Reason is that both fruits are believed to cause contraction. So it should be avoided. So eat water melon, cucumber, apple, oranges....green vegetables....

2. Folic acid should be taken everyday till u meet ur LO. U also need ferrous tab for iron, u need blood right now so don't play with that. Folic acid and ferrous tab once a day was how I took it. But some doctors give more than once a day. Ferrous is our usual tiny red blood medicine and b-complex. Folic acid is very important, pls don't skip it for a trillion dollars. It helps to prevent Spina-bafida (donno warit iz, buh doesn't sound cool)

Yes a baby pillow is necessary but not compulsory.
As for d baby bed/net, I would say you never knw d nature of ur lo until you have him/her! Some babies don't want to sleep alone no matter how hard you try! My first baby slept in her cot for months,this new one now refused ooo.she sleeps beside me but during d day when we're not in d room, I lay her in d bed with net cos I can't move d cot all about! So just go for whichever you feel you are ok with.
As for d breastpump, there are manual ones that are affordable. For feeding bottles avent,tommytippee and boots are ok! though some babies don't like tomee tippee! Pls don't iinvest too much on these things just buy ones with fair prices

2. I am contemplating ditching this net and foam kind of bed and buying baby bed at once and buy mosquito net...which one will be better especially at protecting my baby from mosquitoes? Wouldn't want to buy both....

3. I intend doing EBF, but don't have money for breast bump this month again. Any need buying feeders now or I just wait till i have money for the breast pump ? Which brand of feeder do you have good experience with and will readily recommend?

Try Ergobaby 360 or Ergobaby Original. It can be used for so long (some say 4 years, lol) and it's good in distributing the weight around your body. Dunno where to get it in Naija though.

To those mums who skip folic acid! In fact every sexualy active woman should be on folic acid 4mcg daily.


Spina bifida occurs before a woman even knows shes pregnant! That is first six weeks! Many things can cause it but it can be prevented by taking folic acid daily before conception or immediately a missed period.

The most severe form is the type pictured below.

The spinal cord doesn't close up completely and this May result in physical disabilities.

Sadly folic acid will not help if the harm has been done already.

The effects is managed through a lengthy and costly therapy.

You can buy one or two newborn size and the rest can be bigger.
I've packed away all Hansel's newborn size sleepsuit. At 4weeks, his legs were already folding inside.
So to save money, you can buy more of 3-6months size.

Select the first set of clothes you want your baby to wear, and inform the nurses before dem go wear am the okrika clothes o.

@liftedhands, after begging and begging to come and carry snail, you still cook am, chop, lick finger without keeping my share.

Do you still clean the incision site with spirit? How often do you view it with mirror?(this helps to know how fast it's healing up). I still clean mine with spirit once in three days to be sure nothing.

Pls take care of that site to ensure germs don't grow there.

Use spirit to clean it like six times daily since you noticed pus.

For the opening, run fast to the hospital.

I do o. I clean it with cotton wool and spirit every morning as they instructed me at the hospital.

My dr placed me on folic acid and ferrous tab as early as 6 weeks, so i'd say yes - u can start taking it now. However, it's always better to confirm from your doctor first before you start any medication, so that he is aware of what drugs you are taking.

-I bought next's 3 in 1 sleep suit. . Written 9months on the body..
-Another 3 in 1 sleep suit with 0-3, 3-6 & 6-9 as the content.
-Carter's bodysuit, 5 in 1 ..written 6months on the body.
- two new born outing wears..
Three baby shoes (made with cotton)

Please what clothes do I need to add to my list? Do I need to buy fine polo and trousers now? Sweater nko? (How many and sizes)..

No worries about flannels, bibs, socks, caps, face towels, mittens Etal, got those ones in large quantity. .. my worry is with the clothings, what more should I buy?

Then about comfit pad, got 4 packets which is what's written on my hospital list.. do I need to buy some for my personal use(after delivery) or ordinary pads will suffice?
