Yorubas are the most religion tolerating set of people in the world. How I wish people would look at competence before tribe, religion and party. |

deletrue: See your life in the open publicly? Fashola wife is a complete christain, Tinubu wife who ia presently a senator is a complete christain, Former APC National chairman Chief Bisi Akande wife and children are complete christain, Oyo state governor wife is a complete christain. This is the better truth that you guys in the ss and se dont know about the Yoruba. If APC can present GMB/BRF, just tell your GEJ to forget 2015 because it will be a easy ride for APC. Do you also know that B.R Fashola government of lagos state has ban the wearing of ijab to public school by the Muslim students? You need to learn more. |

ratiken: Lol. Its obvious that you are trying too hard. @post, The comments I've seen so far on this thread serve as an instant reminder of why I chose not to be a slave to religion. Is this the love Christ preached? Is there anywhere it is written in the bible that only pastors should be presidents of countries? It suddenly seem the Christians are more bigoted than Muslims. What most of you are doing is to give the neutrals like me more reason not to vote GEJ because it seem the only reason his supporters have for voting him is because he's a christian, though we all know that the country has been worse off under his leadership. You guys should stop with all the bigotry, its counter-productive. 2 Likes |

I hate the fact that religion plays a dominant role in our polity but it is something that in Nigeria cannot be separated from state affairs because the state is sometimes used as an Avenue to promote certain religious beliefs as superior to others. Northern Muslims in this country see themselves first as Muslims before Nigerians. Nigerian Christians have been forced to sacrifice a lot for the progress of this country but the same cannot be said for the northern Muslims. in our Constitution Nigeria is a circular state but a part of the country practices sharia law to the detriment of the "supposed" christian minority. Nigeria is said to be a circular state yet it is a member of the organization of Islamic cooperation. I had to go and do a search for a story in which a past minister for foreign affairs of northern extraction during a meeting of the OIC referred to Nigeria as Muslim nation with the largest Christian population. here's the link www.vanguardngr.com/2012/08/minister-nurudeens-islamic-republic-of-nigeria/ As a Christian I'm worried that there is a hidden ploy to Islamize this country and my fears are made more potent by the rise of a known religious extremist in the person of Buhari. The current administration may not be the best we've had but I would take pdp any day to a party run by the likes of the toad-eyed thief tinubu. if not for the fact that the apc has been sabotaging the effort of the present administration we would have had more progress than is presently obtainable. I urge people vote wisely, i won't tell you to vote for Jonathan but I will shout at the top of my voice Don't vote for Buhari cos he's a religious bigot and don't vote for atiku because he is a C.I.A proxy and as soon as he gets into power will sell us out to America. 1 Like |

And what has president Jonathan or Obasanjo done for Christianity as professing christian presidents? Is it the embarrassment that CAN is or what? People shouldn't vote on religious lines but on performance and credibility. BTW, the office of the vice president remains a very weak and subjective one. 2 Likes |

Safari29: They just don't understand that. I highly doubt if there is a family in the southwest without both religions. If not in the immediate family, then one of the cousins would. We all know Fashola is most likely just a muslim by name and we all know his wife is a christain. |

drlawizle: You are very right. I'm a southerner and I'm afraid of what looms. The north will come for revenge. They will never forget the casualty they suffered under Jonathan regime. This is what I see. PDP has put the whole country in a state of panic. There was an agreement within the party that power will shift though not a Nigerian accord but this agreement was revoked by Obasanjo who convinced the North that Jonathan will go for only one term. Now Jonathan wants more than one term. North says it is their turn. When will power not return to the North. What will happen when Jonathan leaves. Jonathan is even more scared of leaving power. He will rather die than leave office for Northerners to flair him. Easterners do not want the north to come back because they perceive them as threat to their exisence. Westerners are playing safe because they do not want to be victims of Northern revenge on the South. As for the coming election, Jonathan needs to rig to come back. The North is now united against him. You can confirm this from their elders and royal fathers. They want to come back and jonathan's only joker is to rig because as it is he can not win in a free and fair election. APC is likely going to sweep the southwest and The three zones in the North except for North central where it will be 50:50. PDP will sweep South South and South East and get little vote from the west. But because Lagos and Kano are two largest states and North has more states PDP needs to rig. So for Jonathan to win he needs to rig some states. |

