So, I went wedding dress shopping today. . .

Most of the dresses I saw were either over styled or plain fugly! I saw some pretty ones though, but they were way above my budget and some of these dresses were among the ones I saw online for half the price.

And why does one have to pay as much as 1k to try on a dress? undecided

Needless to say, I didn't buy anyone. I'm seriously considering risking ordering online. Hoping I don't get burnt. grin

I'm not doing Asoebi. Don't have that strength. Guests will just wear a touch the colors of the day. Makes the wedding much more versatile. grin

Well, when the time comes for me,am sure going to utilise whatever I have then to achieve a colourful wedding.

Some wedding items are classic and therefore only the best should be presented, while others can be managed or can be forgone.

These are order of priority.

The couples attire:the couple should make sure they look their BEST on that day.its their day.

The location:Don't send out invitations only for people to come around and regret why they came. Some will spend half of their time trying to locate their venue.Place banners and direction posts

Photography:please get a good photographer. You won't wear that cinderell a again.Your Video coverage should be nothing but the best too
Sourvenirs. This is where I hope I won't disagree with my future husband cos I don't like those type that has the couples photographs on it.And then those carton bags we share here in Nigeria. That's a waste of money.Get something else within the same price.
The cake:Why build a house all in the name of a wedding cake?,its just a cake

Wedding programme/brochure:That thing is another avenue for wasting money. After your wedding day,it becomes a waste because the following Saturday is another person's wedding.Nobody will open a library for wedding brochures.I prefer the one page programme, more like a scroll.just place it on each table.

I like you already! kiss Thought its only me that feels "there is life after wedding". Lol

Cake: We are making a simple four-step cake with extra 300 wrapped pieces.

Reception: Well situated and easy to find. Good thing is that it's just beside the church we will be wedding. So we don't need to transport people from the church to the reception venue.

Wedding Program: Church has a standard which we will work with.

Wedding attire: That is a priority! We must look "delish" wink. Mustn't be expensive though. Just something that fits and comfortable.

Photography is another one we might not compromise on too. The pictures and videos make the memory last forever.

Wedding decor: I love beautiful decor! So we made sure we hired someone who can do the job, at affordable rate though.

Havila bridals at Ikeja and Benkol bridals are good but somewhat pricy shops. Benkol has tiaras too.
But if you don't mind the stress, go to Azikiwe street, Marina. There are many wedding shops. You will buy the wedding gown at half the price, but it may be Turkey not American.
Please don't blame the shops that insist you pay before trying. Wedding gowns are delicate. If sweaty people keep trying and taking off, the dress will look old and no bride-to-be would like to buy it
I wish you a happy married life

When it comes to Textile, I give it to the Turkish than the Americans. I would rather buy clothing materials made in Turkey than buy from the USA.

I went to Havila. Their prices were off the hook. Will check out those shops at Azikiwe street. I really don't care if the dress is Turkey or China sef, so far it fits! grin. Thanks for the info.

You're right. The American wedding gowns are not just fanciful. Almost too basic and subdued.
China made has various grades. Costlier never means prettier. I've seen gowns designed by Kosibah(hope that's the spelling) that cost up to N1m and yet were plain ugly or ill-fitting on the bride

Pls check for the wedding gown on lagos island. My sister bought hers for 50k and it was lovely.

So true! I've never really been a fan of "Designers". I just wear what fits and and I get so much compliment while at it. wink

One of the wedding dresses I saw for 300k, i wouldn't touch it with a 10foot pole even if it was free! Plain fugly! angry
