Remi Tinubu is being bred for that role,

Actually, she is being groomed for the position of Deputy Governor. So that by 2023. She can become the first elected female Governor in Lagos and Nigeria. How do I know? I have put myself in Tinubu's shoes and can think in a way that is similar to his. I do that a lot.

GBAM! Knowing Emperor Ashiwaju Tinubu antecedent and lack of primaries before handing 4 tickets to his own family members.

Do you have a problem with that? Same way the Biggest democracy George H Bush 2 sons became governors

Four years is too long in politics, ACN might implode and all sort of things might happen. Tinubu is no diffrent from PDP except that at least PDP 'conduct primaries'

Primaries that produce Alao-Akala,Obanikoro, Omisore etc as aspirants? We would rather have Fashola, Amosun, Ajimobi, from imposition than have Akala, Obanikoro, Omisore and Olurin from primaries

only 1 and that one person is GBENGA ASHAFA.
Simples!
Banire is tired of public office and he has gladly
stepped aside, he is touted for a Senatorial seat
alongside BRF and REMI in the next dispensation,
barring unforeseen circumstances.
Agbaje in 2015? lailai . . .
Mamora ke? he doesnt enjoy as much goodwill
but he is not free-ly giving . . .
Solomon is a major power broker but thats
because he holds his zone tight, Tinubu and
himself have gotten into too may roforofos already
and I doubt Tinubu will allow him have his way
this time, plus WHAT DOES GOS have to offer
Lagosians that will better what BRF would have
done?
The major issue is: will BRF survive the impending
impeachment saga that is bound to rock Lagos?
well . . .the reason why Kolawole Taiwo was made
Deputy Speaker is quite obvious, u can imagine
prior to the inauguration Tejuosho was touted to
become the 1st female Lagos speaker, but things
move at frenetic pace in Lagos politics these
days . . .

@hannie, kindly xplain what you mean by the obvious with regards to the election of the deputy speaker, why do they want to impeach BRF when he is just starting his second term, what happened to Tejuosho that she could not be made speaker again and I was intrigued by the return of the former speaker, as for GOS he might be a grass root man but am not sure he has what it takes to govern a city like Lagos, Mamora is ok but not xceptional he is just there nothing special will come from him, as for Mrs. Tinubu no comments remb. SDP and NRC well that could just happen if she is imposed on Lagosians, Agbaje seems ok but, as for Banire it is good he is tired he should go and rest
, As for Ashafa let's even see what he can do before we start putting him up there.

2015, Is not tomoro so let watch the political landscape for a while, all the permutations above can easily change don't forget it happend at the federal level GEJ and Yar'dua, even though we are not praying for that kind of change.

@Pro01

who cares about whether Ashafa is smiling or not . . .

is it not what y'all said about BRF then?

of all the people on this thread only Dayokanu and myself were resolute in our belief that BRF would deliver  . . .how time flies!

u guys need to stop mentioning names of people who are tired of holding strenuous political offices like the Governor's . . . .Banire himself has said he is tired, the guy has spent 12 years a commisioner already . . .Solomon CANT do the job as he is bereft of landmark ideas that can surpass BRF's . . . .Agbaje is all mouth, I am yet to see him outdo himself, what are his antecedents?

even Agbaje's pharmacy hasnt undergone any difference, why would anyone think a contractor like Jimi Agbaje can get the job done cos he has oratory prowess?

