ZUBY77:

I bought a plot at Amechi road for 3million. The area is developing fast now since /chime tarred the road and mounted street lights there. I think its a little higher now. I will find out.

See how guys are calmly quoting that they bought a plot for 3 million. That's a cool $20,000 cash. Tomorrow someone will come in here to say that ''the average Nigeria lives on less than a dollar a day'', and that only politicians and looters can afford to buy anything in the country. Bobs are you a politician? Thought not.

D major thing enugu needs now is sustained peace. Coz jst like u pointed out development increased in recent times. One Place ppl shuld target nw is amaechi,d place is even more strategically positioned for faster development than emene
Amaechi is changing gradually and in a few years, it will be very well developed. But for some reason, I hope it still retains some village feel cos I won't have anywhere else to call my village.

^^^It can still take on the spill-over from Enugu metropolitan, but yet retain that 'village' feel; that's what the suburbs are meant to be. The key thing is [b]PLANNING
: the state gov't should ensure it controls and plans the new developments and layouts in this area, and it should be a strictly residential and middle/upper-class area to prevent overcrowding.

It should be well serviced with good roads, pipeborne water, a new school or two, a designated high-street where the few necessary businesses (like a grocery shop, post office, banks, etc) can be located, and a park.

We need to stop this crazy and unplanned manner in which new layouts and towns grow, and any chance we have to do things the right way should be seized with both arms. Examples abound of nice looking mansions being situated in unplanned higgledy-piggledy environments with no good roads, and the beauty of the building is lost in the madness of it all.

d key to that is planning. our town planners if at all they wish to work concentrate on cities. they shuld plan d whole state esp fast developin towns or places bn encroched by expanin city.

Its ongoing, most of those unplanned towns are done in the 80s and things are gradually changing. Many towns like Nike, Ngwo and even this Amechi brings in surveyors and partitions lands, creates streets and erects beacons before they share lands to their sons.

I know because I own lands in these areas. However more towns should do this, I will also add that the streets be widened and the plots made bigger. I will see my own traditional ruler and talk this over with him.

The attached pic is of the planned GolfCity project, and is the approach new developments should take. It's been about 3 years since it was talked about, but nothing seems to have happened ever since....maybe the investors pulled out undecided.

Nkemsplendid: I grew up on campus at UNN. It was the perfect community, as kids we loved the place. Families would come back from overseas (where maybe a parent went for further studies)and would fit in immediately cos the environment was world class. The University school was more international than the wannabe Intl. schools they want me send me kids to today for N1m/term! Spider please spare some time to get us pics from Nsukka, thanks. Meanwhile who was dt guy talking abt hating Enugu wt a passion, you are free to but don't peddle lies pls. Wts all dt rubbish abt Enugu girls being love peddlers, get a life and go and bring up your children in Damaturu in silence.
Babe i feel you die! I was also born, bred and buttered in the choice city of Enugu and just like you i had the best University Education in the choice University of Nigeria of course after a memorable stint at University Secondary school Enugu Campus.Hating Enugu is a choice, but it is needless cos i wonder who is not in love with ambiance and peace?? Enugu gals rock and the boiz are tripping.Let that hater send his/her wards to UNIMAID.Sucker!!

ITS ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVES, IF THE ONLY THING YOU NOTICED IN THE TOWN IS FILTH, ITS BECAUSE YOUR MIND IS FILTHY.

This is a beautiful thread. I must commend your work especially for being so realistic.
It cuts across every part of the society.
Enugu is indeed blessed with natural beauty which needs to be enhanced even further.

I wonder if you have some training in tourism development because this is the kind of thread that will appeal to an international audience and actually encourage more investment.
Keep it up
I love the lush green rice fields most

Thank you very much. I don't have any training in tourism o, its only my desire to show it as it is.
Many Nkanu towns farm rice, Nomeh, Nara, Nkerefi, Ugbawka and from Aninri LGA there are more towns like Oduma, Nenwe and Mpu. (town of Ike Ekweremadu)

I wish the Enugu skyline could be revisited. The goverrnment needs to look for a way to create a new business district and erect some skyscrapers, thereby redifining the skyline.
