By Taye Obateru

Jos – Jubilation, today greeted the suspension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) among residents of Plateau State.

Students and parents who reacted following the announcement of the strike’s suspension rejoiced over the development saying it ended the frustration of idling away at home.

Some of the patents said they were unhappy seeing their children sitting at home while the strike lasted and thanked God that they can now go back to school.

Also rejoicing over the development are entrepreneurs who are into one business or the other at the university who said the strike had virtually thrown them out of business.

They were happy that they would be able to return to their businesses to earn a living and prayed that the strike should be the last.

Meanwhile, the University of Jos has announced the resumption of lectures by Friday.

Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the institution, Mr. Steve Otowo said hostels and lecture halls would be open immediately for normal academic activities to resume.

Re: Jubilation In Jos Over ASUU’s Suspension Of Strike by vichenzo: 10:29pm On Feb 02, 2012
ABDULATEEFLAWAL is right. i am no muslim neither are my a boko haram extremist, i also in no way support the incessant bombing by boko haram. but will you punish every muslim for the sins of a few CRACK HEADS? NO! i have many islamic acquaintaces who are dissapointed that this sect of barbarians, use the holy Quran as a form of justification for their heartless and ruthless killing spree. So it will be grossly unfair to judge every muslim because of this, and it is such a pity that boko haram do not realise the extent to which they endanger not just other muslims, but the northern region as a whole.

Quran can easily be bent for evil. whether you like boko haram or not, they all claim to be doing the bid of Allah and they have verses from the Quran to support it.
Never will any Religion could be manipulated for evil. And the situation is same all over the world.

This vanguard reporter shows how lazy he is, he never tell us in his report the places he visited to witness the jubilation, he must be an arm-chair reporter and by the way what is our so-called students jubillating for? They have become so lazy and inactive, they must wait for their lecturers to go on strike on their behalf. What sort of 'students' are these? In the era of military regime in Nigeria, Great Nigerian Students of those days dare the khaki boys! Nigerian students in those days stand up for the masses. Now these 'students' cannot even face a WEAK Jonathan Government. What a shame. Nigerian students wake up to your responsibility!!!