I think you have personal disdain for Agbaje, if not you wouldn't question his suitability for the job. How else do electorates all over the world choose their leaders if not on the basis of the candidates' "oratory prowess", persuasiveness and personal appeal? The issue of antecedents is neither here nor there; even the now celebrated BRF, what were his antecedents prior to becoming governor. . .other than serving as a rather obscure Chief of Staff to Bola Tinubu? Jimi Agbaje is an accomplished pharmacist and businessman; I really don't know what kind of antecedents you want him to bring to the table other than his personal competence/commitment, and the well-crafted and impeccable blueprint for development that he so articulately presented to the electorate in the course of his memorable campaigns in 2007. And don't forget that one doesn't necessarily need to be a technocrat to govern effectively; it is more important to be an inspiring, charismatic, graceful, firm and focused leader. These are atrributes that Agbaje obviously possesses. He is articulate (a sure sign of mental acuity and coordination), vibrant, knowledgeable, visually appealing, calm and collected, and self-motivated. These qualities make him tower head and sholders above the clumsy and insipid elements that are currently being touted for 2015 governorship.

A character like Ashafa, as someone rightly suggested, is reminiscent of the discredited Amala and Ogufe breed to which jesters like Alao Akala also belong. Hanging such an 'albatross' on the neck of progressive Lagosians would certainly be retrogressive, and might erode all the gains of the Fashola years. If we've taken 2 steps forward under Fashola, we certainly don't need to take 20 steps backwards under an Akala-ish character like Ashafa. If not for  'mukemuke' political considerations he shouldn't even represent Lagos in the Senate to start with. Lagos state needs a bright, inspiring personality in the Alausa round-house, not a death-faced gargoyle like Ashafa.

its so sad for ACN. how can one man decide the fate of a political party. they should learn from PDP and conduct primaries in an open ballot system. ACN should learn from PDP & APGA. no party supremacy anymore. tinubu even imposed a new deputy on fashola. l wont be surprised if his wife remi contests as next governor. the senate is a stepping stone for her.

FASHOLA SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CHOOSE HIS OWN SUCCESSOR JUST LIKE BUKOLA SARAKI DECIDED AGAINST THE WISH OF HIS STRONG POLITICAL FATHER AND EVENTUALLY WON. TINUBU CHOSE FASHOLA AGAINST THE WISH OF MANY IN 2007. FASHOLA IS NOT A PUPPET. l see a cold war looming between fashola and tinubu come 2015 over the next lagos governor

How can that be democratic if Fashola is simply allowed to choose his successor?and would that makes him any different from Tinubu?
A primary would be held and the winner should be supported.shikena.

Well Kudos to posters here for all the permutations. But hey! do u all think it is any smart to be doing all these calculations at this early hour?

It would amount to total myopic reasoning when we begin to think that the political status quo will maintain till the next four years. I bet it with you, noooo, the chances are very slim, unless we want to decieve ourselves like we always like to. Dont you know that ACN has enjoyed popularity for this long easily because they were not really in power apart from Lagos.

Now that they are fully in power at least in S/W then they will need to do a very hard work and maintain clean sheets in all those states. If we begin to have issues of corruption or political blunders in one or two of those ACN states at anytime, that will definitely draw down the popularity of the party and the perception of people towards them at the end of 4 years would not be the same again.

I know Nigerians, by then, they might be putting all of their trusts in another party, hmm, lets say Labor party for example because it is also a small party that is yet to be polluted. So why not wait and see the ACN do the magic first before exhausting your energy on all these brainstormings?

Just like OBJ decides for PDP, Tinubu decides for ACN. Have a problem with that?

they should learn from PDP and conduct primaries in an open ballot system.

Learn from PDP, This is hilarious, PDP primaries that produced the worst Governor -Akala, Murderer Omisore, Thug- Obanikoro, Useless- OGD. Really learn from PDP, If you are concerned why not leave ACN alone and go join Bode Tewonde George in his party of criminals. I laff in PDP   grin grin

ACN should learn from PDP & APGA. no party supremacy anymore. tinubu even imposed a new deputy on fashola.

Tinubu imposed the best governor in Nigeria FASHOLA in case you have forgotten. So we love Tinubus imposition.

l wont be surprised if his wife remi contests as next governor. the senate is a stepping stone for her.

Not a problem, George Bush made his son Governors of texas and Florida in the biggest democracy in the world

POLITICAL FATHER AND EVENTUALLY WON. TINUBU CHOSE FASHOLA AGAINST THE WISH OF MANY IN 2007. FASHOLA IS NOT A PUPPET.

