You need to visit their public hospitals.
The best medical care is free to all regardless of class and they have the best facilities. I just couldnt believe that a poor man could walk into any public hospital and get a dialysis, chemo, radiation, organs transplant for free free free!!!
What's more, education up to university level is free.

The only bad thing with Angola is the cost of living. Its very expensive to live in Angola. (I think its the most exp city to live in Africa).
Food is damn exp cz the people either don't care about farming or fear the explosives could still be lying in the farms.
Imagine them importing basic foods from foreign countries while the farms lie idle.

They have tried. I give them B+ .

You've been to Angola? Cool!

MPLA is structured around socialist ideals, so this comes as no surprise.

Even though I still admire Angolas progress, I was a bit naive when I first made this thread.

Angola's economy isn't nearly as dynamic as Nigeria's. . . by a long shot. Even though they are forecasted to grow double digits this year, their economy is still heavily dependent on commodities (95%). . . but I have hope for this country. I've ready numerous articles that suggest the Angolan government is serious about diversifying their economy. . . hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested into the agricultural sector, banking, tourism, and other sectors of the economy. If I'm not mistaken, the non-oil portion of their economy is growing faster than the former.

Brazil does it right.

Haitians in Brazil get visas but border checks increase

Brazil is granting residence visas to some 4,000 Haitians already in the country but is stepping up border checks to stem a further influx.

The move follows an increase in migrants leaving Haiti to seek work in Brazil's booming economy.

Many arrive in remote border towns after being brought to South America by people-smugglers and trekking through the jungles of Peru and Bolivia.

Haiti is still struggling to recover from the January 2010 earthquake.

The Brazilian Justice Ministry announced on Tuesday that some 4,000 Haitians who had arrived in the country since the devastating quake would be granted residence and work visas.

These include 1,600 migrants who had already been authorised to stay and some 2,000 more who are in the country illegally.

But the Brazilians authorities stressed that this was a one-off move.

From now on, Haitians would need to apply at the Brazilian embassy in Port-au-Prince for one of the 100 work visas available per month, officials said.

"The government will not be indifferent to the Haitians' vulnerable economic situation. But those who don't have a visas will not be allowed into Brazil," said Justice Minister Jose Eduardo Cardozo.

The Brazilian authorities say they are also reinforcing border checks and will talk to neighbouring governments on ways of tackling people-smuggling.

Many migrants flew to Ecuador and then were taken by traffickers through Peru or Bolivia.

Most of the Haitians have been gathering in the towns of Tabatinga and Brasilieia, the French news agency AFP reports.

Demand for manual labourers is strong in Brazil, where there are infrastructure and building projects under way, many linked to the planned 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games being held in the country.

They better watch out before they recolonize Africa. They have their interests and it is probably not for Africa.  We don't want them to come to Afria start busniesses then have us as slaves in our own land.

If anything, the opposite is occurring. You should read up on how many Portuguese companies have been acquired, or partly acquired by Angolan investors. Just recently, Angolan investors expressed interest in buying Portugal former state oil company, Galp Energia. Read here:

Undocumented, law-abiding immigrants won't get boot, President Obama says

The White House said Thursday it will let undocumented, law-abiding immigrants facing deportation stay in the U.S. and apply for work permits.

The policy shift focuses federal resources on booting out convicted criminals and others who pose a public safety or national security threat, while sparing undocumented students and other low-priority immigrant offenders.

Essentially, what is going to happen now is that illegal immigrants are going to get to stay in the United States if any of the following apply:

-arrival in the U.S. as a young child

-actively "pursuing an education"

-serving or served in the U.S. military

-spouse of someone in the U.S. military

-18 years old or younger

-"elderly"

-pregnant or nursing

-victim of a "serious crime"

-serious disability or health problem

-caring for a family member with a serious disability or health problem

This move may be well intentioned, but it is also an insult to law abiding immigrants. A legal immigrant spent a lot of resources getting into America legally, and staying in America legally; what now differentiates a legal and an illegal immigrant? If an illegal immigrant, who has broken the law in the first place by being illegal, knows he/she will eventually be granted legal status, then that puts a hole in the whole works of the US immigration system.

Yes, you are entitled to your sentiments. . . and as a legal immigrant I can see your perspective, but as someone who also knows of the troubles and pains many illegal immigrants endure on a daily basis, I see this as a positive change. Many illegal Nigerians were once legal, but because of the many already present holes in the U.S. immigration system, they became illegal.

The knife cuts both ways.

Im interested to see the sales of nollywood and 'ghollywood' (wtf?) flicks in Ghana compared. Judging from the Ghanians I know personally (all of them love our movies), I wouldn't be surprised if Nollywood flicks rake in more dollars than 'Ghollywood' flicks.
