Ohhh, was about to do a serious blog post on this (and it's going to be so raw and emotional, I don't even know if I can share it) . Because I'm not a fast lactater (is that even a word), so I tried everything on the planet (including classes and drinks, pumps and herbs, food and more). You won't know about your milk supply before you give birth. But the most important thing is AFTER you birth: your emotional stability. Trust me. At the end of the day I believe "Fed is Best" and I like to encourage Mums to breastfeed as much as they can and supplement with formula if baby needs it. Just get your foods ready, remember you should do your best and sometimes your best is giving your baby what he/she needs.

Please what is the FED in Fed is best?, i saw a page like that on facebook. I tot i was the only one who didn't lactate very well, it came as a surprise to me cos I never heard of it. Having asked all and sundry visitors then what I could do and nothing worked, i peeped into NL too and tried. All mums started lactating well while I didnt know what was wrong. I googled and it said malnutirtion (i eat good food, so ruled out) and hormonal imbalance (maybe I shd av done some hormonal profile but since doc didnt go there, i also didnt bother), I now feed lo his formula with pride. Very traumatic indeed, Ive waited 7 years before I got my first BFP ever, then this? I judge lesser now, you need to walk the shoes to understand really.

And on waiting for breast milk to come after delivery b4 introducing formula, baby could end up with severe jaundice if not feeding well , speaking from experience, glucose water didn't help matter o. I visited a new mum last week and she told me the pediatrician advised her to introduce formula fast fast on day 2 post delivery if BM isn't well established.

BM is good, but where BM isnt enough, my motto is supplement so you don't starve the baby

is this what u were talking about? Sorry I usually don't go tru this mention thing nd I avnt come on nairaland for a while...anyway the jumbo sheabutter I used it nd stopped...I didn't really knw if it was working, bcs my baby's skin was always breaking out... Infact I stopped using coconut oil or Shea butter or the jumbo sheabutter on my baby bcs I didn't understand her skin anymore... It was like she was reacting to all of dem...den I decided to try the Johnson baby cream I bought and it turned out to be nice...noticed she had a dry skin so the Johnson baby has been awesome ever since maybe I will try and use it again wen shes older but for now its a no no...

It hasn't been easy taking care of a hyperactive toddler and a demanding baby,may God strengthen me.
My fellow team #April 2017# hope we and our los are good? Hope they are sleeping, eating and playing well? Be reminded about our third TT injection to be taken 6months after the second one, I took mine in December and due for the next one, so my fellow teamies calculate when you took the last one and remember to go for the third, note that if you take the five doses complete you are covered for life whether you get pregnant after or not. So pls let's endeavor to go take it in this month.
Some of us didn't share our birth stories haba pls share and let others learn one or two things from there,even if they no learn share for the fun and joy you brought to this beautiful world its well ooo.

Don't do that missionary style. your uterus will be resting on the vein that's carries blood from your lower body to your heart. It will make you feel dizzy. (Spooning) Lie side by side with him behind you. The penetration will be shallow and not painful. Cowgirl style: you stay on top as if you sitting and ride. it gives you control of how deep you want the penetration. Those are the 2styles that worked for me.

Hohoho and she's still asking for more styles. Why won't your whole body ache when you went to go and be practicing animal position. Reminds me of when I was doing my Masters and I'd be saying all sorts on Skype until the son of man would be Hot enough to pay for flight ticket, once the ticket is booked, obim!!! Then when I get here after one doggy I'd be like 'hell to the no, not my hp again' and he'd be like 'What of all those things you were saying on Skype, why do I always fall for this' . Anyway, you can claim you bled a little, that would always buy you more time, I hope the mamas here suggest convenient styles for you because me I only know missionary and the cuming position

Beyedew sorry ehn me don't have any suggestion for you o but your post made me laugh ehn cos it's only this doggy style that has been working for me since i got preggy. I tire quick for yhe cowgirl, spooning no dey even enter at all and to lie on my back dey always fear me for missionary position. So goodluck as you find your best position.

I need help with a girl in my next door neighbour's house, this Lady for no apparent reason hates and stresses me out daily by verbally harassing me, there is a fence separating us but she moves close to their fence and shouts so that I can hear her properly....hubby said I should ignore her but it could have been easier if I was working, am stuck with her day in day out....I'm loosing weight seriously because of her and is not good for my unborn baby am thinking always...the worst is that her sister and her children are aware of it but they do ear like say them no dey hear

This is why I want to do that post. Why did they tell you to give Glucose water (in bygone eras it was sugarcane water, ask elderly people)? And formula from Day 2 isn't necessary. Day 2 is Colostrum (yellow orange to transparent and very little in quantity, you may not even see it come out of your breasts unless you really try to hand-express). The info I gathered (when I had my challenges) came from a diverse group and they were all pretty much saying the same things. A baby has enough store of food in them up till Day 5 (so they are burning it up, which is why your newborn loses 10% of his/her weight in the first 5-7day). It takes about 5-7 for breastmilk to come in (if it is coming) and the quantity that comes out is dependent

on you: whether your body is producing enough (demand and supply, baby sucks, milk comes out, baby doesn't suck, milk doesn't come out),

ease of feeding (breastfeeding sucking is harder than a bottle, which has faster delivery system and some kids, like my nephew, give up easily and prefer the bottle. He screamed everytime they tried to bf him),

what's going with your body (my OB did everything possible to bf and it never worked out and she has access to every nutritional supplements and hospital-grade pumps and a lactation consultant as well as her medical peers). Some women can and some women cannot, women who adopt babies can actually breastfeed.

All anyone can do is the little they can do to encourage breastfeeding. If it doesn't work out, you're a great mum not a bad mum, feed that baby formula confidently. But give it 3 days postpartum, not 2 and go with a syringe or a cup and spoon. That's the advice my siblings and family friends give their patients and one of them is a Neonatal Specialist, her primary job is to ensure wellbeing of babies in the NICU and even then they break out the hospital-grade pumps for the Mums (that was what helped my friend bf her extreme preemie).

You have something she wants/admires (lifestyle,beauty,pregnancy,even hubby) just ignore her like hubby said. By the way why are you stuck with her? Do you sit outside till your DH gets back from work? And why do you let her get to you to the point of losing weight? Believe me,your silence is best. Get good novels if you read,if not find something to keep you busy,knitting,baking, let a friend come over. Make up and dress well,smile and be happy,give her things to talk about. When she sees she no longer makes you sad she'll find something else to do. Nobody should make you lose your mind especially since you have no business with her.
