I know and i am very sure that Gov. Babatunde Fashola is not a christian. It was Senator Bola Tinubu that change the religous status of the man.
How and why? The political stake holder in Lagos prefered Fashola (a christian) than any other candidates presented but they want a muslim candidate that is why he came throu Ansar deen society of Nigeria.
Secondly, the case hijab and crimination, can a muslim oppose his religous doctrine and practice. Capital NO.
Thirdly, google it, Fashola is a grand patron of Boy bridgage of Nigeria and i dout it if a practicing musilim can do that. And many more.
Today, Fashola has been short in the leg by his master.

What is this one saying So cause Fashola did not support hijab wearing in schools he's not a Muslim and why can't a Muslim be a grand patron of boys brigade... I tire 4 una o...whether u like it or not he's a Muslim and there's nothing u can do about it.

my heart bleeds when we should be debating issues on development and assessing the present government score card on whether he should be considered for 2term we are busy discoursing mundane issue of religion as if past Christian or Muslims President have really considered the masses. or this present crop of politician do believe in God? This is the era of knowledge economy which means we should be asking the relevant question and demanding better deals from our various leaders to be at the deferent levels of governance. Nigerian shine your eyes, as 2015 is around the corner let's vote wisely for the change we dreamt of our country flowing with meek and Hot. religion is the opium of the society'

SamIkenna:
Its a shame some folks would rather pretend they were from the moon.

Less divisive people like Chime, Fashola, Duke, Fayemi, Mimiko, Ribadu, Ata, Utomi, Akume, etc - these are people I'll vote for any time. Even Ogbeni, I'm willing to vote for him. Obi recently messed up by joining PDP but still, I'm willing to forgive overlook that. The people I mentioned above - I will vote for before considering Buhari and my reasons are simple:

Buhari is an ethnic champion, a Fulani supremacist, and a sharia monger. Ogbeni, in my consideration, is openly religious but you never hear him talk religion, and for that reason I'm comfortable with him knowing that he considers my interest. But Buhari....what you see is what you get. He may arguably be the most virtuous contestant but in the world we currently live, in this current climate of extreme political Islam, all non-muslims and serious secular minded individuals should be wary of folks who overtly or covertly tilt towards Islamofacism, Islamic domination, or sharia implementation. Its a pity that people who, either because of their peculiar history, have a much favorable disposition to Islam and all its variants have decided to cast aspersions on others who're wary of Buhari, sharia, or Islam in its entirety.

In some of my posts I stated how much I feel for the general. Buhari as a person is perhaps a great individual. However, in Nigeria's political sphere being great or just a nice person or whatever is not enough because our country is a mosaic of diverse and, oftentimes, mortal enemies. For the above reason, any individual seeking for a position at the center must never be seen as belonging to any of the extreme poles. Buhari is seen that way and this is what many of his supporters are not willing to accept. Hating on non-supporters of Buhari or insinuating that non-supporters of the general are thieves who're afraid of him is absurd. Yea, maybe some are - I don't know. But at the same time there're many of us whose parents were receiving birth certificates when Buhari was taking over as military head of state, now tell me -what is it did I steal to be scared of the general?

My candid give-away for Buhari's supporters is the following:
(1) Buhari is highly polarizing (that's a fact not assumption) and as such will be almost impossible to return for the second time as Nigeria's president irrespective of who he picks as VP.
(2) Paring him with another muslim will not only make his chances exponentially impossible, it will quickly disintegrate Nigeria if such combo wins, which I think could win.

Let me expatiate a bit on the following statements - "exponentially impossible," and its seeming contradiction, "which I think could win."

Let's try to be objective for a minute. We know that GEJ's support is strong in SE & SS. Middle Belt and SW have some support for GEJ but it still could go either way especially in SW. So, for that reason let's give GEJ a chunk of Middle Belt and let SW muslims go to Buhari. Now that leaves SW Christians in play. Given this scenario, if Buhari pairs with a South West Muslim its obvious that all of SW, NE, NW, and a good chunk of NC is going his way and this is enough to beat GEJ. But then another headache sets in: will SE & SS, the two predominantly Christian enclaves, watch idly while 'their dark' day unfolds? Folks, your answers are as good as mine - its game over.

Now, this is the "exponential impossibility" I was talking about: you win and lose - simultaneously! This is not USA or Europe. No strong enclave is going to play dead in this century. We see what happened in CAR and many more so its imperative we ponder on the outcome of some choices before thinking we can easily force it down the throat of others.

