The real question is: Is Nigeria a state?
Can you give what you don't have?

Can a " a mere geographical expression" be qualified as a state?

Nigeria is a failed state, anything is touches turns to dust, Ojukwu is better off embalmed in Biafra.

If does fools at the Senate are not careful, Ojukwu will actualise Biafra in his Death. It is like dey don't know that Nigeria's expiring date is due and 2015 is just a deadline.

What you just said is what I was trying to pull out of the mouth of some of the people who are posting here, particularly muyoto who seems to believe that the request for state burial is a formal one by Igbo people.

A senate where it is said that the senate president play pranks with the microphone like a naughty kid in the kindergaten to distort briefings that could table serious allegations that will implicate his associates in crime. Is that a gathering of men of honour? A country where traitors like tinubu smelling of treasonable guilt but walk out exonorated as a result of rogue justice system. Is that a country?
Re: Senate Rejects State Burial For Ojukwu by Librate(m): 9:56pm On Dec 01, 2011
we the UMU-OKORO IGBO can handle the burial we dont need uncircumsized almajiri or noisy ngbatis to support us
so the senate should stop the ranting cus we dnt need their state burial we have better plans
thank you

See ya mouth

So the next time you apply for visa to the US, fill in ''mere geographical expression'' or, better still, Biafra, as your country of origin.  tongue

What you just said is what I was trying to pull out of the mouth of some of the people who are posting here, particularly muyoto who seems to believe that the request for state burial is a formal one by Igbo people.

from the same article:

The former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, who spoke on behalf of Southeast elders, insisted that the national honour must come before Ojukwu’s burial, adding that such recognition coming after his burial will be unacceptable to Ndigbo.

though Dr Dozie didn't explicitly mention the state burial thingy (Obi did), it could be assumed, since he was part of the entourage to GEJ, that he was very much in support of it.

My question though: had the senate agreed to a state burial for the reverred leader, would you guys be towing the ''Nigeria is not a State, so cannot perform a State burial'' line?

you know, grapes tend to be sour when beyond one's reach. . .  lipsrsealed

Bluetooth, the more you speak to me, the more I suspect that you have short-term memory loss.

@muyoto; If you read, a number of Igbo here on NL are against any kind of "state burial" for Ojukwu, myself included. Learn not to make such grand assumptions.

^^^Everything about Ikemba Nnewi just gets you hot under the collar doesn't it wink? You're such a pathetic juvenile johnny-got-no-life, that you spend -what ordinarily should be- valuable man hours trying to make your puny inconsequential Igbo-hating voice heard on any thread relating to Igbo progress/issues.

Don't get me wrong mate: long may it continue grin grin, but try devoting at least half of your surfing time towards issues in the South West that could move your people forward. Who knows, maybe when you get fulfilled with the lot of your people, you'll feel less bitter and preoccupied about Igbo affairs, hence your downward spiral into the abyss of schizoid paranoia would be slowed a bit if not halted. Take a cue from your fellow Igbo-hating bigot eko ile: he seems to have struck the balance i'm talking of, and even though he's as thick as a plank undecided, at least he's not lost the plot completely like you have wink.

Ciao.

All I know is that Igbo elites are desperate to justify their political leanings toward the Nigerian federation. The youths of Igboland are very angry and these Igbo leaders know.
So, what they are trying to do is to take the matter beyond the youths by securing a Nigerian national honor for Ojukwu. But I think the whole thing will fail because Ojukwu is now beyond their style of politics. He has transcended all these nonsense.
So, in a way, a Nigerian national honor for him would almost ruin his legacy. Maybe some day when Nigeria must have implemented the ideals of Aburi and secured true equal rights for every citizen, only then would Ojukwu not be tainted by a Nigerian national honor.

If Ojukwu were still alive, he would reject it like Achebe did! cool cool

Col. Ojukwu must be buried while rapped in a yellow sun.

Who cares? You can bury him under your bed if you like or burn and scatter his ashes all over your village, that's your damn problem.

You are here talking as if burring somebody in iboland is something special. Shebi Zik was berried in iboland? What happen to his grave-site?

You loud mouths have him sleeping with rubbish, lizards and reptiles. All you people do is run your mouth, but you never put your your money where your loud mouth is. We all know whats going to happen few months from now, SEE ZIK.

How do you even suggest bestowing a national honor on some rebel who not only never believed in Nigeria to start with, he led millions to their death to prove that point. Are you people mad or insane?

Agreed esp the bolded.
Re: Senate Rejects State Burial For Ojukwu by OneNaira6: 7:13am On Dec 02, 2011
Who cares as if Igbo or Ojukwu asked for a state burial. If Ojukwu was alive, he would have rejected the idea himself.  Read his will, he did not want to be buried in Nigeria.

Lets thank the Senate, Dalu senate!Nigeria expired date just decreased to maybe 2-3 years more. grin grin grin grin grin grin

Aboki Mechionu gi. The same expiring date USA specified on Nigeria. Nigeria is already a failed state. What joy would we get in hoping for a failed nation to fail.

Take a look at Nigeria, what is good about that nation?

What is not happening. has fresh elections been held? In any case, 2015 will be the end of Nigeria, that if it does not happen earlier. Neither hausa/fulani nor igbo presidency will stop it from happening.

The only condition is cessation of any form of killing by hausa/fulani in Northern or any part of nigeria for that matter. If you guys still want Nigeria to exist you must heed this warning, or else . . .?
