodily and soulish desires, to the Spirit. The desire of the Spirit is to please God. If you are sincerely given to prayer and fasting, with an adequate understanding of God and His will, that's the way to becoming a force in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Reminder: Study the account of Matthew on the Kingdom of Heaven. Grace is free, but authority and power are not cheap. Matthew 13:44-46.

 The Kingdom of Heaven

The Spirit's Word: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Matthew 13:44 KJV

Many believers have not studied the scriptures well enough to discern the difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. Saint Matthew's account emphasized the difference to a large extent. We must know that the Kingdom of Heaven is a subset of the Kingdom of God. It's like the Architectural Department in the Faculty of Engineering. Not every student in the Faculty of Engineering belongs to the Department of Architecture. So is every believer a citizen of the Kingdom of God, but not all are in the Kingdom of Heaven. But what is the difference?

First, we enter the kingdom of God by being born again. New birth translates us instantaneously into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. John 3:5, Colossians 1:13. This is purely by grace. We are convicted by the power of the Holy Spirit; we believe the gospel of Christ that He died and rose again for our justification; we repent, and we confess unto our salvation. Romans 10:9-10. However, it takes obedience, consecration, and sacrifice to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. The opening text states that the man finds a treasure in a field and recognizes it's worth it. He decides to go for it by selling all he has to buy it. This is paying a great price. His entire substance is not to be compared to what he has found. Apostle Paul said, ''I count it all as dung''. Philippians 3:7-8.

What is the Kingdom of Heaven? It is simply put, the business hub of God. A domain where every member does business for God and brings in profit. Jesus told His disciples to occupy until He returns. The New King James Version puts it like this, So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’
Luke 19:13 NKJV. The aim of God is to get all souls saved, and the world is a market place. The enemy is doing his business to take as many with Him to utter damnation, while God has already commissioned us to be ministers of reconciliation to the world, backed up by the Word and power of the Holy Ghost. No matter what you do as a believer, this mentality must consciously remain active in you that your every word and action should bring in profit to God and His kingdom.

Reminder: The fruit of the Spirit, fruits of righteousness, holy living, the dominion over sickness and the world, are all tokens of soul winning. As we minister to the world for men to be saved, our lives are the real message. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, Matthew 5:14-16.

 Say Only What God Says

The Spirit's Word: Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
Lamentations 3:37 KJV

Jesus said we shall have what we say. Mark 11:23. We have been given that authority to speak forth what we want to see manifest in our lives and basically, on the earth. We must also discern the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2. We cannot just run off with any scripture; it must be according to God's reality. If you noticed the topic says we should only say what God ''says'' and not only what He ''said''. God said many things to many different categories of people in the Bible. It takes the mature to establish the will, nature and character of God via His Word. If we say we should say what God said, we can end up in trouble. No wonder Jesus emphasized after teaching them thus: And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Mark 4:24‭-‬25 KJV

We can make real gain of the Word; we can as well suffer loss by the Word. It takes understanding to see the lines that divide. Some Christians like to read the popular books in the Bible, and don't bother to know what God said in the unpopular ones. They put a dichotomy in the Bible forgetting that all scripture is equally inspired by God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. You can't go far with the Holy Spirit if you are this way, neither is the Word going to work effectively for you. God doesn't do that kind of business. There is no bias or impartiality with Him. James 1:17. We must be students of the Word and that entails Genesis to Revelation, without given preferential treatment to a portion. Some believers emphasize grace and mercy, and pay no attention to justice and judgment. They forget that God can never change. Malachi 3:6, Hebrew 13:8.

Apostle Peter admonished newborn babes to desire the sincere milk of the Word in order to grow. 1 Peter 2:2. Let nothing be lacking in your knowledge of God's Word. Only then will you graduate into a son or mature believer feasting on strong meat. The writer of the letter to the Hebrews pens it this way: For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:12‭-‬14 KJV

Reminder: We don't want our labour in the Word to be in vain. And so, to have maximum results in life by the Word and Holy Spirit, be thorough in your search, reading and studying of ALL scriptures.

 The Compassion of our Lord

The Spirit's Word: For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Romans 9:15‭-‬16 KJV

Mercy is a highly popular topic in Christianity, and rightly so! It is one of the most important attributes of God. His mercy endures for ever. Psalm 107. Mercy is receiving pardon and being acquitted, hence we do not get punished for the offence. The Bible says we will be consumed (destroyed) except for the Lord's mercy. That's how extreme mercy is. ''It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not'' Lamentations 3:22. Mercy and Compassion are rooted in the Love of God, the highest point of God's very Nature and Being. But did you notice the above scripture says...because His compassion fail not? We miss this aspect of our Lord, and we focus just on mercy.

Compassion is being able to share in one's pain and suffering. The opening text points that mercy and compassion are different attributes; and they are strictly within God's prerogative (exclusive right). He will have mercy and compassion on whomsoever: the vilest sinner, the most wicked human being, etc. This is a peculiar aspect of God, and as humans, some may get offended by it - especially the ''holier than thou'' old time believers. His ways are higher than our ways. Isaiah 55:9. God's mercy and compassion are meant for only imperfect humans, and not for angels. That's why Lucifer couldn't access it. We are the ones made in His image, and are His children. Hear what the prophet said, ''...and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him''
Malachi 3:17. How can we tap into this great character of God?

