Travel / Re: Should I Stay and Complete My PhD Or Accept a 30 NZD Per Hour Job In New Zealand by iceberg54: 7:04pm On Oct 17, 2023 |
Middleborn: Do you currently have a job in Nigeria? Firstly, make sure the job offer in NZ is valid. There are lots of scams out there. What type of visa are you going to NZ with? Does it provide a pathway to permanent residency? Ask your potential employer that question or do your research. You can always continue your PhD in NZ later if that's what you really want. Many universities allow transfer of credits from prior studies if it's in the same field. There are opportunities for PhD scholarships in NZ and neighbouring Australia. All the best. |

AdisaOwala: This is absolutely unnecessary. What will he gain if your visa isn't approved? He spends his valuable time here helping others which he doesn't have to do. You can share the outcome of your application for everyone to learn from. That is the purpose of this thread. What you're currently doing is uncalled for. 6 Likes |

PeterIbitoye: Most likely a scam, please don't make payment yet. What is your occupation? Have you done any skills assessment with the relevant body in Australia e.g Engineers Australia, Vetasses etc? Did you write any English tests? E.g. IELTS 1 Like 1 Share |

4everEdward: It is the company's responsibility (not yours) to prove to DHA that they couldn't find an Australian to do the job. They have to do this before they can sponsor you and before visa application. Hence you can't be denied visa on that basis. A lot of people are coming in through work sponsorship these days due to the skills shortage locally. More importantly what is your occupation? Do you have a valid skills assessment? Do you have the required work experience in that occupation? You need to go through the requirements of 482 visa and see if you are even eligible. If you are, and the company is willing to sponsor, this is the best option. Option 2 is a very stressful process. It can take at least two years in many cases before you are granted a spouse visa. Cheers. 1 Like |

MrsJoycey1: You definitely don't need to reassess since you're still in that job. By the way, there was a DHA ruling a few years back that started allowing applicants to claim work experience points before the deeming date set by Vetasses as long as the work experience was after the qualification that made you eligible. This meant you could start claiming points from 04/2018. I am not sure if this rule is still in place. Can you please confirm @tunlex01

aussievision: Western and south-western Sydney are both within 1hr from CBD and have many new areas with developers offering house and land packages eg. Leppington, Marsden Park, Riverstone, Schofields, Box Hill, Oran Park, Austral etc. I believe there is a sizable number of Africans in these areas. Regarding price, you won't get anything around the 600k mark apart from apartment units. Single stories - around 800k+ depending on area and double story definitely 900k upwards (but not as high as 1.7m). You can save if you don't mind a town house (Yes, the property market is crazy right now). Check realeastate.com.au or domain.com.au. I advice you get in first and rent like you mentioned. Then explore those areas in the first few months to decide what you really want. Cheers. |
