Fellow Nairalanders,

IN THE EVENT that WAR breaks out between Niger Republic and Nigeria over the Successful military coup in the former, which Military do you think would win. Nigeria or Niger??

The current Gun Firepower Index shows a significantly weakened Nigeria military.

Niger Republic would find alliance in Chad, Libya and enjoy sympathy of established terrorist groups, jihadists and Northern Nigeria.

Should Niger Republic be used to test the Firepower Index of the Nigerian military?

Please let's analyze and proactively prepare..

Niger Military vs. Nigeria Military !!!! ... Who wins ?

they could be under the shadow of russia,"there was a country"

The issue on ground would not lead to a war between the Nigerien army and the Nigerian army.

Rather, it would be the Nigerien Army vs the AU Special Forces.

And we all know how that would end. The Nigerien Army would be decimated.

But considering the humanitarian crisis that wars always create, I doubt the AU would be interested in going to war against Niger. They would just simply sanction the country.

Sanctioning the country would be much easier to do for sending notice to the Nigerien army than going to war against it.

Since Niger is one of the poorest countries on earth, an economic sanction would force her military to quickly cooperate with the AU.
But is even the sanctions necessary? This coup seems to be rather like a revolution against the colonialist backed government. It seems to be popular with the people of Niger. Why must we tow the like of France, USA? Have you noticed Africa has recently gotten leaders resisting western manipulations and rather focusing towards China, Russia, Asia generally where we seem to bave fruthful mutual relationships? Places like Mali has faced insecurity from fulanis and Arabs for years, cumulating in them almost over running the capital yet you had the French military on ground, even denying them arms to decisively deal with the issue. Why? Devide and rule? As in let us plunder them while they are distracted by militancy. Mali had a coup, brought in Russia that gave them arms and Wagner that instantly drove out the islamist!, placed them on the run. The Chinese and Russians are now there exploiting.
Are you aware before France gave francophone countries their independence, they had to sign an agreement, ensuring their external reserves, central banks have to be domiciled in France. The French must control their monetary policies, set their exchange rates. Have vetos etc.
Anyway there is heavy sentiments against western foreign powers in francophone countries.
Have you heard the president of south africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda etc speak recently? Africa is waking up.
Imagine the west sanctioning African governments over us refusing to be gays?
Anyway, we have more pressing issues in naija, and Mr president should face our affairs, leave Niger to sort out it's self. Which petrol or troops, arms does he want to use to force an unpopular government in Niger? Sanctions? Who are we to santion anyone? We closed borders against Benin, ghana etc, have they not learned to live without us?
Some say kamila Haris was alleged to have called and demanded naija put an end to the Niger issue. What validation does Mr president need from the US?
US that refused to provide arms for us at the peak of the Boko Haram war. Instead Russia and China came to our aid.

Nigerian military is far better than it was with better weapons
You may be right. Better weapons.
But based on the issue of insecurity we have had in the last 10 years plus, do you in your opinion think our military could achieve what was done in eg Sierra Leone, Liberia in the 90s.
As in deploy, create a beachhead with the naval landing crafts in hostile territiry, deploy covering fire from the nns aradus etc of the past. Landed into air strips, fields, deployed naval combatants, paratroopers, secured the place then had compliments of alpha jets deploying. Not to talk of our gallant troops lead by generals that were front line combatants in the field. Please read of men like general kobe, Malu etc. Bros, I doubt we have such people currently. (might be wrong though). Do you know how many times kobe took injury on the front line? Infact such complications lead to his untimely death. Till today that man is a hero over there.
Who is Boko Haram to have faced a Nigeria army of those days, where soldiers has balls so huge when they walk bow leg go de. grin

Niger Military vs. Nigeria Military

Another senseless post on NL.
Do you think Niger will actually declare or accept to go to war?

Let’s be reasonable with what we post online.
Even if you are the General that plotted the coup, will you go to war

Niger
16 Aircraft
12000 Active Personnel
0 Tanks
0 Naval Boats
$287m Budget

Nigeria

Where is the Bokoharam? How many villages have they invaded?

Bandits/Bokoharam issue mostly have to do with slow response time of police and other agents as well as low intelligence gathering to fight unconventional warfare where the criminals have informants amongst the people due to low education/poverty and radicalism.

The moment Bokoharam comes out openly as a unit with their headquarters positioned to fight the army, they would be flushed out in a matter of hours. This is not 2014.

However, I do not support using force on Niger ever.

Real war is more complex than we think. No body knew it would take Russia this long to annihilate Ukraine. But look at what is happening today. It's wrong to think that Nigeria will finish Niger in 5hrs. That's not to conclude that Nigeria does not have the capacity to defeat Niger anyway.

Ukraine had been fortified by western powers for 7-8 years before russia attacked! Ukraine had the largest army in Europe aside Russia b4 2022.........In fact russia had to build up her own forces b4 they had guts to attack last year....please research b4 posting!

That's what I'm saying. If there is war, no one should mistake it as ECOWAS vs Niger because the ECOWAS would be mostly Nigeria.
This is why Nigeria should never allow a war. I am simply saying there is no ECOWAS in this context. It's Nigeria in disguise.
Stop talking nonsense. ECOWAS is about 5 or 6 countries, not a must for you to write a topic. Are you jobless?

I thought as much.
Those francophone countries have seen it and that seems to be why they are getting rid of western support and choosing the Russians and Chinese.
How can the US have troops, drone bases, French have troops, aircrafts, Germany, Italy and the rest are there yet the terrorist have free hands.
See the US refusing to sell arms to us during GEJs tenure, not until Russia came to our aid and later the south African version of Wenger.

Anyone thinking Nigeria will swoop in and instantly defeat Nigér republic is a fucking dunce.

First question sef is how receptive will the civilians be to foreign powers in their land? That'll probably be the thing that mars or makes the whole thing.

How would travelling outside Nigeria help anyone know the might of Nigeria's military??

Who travels and still thinks about them?

If for anything, travelling abroad will make you realise how barbaric, unprofessional, unskilled, poorly equipped and poorly motivated the Nigerian military officers are, when compared to those abroad.