We cry out in sincerity and truth to Him about that issue of concern. The heart of God is so tender and loving. Psalm 103:4. He is touched with the feelings of our infirmity. Hebrew 4:15. Once a man didn't have the right faith when he came to Jesus to heal his child. He cried out to the Lord's compassion and got his miracle. Mark 9:23-25. Also, Jesus fed the multitude out of compassion. The scripture says, ''I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat'' Mark 8:2. I have had personal breakthroughs when I just threw myself at His feet in tears, and saw His compassion quickly brought an instant solution. Every Christian has faith already. However, where your faith is not sufficient, God's compassion will always deliver.

Reminder: God is also moved by our heartfelt tears when we cry to Him as children. Ignore those who say God is not moved by your tears. Maybe they serve an unemotional God.

 Praying in the Spirit

The Spirit's Word: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26‭-‬27 KJV

Praying in the Spirit is praying all kinds of prayer. It is a prayer that goes directly to the Father without any hindrance from the flesh or evil realm because the Holy Spirit is in control of it. The opening scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit knows the will of God as it lines up with the mind of the Spirit in that particular time and season. The old testament saints did not have this privilege. Praying in other tongues means only God-to-Holy Spirit communication on our behalf. The devil cannot fathom it, and so cannot do anything to hinder it. The Bible says our minds do not partake in the prayer, it bypasses the soulish realm where the devils can or may have a stronghold, even in the life of a believer. 1 Corinthians 14:14. We are weak when it comes to spiritual things, that is why we were given a Helper in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6.

Some believers have resolved never to pray in the Spirit. Most times it is because they weren't properly taught about it, or they were taught adequately but are ashamed of Christ. Some others are full of pride. Pride is a major factor the enemy uses against us to despise spiritual things. You can reason it out for yourself. It takes humility to see a scripture, however illogical, but still ''condescend'' to do or walk it in. Jesus says we are to receive the Kingdom like little children. Matthew 18:3. Let go of pride. It has never and can never help anybody in life. I challenge anyone to tell me one advantage of pride. Its disadvantages are too glaring and one too many. We must know that God resists the proud but gives Grace to the humble person. James 4:6.

Finally, praying in tongues is tantamount to putting all your trust and hope in the Holy Spirit. Since it is commanded, and we are weak in ourselves, the wise thing to do is trust the One who is called our Strengthener and Advocate, the Holy Spirit. John 14:16 AMPC. Most people have never crossed into the spiritual realm to spend some time there. How then can we understand the spiritual realm better than the One who made it. Most of the prayers done in our own understanding are futile, weak and a product of our flesh and senses. Let's choose the higher way today, and see situations turnaround quickly for our good, and in the lives of those with and around us.

Reminder: The foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom. 1 Corinthians 1:25, Job 5:13, Isaiah 44:25.

Let God take notice of you

The Spirit's Word: And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
Ruth 1:14‭-‬17 KJV

Our God is an extraordinary God and so He takes notice of extraordinary people. Ruth did the extraordinary thing and got her name and legacy recorded in the Bible. She was also an ancestor of King David, and of course, the Lord Jesus Christ after the flesh. Orpah, on the other hand, did not sin. She only took the normal route but missed out on such a great opportunity. Life is way beyond just sin and righteousness. There is so much more we can find in God, and with Him. He desires that we be unselfish, giving, humble and a people of sacrifice. This is what living the abundant life is. It is laying down all for His Name to be glorified. Christians must know that while we are on this Earth, we reap what we sow. Galatians 6:6-10, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.

What was Ruth thinking when she made that decision? She loved her new family, even in death, and was completely not thinking about herself. She was faithful and loyal both in life and death of her husband. Her faithfulness to her husband was faithfulness to His mother. She was free to go her way and remarry (1 Corinthians 7:39), but she chose a higher way beyond man's comprehension, and got way more than she bargained for. Boaz, who was a wealthy and influential man, married her as Kinsman redeemer. Ruth 2-4. The Bible also records that Mary broke an alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume, and anointed the Lord with it. Mark 14:3-9. She didn't have to, but now we are all still talking about her and her extraordinary deed. God will never deny you the honour due when you go the extra mile for Him.

It was also recorded that a woman called Tabitha (Dorcas) died. The people she had ministered to in alms and good works were not ready to let her go; and so they besought Apostle Peter, who raised her back to life. Acts 9:36-42. If not for her extraordinary deeds, no one would bother the Apostle since we know people die everyday. The widow of Zarephath is another good example. If she had not obeyed the Prophet Elijah, the miracle will never happen. In her lack, she was ready to share her last meal with a complete stranger. She received two miracles by that single act. 1 Kings 17:10-24. There are many more similar stories in the Bible and in life, but I decided to focus on the women that left an indelible mark of God in their lives and life's history. Let's be a people of extraordinary works.