See the irony, FAHOLA should be allowed to CHOOSE a succesor and Tinubu has done wrong by choosing? Read that, Does it make sense to you?

l see a cold war looming between fashola and tinubu come 2015 over the next lagos governor

Na only cold war, why not Cold beer? This one you are seeing multiple things, you better see a Specialist soon.
Re: Lagos 2015: Acn Searches For Fashola’s Successor. by lastpage: 9:39pm On Jun 16, 2011
ACN is NOT actually winning because it is ACN!

Take 1999, ACN won by "sympathy votes" from mainly the Yorubas.

Everyone agreed that PDP was dominated by those who killed Abiola and that most of the Campaign for Democracy (CD) and Afenifere members where in A.C.
So, they voted Ac in 1999.

In 2004
, OBJ's parley with the Northerners, his choking strangle-hold on Lagos Budgetary funds for the Local governments ensured that the S/West peeps saw ACN as the "opposition party" and still voted ACN.
On basis of "real Performance" Tinubu would not even smell a second term with all his "Toronto and corruption" somersaults.

In 2007, No one really knew Fashola that much except that he was part of the Tinubu cabinet!
But at that point, the PDP had been so bastardized, especially with OBJ's attempted Third Term failure that even if Bingo my dog grin had been made the "opposition party" candidate in Lagos, it would still have won!
Anyone or any party apart from PDP would still have won. So ACN was voted for massively in 2007.

But the equation changed dramatically after then!
Fashola started with a very "obvious drive" for excellency!
Within a short time ( l will say within 15months) people could point to a few positive things he has done in Lagos and there were numerous "on-going" projects especially in the areas of Road Infrastructure, Oshodi clear-out and beautification, the construction(to enviable standards!), the Mushin- Agege Motor Rd axis, The Ojuelegba-Ikate and Odo-Eran Roads, Roads in Mainland areas like Old Yaba Rd, Olonode, Simpson, e.t.c.
At a point, when he (Fashola) kicked against the unbridled corruption of Tinubu, who has made himself "an extortionist Mafia Boss" in Lagos, collecting "percentages" from LGA chairmen, cornering the Tax collection business using his proxy company (Alpha Beta), his monthly deductions from Lagos state budgetary allocations, and the list goes on.,.,.,.Tinubu began a massive bribery campaign and as we are all to familiar with the "power of corruption", he used money to incite the House Members to begin some fathom impeachment proceedings against the Governor!
Somehow, Fashola caved-in and "Olu-omo" continued on his frenzy of corruption and let Fashola be!

In 2011, ACN would have lost Lagos election.
Remember that PDP was the party to vote-against?
Tinubu reared his ugly head again and there was a time when "text messages" were being circulated on the Legislative elections. The AIM was to ensure that "Tinubu-sympathetic" Legislators who can be bought with money, were not voted-in the House! The end-game was to ensure that Tinubu's supporters are not in the majority within the Legislative Assembly.

Again, if we look at the undemocratic way Tinubu forced his family members down the throat of the party, one can understand why people will not vote ACN in the near future.
Why did the ACN-CPC alliance not win in Lagos state during the Presidential election, if the party was that popular in Lagos?

Point is, ACN won in Lagos Governorship election because Fashola was its candidate. People voted for Fashola, NOT ACN!
In like manner, PDP won in Lagos during the Presidential election because despite lagosian's dislike for PDP, THEY VOTED FOR JONATHAN! Not PDP!!

In short, his performance within 4yrs ensured that even if he "decamped to PDP", (or any other party for that matter), that party will win the Governorship seat of Lagos, as long as Fashola was their candidate.

So, in future9 2015), dont take it for granted that ACN will win Lagos, especially with the over-bearing influence of the so-called party leaders who are turning themselves into "Tin-gods" and "selecting their children and girl-friends" as party bearers.
With the way the party is being turned into a "family party" expect the Unexpected to happen come 2015.