It's funny how APC has been blaring the change agenda but they are allowing a man that ruled the nation 30 years ago to come back. Some country presidents were teenagers when he was president first, what has he done to warrant us bringing him back? What does he plan to do differently than last time? Let us not forget that he was the one that jailed fela basically for daring to speak against the government. Also 9 of his 15 cabinet members were northerners. Why would I trust him to do anything differently. A man that it took years to come out and speak against boko haram. I know someone who was invited to a recruiting meeting trying to get support for Buhari, the guy hosting the meeting when challenged by someone about Buhari supporting sharia his response was "yes he may have a Muslim agenda but he is better than GEJ" You can say anything you want about GEJ but no one can say this is the Nigerian government where information is the most available to the public and people are free to challenge anyone in government. You cannot say the same for Buhari. |

firetrap: Incorrect Muslim leaders dealt brutaly and decisively with Muslim extremists in the past - Maitatsine and lately Mohammed Yusuf Northern Muslim leader (Abacha, Murtala) did not cede Bakassi to anyone - Obasanjo and Gowon did Shagari as president and Buhari as GOC routed Muslims rebels from Chad abd drove them back to their country Have you ever heard of Chadians and Nigeriens invading Nigeria since Muslim leaders taught them a long-lasting lesson firetrap: It is true that a lot of Christians have been killed in the North But when you look at the situation in Jos Muslims have been killed too but this is not reported In Kuru Jeta or Kuru Karama hundreds of muslims were surrounded and killed The corpses were dumped in well to suppress evidence - dont take my word for it - use google In Jos in 2010, Muslims at the praying ground were surrounded, killed butchered, cooked and EATEN We should not tell ony ONE side of the story And BTW is every war in the North religious - the TIV and Jukuns have been fighting for years They are both Christians over land like Umuleri/Aguleri; Urhobo/Itsekiri; Ife/Modakeke Why can Hausa and non-Hausa fight over land? Why must it be seen as religious Afterall there are Christians Fulanis and Christian Hausas http://newsrescue.com/birom-christians-eat-roasted-flesh-of-muslims-they-killed-in-jos-nigeria/ firetrap: OIC was under Babangida, a long time ago In 2012 (about 2 years ago), Jonathan effectively declared Nigeria a Christian state by using government fund to put up a NATIONAL Christmas Tree It was attended by members of the diplomatic corps and commissioned by Patience Jonathan I had to go and do a search for a story in which a past minister for foreign affairs of northern extraction during a meeting of the OIC referred to Nigeria as Muslim nation with the largest Christian population. here's the link www.vanguardngr.com/2012/08/minister-nurudeens-islamic-republic-of-nigeria/ firetrap: How do you Islamise a ciuntry that has Christians in key position for 13 out of 16 years If you fear Muslims in this manner, what do you think Muslims will do When Muslims were ruling as military men they did not Islamise this country So how wil they do it through a National Assembly firetrap: I hope you heard what Amaechi said about Buhari being accused and keeping quiet How is Buhari a well-known extremist How come Pastor Tunde Bakare trusts him and agreed to be his VP firetrap: You missed it with this Jonathan has been shielding so many alleged crooks So where is Maina who stole N32b pension and was given military protection? The oil subsidy scam - where are the culprits? Ribadu's report - what happened? KPMG report on NNPC - what happened? Tinubu was taken to code of conduct tribunal and he was freed What else do you want? Let Jonatnan people be charged to let us know he hates thieves Okonjo Iweala says $10b has not been reconciled, Jonathan dismissed the entire thing as spurious if not for the fact that the apc has been sabotaging the effort of the present administration we would have had more progress than is presently obtainable. firetrap: If people were to heed your advice, they would throw your argument away Suppose someone were to say Jonathan is a Mossad agent Wise people don't base their decision on beer parlour talk Buhari your so-called bigot has stepped into the church No major church leader who knows him says what you say Has Jonathan ever stepped into a mosque? Yet he said he would be going from church to church to worship - so what should a muslim think when you bring up this topic? Unless you want us to believe that a leader who is a Christian cannot be called a bigot, no matter what |

Well, the opposition can continue arguing about permutation and combination while team GEJ is already moving forward with the latest transformation initiative ie Schools Agriculture program with the aim of taking agriculture back to the secondary schools and helping young Nigerians take an early leap into this "field of green gold" called Agriculture. Re: Buhari/fashola Ticket: Opinion Of A SW Christian by KLand(m): 5:49pm On Oct 20, 2014 |
FASHOLA fits into the equation well. But Buhari remains a hard sell to most Nigerians except to northerners. If the north is serious about taking over power, by now they should know that Buhari cannot deliver that good. Nigerians need a more progressive person than Buhari embodies. APC as a party appears so confused about who to field as the president and vp candidates. Those who have so far declared their interests leave much to be desired . From the look of things, GEJ may as well go to sleep because so far it seems there is no formiddable opposition candidate to give him a tough challenge in the next election. |