Reminder: Having the mind of Christ is the beginning to living a life that is poured out as an offering unto God. Such a life is of high value to God.

 Inquisitive Believers

The Spirit's Word: The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
Luke 16:16 KJV

Our attitude as believers is to constantly learn and discover more and more of God and His kingdom. Knowledge does not fall on people like rain; we search for it. The Scripture above tells us that every man presses into the kingdom. It is not a physical kingdom but a spiritual one, as long as we are on the earth. The only way to press is by gaining spiritual knowledge. We must be Inquisitive enough to keep discovering new things daily. When we have this attitude, we apprehend treasures for our benefit and that of others. Apostle Peter told us that: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2 Peter 1:2. Grace speaks of unmerited favour, blessings and gifts; peace speaks about wholeness, authority and rest. Rest and authority are products of peace. John 14:27. No Christian can exercise authority without first mastering peace which is anchored on faith. The two both summarizes what the believer require on Earth.

The Bible records of a certain group as follows: And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
Acts 17:10-12. The Berean Christians were called noble and honorable, because they received the Word with readiness of mind (spiritual hunger) and also searched the scriptures by themselves to SEE for themselves. They were Inquisitive enough, and hence became spiritual aristocrats, and people of dignity and rank. Christians have the responsibility of distinguishing themselves from other Christians. This is not for competition but to apprehend kingdom realities. Many are called but few are chosen! All run but one gets the prize or crown! Treasures are hidden! The Father expects this from us.

We must be Inquisitive because faith is in levels. We can intensify our belief in the Word (faith in God). Some trees are more deeply rooted than others. A tree can only grow taller and greater in proportion to how deeply rooted and grounded it is. Our faith can grow to a level where no rainstorm or blizzard can shake or discomfit us. We should never ever think we have achieved something but keep learning more about everything in the Word. There is no limit to which we can grow and be established in the kingdom.

Reminder: Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

 Help towards the Brethren

The Spirit's Word: Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:14‭-‬19 KJV

We are in the end of the ages, and as the Scripture says: the love of many shall wax cold, Matthew 24:12. Notwithstanding, a believer ought not to be in that category. We are to keep shining, loving and giving. Matthew 5:16. We can give and not love but we cannot claim to love and not give. Apostle Paul was a tent maker (Acts 18:3), and did not charge the churches where he ministered, 2 Thessalonians 3:8. But in his letter to the Philippian Church, he was already in prison and suffering for Christ. Only the Philippian Church came to his aid when he needed the brethren the most. God is everything; this is true! However, God commanded us to love the brethren and to give, Mark 12:31. Sometimes, we forget that we are still on earth, and co-labourers with God, 1 Corinthians 3:9.

It is sheer hypocrisy to see a brother or sister in need, and expect God to come to their aid while it is within your power to do so. Let's not be deceived. Apostle James said: If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:15‭-‬17. Our believing and faith is tied to our works. This is why God says: do unto others as you would have them do unto you, Matthew 7:12. Many times, we fail to put ourselves in the situation of others. Cheerful giving is one of the benchmarks of our faith. God loves a cheerful giver, 2 Corinthians 9:7. It is His character, and we demonstrate that we are children of God when we do this.

We are to give to all men. However, the Bible prioritizes giving to fellow believers, Galatians 6:10. Many Christians are offended by their fellow Christians because of pretense, folly, bad behaviour, iniquity, etc., they see them display outside or within the Church. Let's not be deceived! Every Christian was once an infidel. If you value the infidel more than the Christian, your brethren, what does that make you? Maybe a rebel? It is not proper. We must not get carried away by our senses. We are to correct one another and never be offended. We are not promoting the bad behaviour exhibited by some Christians. God is our Judge. He has also given us the power to rebuke in love. Galatians 6:1. Don't let any thing whatsoever hinder your commitment to giving to the brethren. It is a sweet aroma, wellpleasing unto God. God commands it, Luke 6:38. Don't let the devil or your flesh cheat you of His blessings.

Reminder: Giving to the most unlikely individuals attract more blessings from God because it takes great faith and love unfeigned to do.

 Shining as Kings and Priests

The Spirit's Word: And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 5:10 KJV

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philippians 2:14‭-‬15 KJV

One of the ways we reign as kings and priests is by shining. Whatever shines has light or a good reflective property. We already know we are lights. Matthew 5:14. People are attracted to light. But the devil has blinded the eyes of so many. 2 Corinthians 4:4. However, to shine requires that we be blameless even though we are in the midst of a crooked and fallen world. We have been empowered to shine; to live the life of Christ here on earth. One way we do that is by avoiding murmuring and disputing. A king or priest is a territorial and spiritual ruler and authority figure respectively. Any King caught in the act of murmuring must have an identity crisis. What does he expect from his subjects or followers?