Meanwhile, if Fashola should step-up his game and please the state as he has done in the last 4yrs, it could mean that people from other parts of the country would prefer him for a Presidential candidate, irrespective of the party he chose to spring from; As it is, Tinubu will not let ACN rests until he destroys that party. Just watch!!

Just my Take on issues.

@Lastpage

not a bad way to look at things . . .well said!

Its sad that we have too many uninformed people who just love to dish peppersoup and kaikain gist once a thread is on the homepage . . .

The realities on ground are that THIS IS WHAT TINUBU IS PLANNING:

In the West Sen. district, BRF is going to replace GOS when GOS's term finishes in 2015, I know this as an insider . . .

for Central sen. district, Remi will automatically continue her 2nd term in 2015 . . .

ASHAFA will contest for elections as GOVERNOR of LAGOS STATE . . .

BANIRE is not gunning for any appointment again FOR NOW as he is already the National Legal adviser of ACN, he will replace ASHAFA as the next Senator representing EAST Sen. district .

all these are the present Tinubu permutations, any other is UTTER BUNKUM and IRRATIONAL BALDERDASH . . .

The other side of the coin is if Tinubu gets the house to impeach BRF, all these permutations will change and LAGOS WILL TURN INTO A WAR-ZONE.

The reason why Tinubu 'left' BRF to go for the 2nd term in the 1st place was because he knew BRF HAD OUTDONE HIM IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS EXCEPT IN SPENDING.

The catch, however is this, BRF was alleged to have done some under-g with Labour Party, it is expected that Tinubu would want to pay back, whether he will succeed is a different matter for MATTHIAS to resolve . . . grin

For all those of you yapping tosh about ASHAFA . . .ASHAFA is a very good man, a very responsible person, sound mind and for all u might say CHARITABLE to a fault . . .that is the language the masses actually know, explains why Tinubu still holds the ace in the SW.

I dont need to allow myself get dragged into talking about Agbaje . . .isnt he the same person that got N150 Million as compensation 2 days after losing to BRF? The money was even paid via his GTB APAPA account . . .when u want to talk about certain people dont yap here . . .WE KNOW THEM grin

You Lagosians are poor for a reason and will remain poor because your brains have been fried by the Lagos heat.

You are saying Ashafa should be the next governor even though you have no insight into the guy's brain, Well let me school you on his history.

My mum used to work in the budget ministry in Lagos state and she tells me of how Ashafa used to come and beg just to have his proposals approved and he was basically a poor man.  Then all of a sudden when Tinubu became the governor in 1999. he was appointed as the Permanent secretary of the Land Bureau and the looting began.  How many stories have you read about how he and Tinubu looted the Lands bureaus and stole all your money together.  On this same site, it was detailed exactly how those guys robbed Lagos and even Ashafa threw a 50 million naira wedding for his son Tosin, who is a friend of mine and I was at the wedding.  The Ashafa  that used to beg to get minor proposals signed is now a multimillionaire over night because of Asiwaju. LAGOS WAS ROBBED BY THESE GUYS but yet Ashafa is being mentioned as the next governor candidate.   angry angry angry angry

Also Tinubu gave Ashafa a senate seat so that he can groom him for the 2015 seat and in doing that, he made a well renowned senator Mamora give up the senate seat.  Even opposition parties cried foul because Mamora was well respected in the National Assembly.  This is what Tinubu is cooking and Ashafa is a puppet to him because he made Ashafa rich and gave him a name and they are even friends, so Lagosians ask yourself do you want another Tinubu puppet in the governor's seat after all the good work that Fashola has done?  Tinubu will run Ashafa like a remote control and change will stop in Lagos.

