surecan: Please for those in Germany, how many years residence permit will be extended once you arrive in Germany for those going for 2 years master program.Thank you Already looking ahead lol. You would be issued a residence permit after 3 months of arrival, which will be valid for a year. Though there are claims that those with scholarship are issued a two-year residence permit. |

Generally, for those planning to study in Germany, you would be better-off if you grasp a bit of German, say A1 level before traveling to Germany. Asides relating better with the locals, you certainly can seek scholarships and even loans as knowledge of German will always be a prerequisite. Furthermore, you get to save money (more expensive learning deutsch in Germany than in Nigeria, plus you can put your pocket money to other use) and probably time. As for jobs, "they" say it's easier to get student jobs in the west of Germany, so you might want to consider that while applying to universities, but have in mind also that the cost of living is also higher... That notwithstanding, if you NEED a job (whichever city you might choose) you will definitely find one especially if you are skilled (e.g IT or Autocad skills); language only becomes an issue if the job requires you to render services to people. 2 Likes |

You are right. Jobs are easier to find in the south/western part of Germany than the Easter or northern part. Also English is widely spoken in the south/west region. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hi everyone, I'm studying in North Cyprus and i intend to further my education in Germany...However, i want to know, if I apply, will i be given back my passport immediately or do I have to submit it? I will have to go to Turkey to apply as i cannot apply for student visa to Germany in North Cyprus.I will be giving less than a month Turkish Visa. However, if the Visa process exceed a month, then I will be an illegal resident in Turkey. |

That is the first criteria for ur student visa and if you do then you will need to open a blocked account,Deposit of at leats 8000 euro which u will use ur admission letter to process the account once its opened then you can now book an appointment with the embassy for interview. After the interview I think ull hear from them fter 3-4 weeks or thereabout if ur visa is approved or no. 1 Like |

Thanks Flange, I'm completely capable of meeting the criteria for the blocked account. If it takes just three weeks, then it's fine....but if it is more than, then there is problem because for now, i can only apply for one month Turkish visa and if it expires while my passport is still with the german embassy, i will be an illegal resident in Turkey. Will the embassy hold my passport down before approval or will i be given back my passport immediately after the interview? |

Neither the child nor the parents become German citizens. One of the parents must be a German citizen for the child to qualify for citizenship. This is not the USA. naijaobi: 1 Like 1 Share |

children born in Germany to non-German parents may, under certain conditions, acquire German citizenship. These conditions are as follows: One parent has to have lived legally in Germany for at least eight years prior to the child’s birth and be neither an EU citizen entitled to freedom of movement, an equally entitled citizen of an EEC member state, a Swiss citizen entitled to freedom of movement, or the holder of an EU residence permit or a settlement permit in accordance with the ResidenceAct. 2 Likes 1 Share |