As king-priests, we are leaders and must lead by example. Many look up to us as sons of God. Let's not forget that it is not in the character of God to murmur or be found disputing. God destroyed His own people, the Israelites, in the wilderness because of this. 1 Corinthians 10:10. Murmuring and disputing is a fruit of severe doubt and unbelief. Let us rather bear the peaceable fruit of righteousness in order to be accounted worthy of the title conferred on us by our Lord Jesus Christ, through His precious blood. Don't be like some who have resolved to go with their own opinions rather than God's. Such can never please God. You have power over your mind and actions. Live the life we have be given more abundantly.

Reminder: A true king-priest learns about the King of Kings who he or she is subject to, and follow His footsteps in all things. 1 Peter 2:9, 2 Corinthians 4:6-7.

 The Mighty Deliverer

The Spirit's Word: Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.
Psalms 135:8 KJV

Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the Lord , Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
Isaiah 49:24‭-‬26 KJV

God calls Himself the mighty One of Jacob in the scriptures above. He demonstrates His might against our strong enemies because it takes a contention for anyone to be delivered. The enemy won't let off easily. There is a difference between might and power. Zechariah 4:6. Might is strength or force in battle, contention and against resistance. It is the ability to prevail against the adversary. The scripture shows us how God displays His might. The adversary is contended with, subdued and held bound or taken captive. Luke 11:20-22. Power on the other hand is dynamic supernatural ability to cause supernatural changes; like a maimed limb growing out or the one who was born blind that can now see. Miracles are mainly a display of God's power, while deliverance is a show of God's might.

In the battle against the gods of Egypt, Pharaoh and his host, the Lord used mighty signs and wonders, until the whole of Egypt ejected the children of Israel. Deuteronomy 26:8, Exodus 12:33. There is no resistance strong enough that the enemy can muster. Hear what He said: Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Isaiah 54:15. Does it matter how many they are? The Lord has delivered us already by virtue of our redemption. This is a legal reality. Colossians 1:13. However, in the kingdom, we contend and war against the enemy to see a manifestation of our redemptive rights in Christ. Ephesians 6:12, Deuteronomy 2:24.

Someone may ask, why did it take 10 plagues for the Lord to deliver the Israelites from Egypt? Everything the Lord does is for His glory. He gave Pharaoh many opportunities to submit to His sovereignty, and at the same time to demonstrate His might. God is so merciful and just, that even the enemy has a spiritual cup that must be filled before the Lord rises to the prey, because He has a set time, which is a day, for His judgment to be executed upon the enemy. Genesis 15:16, Zephaniah 3:8, Jude 6. Are you held bound by the enemy in any area of your life? Keep calling upon Him! Cry unto the Lord, and don't stop. Luke 11:5-8, Luke 18:1-8. God is not deaf to your cries, pleas, requests, supplications and prayers. Remain faithful in it and He will suddenly arise on your behalf. Psalm 68:1-2.

Reminder: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me ..., to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim ... the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isaiah 61:1‭-‬2.

 God's Judgment is at Hand

The Spirit's Word: For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1 Peter 4:17‭-‬18 KJV

Mercy rejoices over judgment. James 2:13. This is true and valid for this dispensation we are currently in. Mercy is ever preferred over judgment is what that means. However, the scripture clearly states that there is a judgment day. Acts 17:31. In that day, mercy would have expired. There is a time for everything under heaven because our God works with times and seasons. Ecclesiastes 3. Let's not be deceived by the notion that we can be saved and live as others. God cannot be mocked. Galatians 6:7. God clearly warns that we should be unspotted from the world. James 1:27, Jude. Look at the opening scripture: the righteous, believers, ones who have made Jesus their Lord and Savior are scarcely or hardly saved. This is because they did not live for Him.

The proof that you believe in a thing is when your actions line up with it. If your actions are consistently different from that belief, then you really don't believe. Our words, confession and profession must be backed up with a corresponding action. This is why Apostle John warns that we must love not in words but in truth and in deed. 1John 3:18. Judgment means giving to everyone according to their works. It is still synonymous to sowing and reaping. Let us know that God has not changed his stand on disobedience. The soul that sins shall die. Ezekiel 18:20, Romans 6:23. For us to know how serious God is concerning judgment, He begins with His own people as an example to the world. There is the sinner or unbeliever, and there is the ungodly or godless. The Christian must not be found in the same act as perpetrated by them under that category.

The book of Revelations show us that, to overcome and get the crown is by our works. Grace was only mentioned as a prayer or something to receive or be imparted with, in order for the saints to do the righteous works of God. This is a delicate and serious matter the Lord spoke to me about. We are very close to the end of days where the things revealed in the book of Revelations have started playing out. Revelations 6. There are only two destinations for all men: heaven or hell.

Reminder: The time is almost here. Consecration to God is what qualifies you to see Him on that day. Hebrews 12:14, Matthew 5:8.