The man for the job is GOS (Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon) who is the highest ranking ACN party member in the whole of Nigeria.  Tinubu doesn't want this guy to be the Senate Minority leader because he knows how powerful Solomon can become so he chooses Akume and says its because he doesn't want ACN to be  a regional party (Bullshit).  Solomon has been local government chairman, house of reps, and is a two time senator who favors the nation over himself.  Tinubu even said it himself that GOS is more concerned about the people's welfare than any personal gratification.

I end with my favorite quote "My people perish because of their lack of knowledge".

only 1 and that one person is GBENGA ASHAFA. Simples!

Banire is tired of public office and he has gladly stepped aside, he is touted for a Senatorial seat alongside BRF and REMI in the next dispensation, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Agbaje in 2015? lailai . . .

Mamora ke? he doesnt enjoy as much goodwill but he is not free-ly giving . . .

Solomon is a major power broker but thats because he holds his zone tight, Tinubu and himself have gotten into too may roforofos already and I doubt Tinubu will allow him have his way this time, plus WHAT DOES GOS have to offer Lagosians that will better what BRF would have done?

The major issue is: will BRF survive the impending impeachment saga that is bound to rock Lagos? well . . .the reason why Kolawole Taiwo was made Deputy Speaker is quite obvious, u can imagine prior to the inauguration Tejuosho was touted to become the 1st female Lagos speaker, but things move at frenetic pace in Lagos politics these days . . .

Your lack of intelligence is astounding and I don't blame you; i blame the education system in Lagos state.  You are wrong on so many points that I don't even know where to begin with you.

1.  So the man for the job is Ashafa, a man that has only been in the senate for 20 days and had never held any political post whatsoever?  You are so stupid that you can't even wait for him to prove himself as a first term senator.

2.  Then you ask what Solomon has to offer Lagosians that BRF does not already have?  So because Solomon cannot be better than BRF although he stands the best chance, we should choose a guy who hasn't even been in power of any kind for more than a month.

3. Solomon was the senator of the year in 2010 and the post is below before you open your stupid mouth.

"THE Chairman, Senate Committee on Capital Market, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, has earned himself another laurel that speaks of his activities as a politician.
The witty lawmaker, whose achievements as the Chairman of Mushin Local Government sailed his ambition to become a House of Representatives member and a Senator, has been honoured in a Celebrities Nite-out  award,  with the Senator of the year 2010 award.
The recognition award, which is the concept of some influential organisations to reward and identify with people and corporate entities that have contributed to social and economic development in Nigeria, has achieved fame with the standard by which they choose the recipients of the awards.
Senator Ganiyu Solomon was awarded for his successful representation of the largest Senatorial district, Lagos West, in Nigeria.
The Lagos lawmaker is a grass roots politician and a socialite. "

Please explain to this post why Ashafa is better qualified than GOS and try to do that without making yourself sound stupid.

You are probably working for Ashafa and could care less about the welfare of the state if he does become elected (HE WON"T).

First of all I was not paid for this job and I'm just a concerned Lagos resident who wants the best for the state unlike you.

Below is an excerpt from an article about the ongoing situation with Solomon and Akume over who should be the Senate minority leader and if you read it, you will see my point about GOS being the highest ranking ACN official in the senate which in turn makes him the highest ranking ACN official in the country since they have no one in the Federal government and the senate leader and speaker of the house are from PDP.  So get some facts before you say rubbish.

" Order 3(2) "b" of the Senate rules states: In determining ranking, the following order shall apply: (i) senators returning based on number of times re_elected, (ii) senators who had been members of the House of Representatives, (iii) senators who have been members of a State House of Assembly or any other Legislative House; (iv) senators elected as senators for the first time.

While some within the minority caucus claimed ignorance over the choice of Akume, outside the minority benches, the choice is being met with incredulity. Akume joined the ACN from the PDP few weeks to the April National Assembly elections and was picked ahead of Senator Ganiyu Solomon, the most ranking senator in the ACN who was earlier endorsed in a straw poll by senators-elect from the minority parties.