 Spiritual Preparation

The Spirit's Word: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:4 KJV

Preparation is a vital factor that must be incorporated in the life of anyone that would be great. It involves adequate planning and organization based on knowledge. Proverbs 24:3-4. There is always an expectation for everyone, and it will only take the right preparation for it to materialize. The above scripture talks about the 10 virgins who waited for their bridegroom, of which five of them were wise and the other five were foolish. On the arrival of the bridegroom, the foolish ones, who had no extra oil in their vessels, missed out on the wedding ceremony. Lack of preparation, or even, inadequate preparation is costly. The enemy influences many in this area with the spirit of slumber which causes laziness, spiritual blindness and procrastination. Laziness is a terrible thing (Proverbs 20:4), and so is procrastination (James 4:17). Many have failed to realise God's plan and purpose for their lives, and so, are in this endless vicious circle of uncertainty and hardship.

Rest is the goal of every believer. We cannot enter into rest without sowing the seed of preparation. Hear what the Apostle said: For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest...
Hebrews 4:10‭-‬11. A man that has entered into this rest has received the blessing like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did. Spiritual preparation is knowing what the will of God is from His Word and Spirit which we have, and doing it, as touching any area of concern. Many times, the promises of scripture take time to materialize, but we must never give up. The virgins all slept, which means that it took a while for the bridegroom to arrive. Sleeping is only permitted in this kingdom when you have prepared enough. After all, the Lord gives His beloved sleep, Psalm 127:2. This is a wisdom key.

Failure is the result of a failure to prepare, except by God's Providence, mercy or intervention. We must also know that we can't wait on God without the necessary preparation. The Lord instructed Moses to get the Israelites well prepared for His visitation; sanctifying them and all other rituals involved. He gave a very stern warning about this. Exodus 19:10-13. Perhaps, your lack of spiritual encounters have been as a result of lack of spiritual preparation. We must always have this oil in our vessels, because when your lamp goes off, it spells darkness; and darkness is the devil's playground.

Reminder: Let's consistently do all that the Scripture commands, because our day of visitation is around the corner.

The Advantage of the Holy Spirit

The Spirit's Word: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 7:8‭-‬11 KJV

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11:13 KJV

The scriptures above are similar except that Luke's account replaces ''good things'' used by Matthew with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is everything the believer needs on this Earth. He is the Spirit of God, and the third person of the Trinity. He is not an angel. He is the Divine Executioner of God's will on Earth. Jesus could do no mighty works on His own. Acts 1:8. The Holy Spirit is our advantage, and if we would befriend Him, and secure His voice and leading; we have ceased from our toils and seemingly endless labour. We must understand that He is the Gift in this current dispensation. Can you just imagine having God as your Ally in this world of darkness and so much troubles? We must do everything possible to receive the Holy Spirit into our lives and make Him the dominant One, and not our flesh.

Every star in the Bible had the Holy Spirit as an Ally. He is the maker of men and women of stature, wisdom and exploits. Some Christian denominations do not bother to emphasize His importance. This is disheartening. We cannot afford to do without Him. Jesus is not enough to know about! Yes! Jesus had to go and send Him to us. Why would you think Jesus is enough? Don't get me wrong. Jesus has played His role and gone to heaven to be with the Father. He has been glorified by the Father. If Jesus would commission us to go into the world and be a witness for Him, but warns that we must also go with the Holy Spirit; who are we to neglect Him. Every believer must evaluate his or her life in accordance with the Holy Scriptures. Things may look good today and you feel that's the way it's going to remain. Without the Holy Spirit, you stand no chance against what life will throw at you. Life is always throwing stuff at us, but we overcome by the Spirit. Zechariah 4:6.

The Holy Spirit is the source of the Anointing. The Holy Spirit is not the Anointing, but the source of it. The Anointing is the measure of His ability in you. Ephesians 3:20. We can grow in knowledge, grace, peace and the Anointing. Our knowledge of God and His Word; obedience and love content towards God and man determines the measure of the Anointing. King David grew in the Anointing; Jesus also grew in the Anointing. This may look unscriptural but if you consider Jesus' raising Lazarus from the dead, and the other two people He raised, you would understand that He also grew in the Anointing. Let's not forget He was purely a man while on Earth. God is not a partial God. Jesus is our example. Get intimate with the Holy Spirit from today by praying according to the Word and Spirit, studying, meditation, stillness, fasting, and most importantly recognising and appreciating His Presence within and around you.

Reminder: Intimacy with the Holy Spirit starts with desiring and staying with the Word of God after being born again.

 The Believer's Cry

The Spirit's Word: Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
Psalms 28:1‭-‬2 KJV

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Psalms 61:1‭-‬2 KJV

The scope of a Believer's authority is over the devil and his demons. Luke 10:19. The Lord Jesus has given us the power to cast them out at will. Now, we don't cry to God to deliver us from them. All we need is to learn and know how to exercise our authority over them. However, in other matters of the kingdom there is a place of crying to God. Intercessions and supplications require that we cry to God. Luke 22:44. A genuine cry is a heartfelt communication when out spirits touch the Spirit of God. King David cried to God in his days as a demonstration of his hunger and desire for God. He was a man after God's heart, and knew the secret to touching the Heart of God. Acts 13:22. Someone may ask, why should I cry unto God, after all, He is our loving Father?

Man on Earth is faced with so many distractions as a result of what we are surrounded with. There is so much pollution around us that fight to make our reaching out to God futile. Our flesh distracts us; our minds distract us. Even the will and desire to pray is always resisted by the aforementioned forces. We are in a fallen world (Psalm 82:5), and God doesn't plan to redeem this world but bring a new heaven and Earth. Revelation 21:1. This shows us the extent of damage done by the fall. Make no mistake that God just wants to see us cry. No. Rather, a genuine cry is a force that breaks these barriers to receiving answers to our prayers. King David had victories like no other. His heart for God was tied to His love for God. You can't love God with your head or mind, but your heart which is your spirit. We must understand that every faculty within us as spiritual beings has its place and purpose.

Apostle James said: ...The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
James 5:16 AMPC. We shouldn't fake it. Can God be deceived? This is why it is important to grow in your love for God. Ephesians 3:17-19. King David was a phenomenal character. No wonder Jesus came through his bloodline and also took up his name - son of David. And because of His love for God, He was anointed three times, and had the Holy Spirit within him. Psalm 51. He was also a Psalmist, King and prophesied a large aspect of the Messiah's coming. A heartfelt cry unto God will always bring about a swift response from Him.

Reminder: Our hearts and mouth must be in sync in order for it to be heartfelt.

 Lowliness

The Spirit's Word: For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
1 Corinthians 4:7 KJV

Pride is a grave sin before God. The antidote for pride is humility or lowliness. Pride can be very tricky. It can easily sneak into anybody's life. Some people put up a false humility which is pride in disguise. We must be very careful as I have realised that pride is one spirit that can come through any aspect of one's life. It can come through good physiological attributes, social connection, intellectual proficiency, economical endowments, overzealousness for God, self-righteousness, etc. We could be doing all it takes to live a righteous life that is pleasing to God, and still habour pride towards others who are far behind us in this regard. Knowledge also, is one great entry for pride because knowledge puffs up. 1 Corinthians 13:2.

The Bible declares that one of the constituents that make up the worldly sins is the pride of life. 1 John 2:16. A love for worldly exaltation. Even the systems of the world do not promote lowliness. For example, what is the purpose of a first class and business class tickets on an aircraft? The reason may be first genuine, but it is a channel that pride uses. God is no respecter of persons. Acts 10:34. But mankind likes to differentiate in order to elevate and denigrate. This is all a lie of the devil. His heart was lifted up and he fell to the lowest. The end of any prideful person is a fall. Proverbs 16:18.

Lowliness is the way to the top. God saves the humble person. Job 22:29. He is also drawn to them. God, who is Almighty, is humble enough to relate with His creatures. Who are we to look down on another? This is a critical subject as many believe they are humble. We should never approach humility and pride from a general perspective, rather we must ask the Lord to show us the areas in our lives where the enemy may have exploited. It is simple. Look at your strengths and weaknesses. How is your relation towards others in areas you feel competent enough? We must keep it as a prayer point for God to keep us humble always.

Reminder: God resists the proud. This means He Himself opposes them. Think about the fall of Lucifer! Pride is not with harbouring.

 Righteousness Emphasized

The Spirit's Word: For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17 KJV

All men descended from Adam who sinned and made us all sinners. But the Believer is descended from the second Adam, who is Christ. In Christ, we have been made righteous. The Scripture above tells us it is a gift. We are carriers of the DNA of God. Before we were born again, we couldn't do any righteous deeds because our DNA was of the devil. Hence, any good deed could not be accepted by God. He called it filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:23. In the old covenant, God only rewarded acts of righteousness based on the law. They were not accepted but rewarded because of the old system. Jesus' death and sacrifice is the only acceptable offering to God. Because of Him, we can offer up to God acceptable offerings. Romans 12:1.

Now, God doesn't punish us or curse us. He sees us through the blood of Jesus Christ. We're now His offsprings and citizens of His Kingdom. As citizens, we have to go by the culture of our new kingdom. Sin is not a lifestyle of Heaven. This is where many Believers get it wrong. When we live the new lifestyle of righteousness, you won't be rewarded or blessed for it, because it is your new nature. I don't see any country rewarding any citizen for being a law-abiding citizen. It is what is expected of every citizen! This is why Apostle Paul asked: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:1‭-‬2. It is fundamental to know that sin has no power over you. However, if you obey sin, you make it your master. This can only bring about corruption and death. Romans 6:16-23.

God has nothing to do with the corruption and death that sets in when you yield to sin. God only speaks from His own point of view. This is a line we must draw as Believers. God has called us into righteousness and holiness. 1 Thessalonians 4:7. We have been justified by grace and received the gift of righteousness, but the Holy Spirit is still the Holy Spirit. The blood of Jesus justified us but did not make God tolerant or accommodative to sin. Our righteous deeds are fruits of the seed of the gift of righteousness sown into our lives the day we believed. Don't let the devil deceived you into believing it's all right to keep striving and struggling with sin. You now have God's nature and are way above the filth and corrupting influence of sin. Live the new life in Christ and keep entering new realms of grace and glory. If you're a believer that struggles with sin, know that God doesn't condemn you but the enemy wants you that way so he can gain inroads into your life at will.

Reminder: Keep learning from Scriptures about your new identity, and how much authority you have been given over these things.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32 KJV

 Taste and See

The Spirit's Word: O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psalms 34:8 KJV

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:
Ecclesiastes 11:7 KJV

Our Lord Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings. Malachi 4:2. He is the Light of the world: the Light of all that be. John 8:12. Even the devil who disguises as an angel of light uses the light of God for his deception. 2 Corinthians 11:14. In case you didn't know, Lucifer was once the son of the morning (Isaiah 14:12); the Light bearer and shining one, when he was in heaven. No wonder the Lord said He would cause a fire to come out of him to devour him. Ezekiel 28:18. God is Light and Light is the very substance God is made of; the essence of God. 1 John 1:5. Truly, Light is sweet like the Preacher said under inspiration. Nobody ever encounters light and turns away from it. Everybody needs light, even the devil; no wonder he goes about to steal every good thing (products of light) from men. This is why Jesus said he is the thief. John 10:10. Light is true life. John 1:4. Light is revelation. John 1:9. Light makes men great. Isaiah 60:1-3. Light is the first thing that matters. Genesis 1:3. Angels and spirits in heaven are made of light. Hebrews 1:7, Psalms 104:4. Wisdom, Understanding, knowledge, etc., which are manifestations of God's Spirit, are all lights. Light is uncreated.

Think about all the sick that were healed by the Lord. Multitudes trooped at His feet. They said, He has done all things well. Mark 7:37. Light attracts. Light comes into a place and the power of darkness is shattered. The enemy knows this power. This is why he keeps men blind. 2 Corinthians 4:4. The Light is truly shining in the world, but many are spiritually blind to see it. One of Jesus' missions is to open the eyes of the blind. I tell you the truth and lie not! If only you could see the light. Many of us have seen it. No one encounters divinity and settles for humanity, or even worse, carnality. Light is truly all that matters, and God is Light; Jesus Christ is Light. 2 Corinthians 4:6. Light manifests itself as fire. John 5:35. This is the aspect of light that torments the devil and his demons. They want every other aspect of light except the fire. Believers have the life of God, which is the light of God. Stir up the flame and fire ( 2 Timothy 1:6), and the adversary runs when no one is pursuing. Proverbs 28:1. Taste and see Jesus! Make Him all that matters. Truly, we can never know all there is, but start from where you are now!

Reminder: Light is all that matters! Start trusting God more than ever before.

 The Love Seal

The Spirit's Word: Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8 KJV

The first time I came across the Scripture above, I pondered it so hard and realised that Love is the reason for all that God does. He created us for fellowship in order to demonstrate His abundant love towards us. The love of God has been lavished abundantly in our hearts. Romans 5:5. His love within us empowers us to love one another. The old covenant was based on laws because the love of God could not be poured out into our hearts. Man was still dead in his sins. Now, Jesus has restored all things according to God's original purpose and so, we can love without struggling or difficulty. Love is the root of God's plans and purposes.

We must see it from God's perspective. We cannot love anybody without first drawing from the well of His love within us. God told the children of Israel through the prophet thus:The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
Jeremiah 31:3. If it's not rooted in His love, it's all dead. It doesn't matter what we do, it has to be founded on love. Everything works by love. We no longer have to keep any laws. All that is required is to see everyone through the lenses of God's love.

Grace, mercy, faith, hope, judgment, humility, righteousness, and other attributes of God have their foundation in love. His holiness is a totality of all this attributes. Howbeit, there is no holiness without love. We must continue to grow in love in order to be filled with the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19. Enoch was translated because He walked with God. Genesis 5:24. His walk with God was so intimate that the earth could no longer harbour him. Jesus said of Himself, that Satan finds nothing in Him. John 14:30. When we live like God by walking in His love, it is the highest calling. We are thus, operating in the highest realms of divinity.

Reminder: Until we stop seeing it as a mere commandment and start living it as God's own way of life, we may never understand the glory that lies within it.

 Get to Work!

The Spirit's Word: Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
John 4:34‭-‬36 KJV

Jesus' words were always fascinating. His disciples were caught off guard in comprehension on so many occasions while He conversed with them. I still wonder why He uses wordplay and symbolism, even after His resurrection. Praise God! The opening text records the Master comparing soul winning to physical food. What did he mean? Let's know that Jesus will never exaggerate because it is not in His nature or character. Exaggerating is tantamount to lying. Truly, the will of God as regards soul winning is more important than our daily food - the basic need of a human being before clothing and shelter. Jesus testified that he came not to destroy men's lives but to save it. Luke 9:56.

We cannot preach the gospel without bringing to the fore the danger of hell. If everyone would take a day to just think and reflect on the horrors of hell and the lake of fire, I believe many would make up their minds about this precious salvation. Jesus used 30 years to prepare for a three-year ministry. This speaks volumes. He went about proclaiming this Gospel with complete self abandonment that He didn't care for physical food. He wasn't concerned about any earthly posterity or treasure. He knew that the real world was in the spirit. Soul winning is the most important work for a Believer. This is the heart of God we are talking about.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9. Here is the reason why the Lord keeps delaying that Judgment Day. In God's heart, He wants and desires all men were saved. Heaven rejoices over one soul won. I have also found that there is so much joy within me when I bring in a soul into the Kingdom; joy that no physical food can match. When I'm out to win souls and encounter some folks that hold on to religion, I always tell them that religion will not be mentioned on Judgment Day. It is all about Jesus; and salvation is personal. Your parents or guardians may handover religion to you because it is no different from tradition. However, the Gospel of Christ Jesus is a completely new life and nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Reminder: Every prophecy about Jesus came to pass; everything He said about His death, resurrection and ascension came to pass; every work He did was supernaturally and miraculously backed by God with mighty signs and wonders. Why do you think the coming Judgment would be any different? It must surely come to pass.

 A Hundredfold

The Spirit's Word: Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.
Genesis 26:12 KJV

And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear...But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:8‭, ‬15 KJV

A hundredfold yield is a possibility as stated in the Scripture. We are children of Abraham like Isaac. Galatians 3:29. Isaac sowed in that land in the midst of famine as instructed by God, and he reaped not just any kind of harvest. He got the best that God had to offer him. A hundredfold typifies a perfect whole or complete best. Jesus earlier mentioned a thirtyfold or a sixtyfold harvest before a hundredfold. Comparatively, it means good, better and best respectively. It already cost God the blood of His only begotten Son. He is more that ready and willing to give us a hundredfold blessing, only if we are ready. The earth belongs to God. Psalm 24:1. The gold and silver belongs to Him. Haggai 2:8-9. All flesh including the beasts of the forest, and the cattle upon a thousand hills are His'. Psalm 50:10-11. He didn't spare His love Son but gave Him up for us. He will definitely lavish the best of anything for us, His children. Romans 8:32.

Jesus, however, gave a condition for this kind of harvest. We must sow on a good ground. There are two things: where and how. A good ground is a good, honest and sincere heart which is a fundamental requirement for anyone that comes to God. God is always drawn to sincerity and innocence. 2 Chronicles 16:9. God is the all-wise God. We should never approach Him with pretense, guile or our own agenda that is outside His will. It's a round peg in a square hole; it can never fit. Our hearts must be thoroughly prepared before we approach Him, and we do this by searching our hearts and motives. Whatever doesn't line up with Him should be cast out. We must be like little children. Mark 10:15.

We must never take away diligence and hardwork. Grace did not come so that diligence and hardwork would go away. If you don't sow you won't reap. If you don't water it won't grow. This are principles of farming and likewise, the Kingdom. We must play our part in the process and wait with patience. Only God can cause it to bud and bring forth or increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6. A nonchalant attitude can attract the enemy. We must never give him an advantage. Hear this: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Matthew 13:25. Our hundredfold harvest depends on us and also, on God. However, God is constant and without a shadow of turning. James 1:17. He's always ready and willing, but are we?

Reminder: Romans 12:1-2 instructs us on what to do with our bodies and minds in order to be pleasing to God. How we yield these aspects of us determines whether we get the good, acceptable or perfect will of God which stands for a thirty, sixty or hundred fold respectively. Not yielding at all will get us nothing.

 Turning from the Lord

The Spirit's Word: If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:6 KJV

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
2 Peter 2:20‭-‬22 KJV

The Gospel of Christ is complete. It is the good news to all men. However, some will not believe. But for us that believe, it doesn't end there. The verses above is a warning to believers who turn from God. It says their end is worse than the first. This is not talking about just sin. Jesus already paid for our sin. We are grafted in when we believe, but when unbelief sets in with the believer, there is danger. When the Lord is no longer in your thoughts or you get offended in your Lord over whatever and choose to neglect Him. Who can then save such a person? It would be wise to take serious heed to this warning from the Lord.

We may not like the subject. It calls for a serious resolve to never let anything turn you away from your precious Saviour. Make no mistake that it is a possibility. I may not know anyone who has but I have heard and read of so many cases. When you go back to the world and love the world, it is a sign you are forsaking your Lord. You can't love the world and God at the same time. James 4:4. When you lightly esteems spiritual things, you are on the edge and only the grace of God can come through. Hebrews 12:16-24. Apostle Peters refers to it as a dog returning to his vomit. Dogs are symbolic for uncleanliness in the Bible, and no dog shall enter into the Kingdom. Revelation 22:15.

To avoid falling for such, we must keep our eyes on the Lord irrespective of what is happening. Hebrews 12:2. We must also appropriate His cleansing blood daily in our lives. We have been forgiven once and for all, but we have to be cleanse continually from the corruption we face daily. Hebrews 9:14. Even if we sin, we must never leave it late to talk to the Lord about it. Let him that thinks he stands take heed in order not to fall. We won't fall away in Jesus' Name.

Reminder: How we live matters a lot to the Lord. He watches over us daily. Be Christ-conscious always.