Buhari is a pill most of us will never in a million years accept. And accompanying the general down our throat paired with another muslim as VP, especially now that we're much more wary and apprehensive of extreme Islam (and for good reasons)? Wow! you've got to be kidding - that's practically saying good-bye to Nigeria as a union.
You have spoken well my brother, unlike some dullards judging GMB with lies that those who impoverished them told fed themwith

Nigeria is a Country made up of Different Tribes and Religions, no doubt every tribe wants to rule our multitribal Land whether form the SS SE SW NE NW NC. Honestly Nigeria can do better than the aspirants presented but thats another topic, back to the point. In the 2011 results CPC won in the NE NW NC PDP won in the SW SS SE APC won in OSUN. the results are as follows:

Nigerian Presidential Election Results - 2011
PDP ; 22,495,187
ACN ; 2,067,301
CPC ; 12,214,853
ANPP ; 917,012
Others ; 504,866
TOTAL; 38,199,219
reg VOTERS; 73,528,040

the excuse given in 2011 for the fall out of APC states to PDP in the south west was that the National Leader was paid, WRONG!. but for the sake of statistics if we merge ACN,CPC,ANPP the APC Aspirant would win the 2015 elections.

we vote for sentimental reasons mainly because of our past, We use past experiences to generalize and make judgements thats why a Christian would not feel comfortable with a Muslim/Muslim ticket regardless of the potentials or leadership traits of the people involved. this same notion would make the SW individual less comfortable when a Southerner goes against a Northerner thats why SW voted for PDP massively in 2011.

In a bid not to sound pro GEJ or PDP i strongly feel that what happened in 2011 would most likely repeat itself, he has the sentimental statistics, he has the incumbency factor,he has the support of international and local business owners and less not forget he controls every single barrel of crude produced.

NA ONLY CHAI OR SORRY I WOULD SAY.
HAUSA/YORUBA?. In short i think Yoruba cannot learn from history. Hear it today, Hausa can never trust a Yoruba man until jesus come again lol(due to fake-ness and cunning-ness in everything, according to the Hausas )... believe it or not. Yoruba think Hausa is a no-brainer..hahaha. Obasanjo/Atiku relationship that never ended well... Ibo love Yoruba,Yoruba love Ibo ( for example, Obasanjo has ibo wife & Ibo saved Obasanjo during the biafra war, Adekunle Fajuyi was killed by Danjuma for the love of his Ibo friend Aguiyi Ironsi, but Yoruba will never trust an ibo man because of what Awolowo did to them during Biafra..evil that men do...Still believe it or not, the day Ibo man becomes the president of the most populous black nation in the world, every thing that moves in Nigeria will participate in the economy and it will end well for everyone. Ibo is the best thing to happen to Nigeria(I'm not Ibo though), believe it or not. If you are voting Hausa/Yoruba come 2015. I just go dey watch the drama that Nigeria would turn to... I am 1000% that it will never happen. Let's us stop recycling leaders, we need young leaders with loads of international experience and knowledge on how things work. Who is that president in the world that would be glad to talk to,do biz with, or listen to a recycled old president of Nigeria?, You guys should give me a break and think right. I think Jona, Agagu, Okonjo etc... have done great job, maybe their good works are not manifesting yet, but the pipeline has been laid and it is a process. Nigeria is on the verge of becoming one of the best economies in the world. Mark my word. VOTE GEJ 2015 until he hands power over to PETER OBI

there are so much hues and cries about the volatility of all muslim ticket in Nigeria, as a yoruba xtian, i am bold to say that majority of my fellow yoruba xtians don't even know Fashola is a muslim. they see him as performance personified hence his being an achiever and intellectual is more pronounced than his religious inclination. the result of my findings and interactions is that SW is a wrong place to play politics of religion bcuz almost all families are evenly distributed along religious lines , hence they see you first as a yoruba man before your religion.
hence a Buhari/Fashola in the SW is seeing as North/Yoruba ticket and it will surely fly.

A muslim / muslim ticket is not what Nigeria needs now. At least not now that Boko Haram menace is still fresh in minds of Nigerians.... Fashola might sound good but a VP can only function if the President allows him to play a role. Remember OBJ relegated Atiku to the background and.... that should tell you how powerless a VP is in Nigeria... Power currupts and absolute power..... Buhari is one in my opinion that will currupt absolutely with power. We should not expect Fashola to do any "magic" because the Nigerian constitution did not provide so. VP is just a ceremonial position, the President decides everything.

Well, Fashola impressed some people but I think what Lagos state needs is a good strategist. A good strategist will solve the traffic problem in Lagos. So far the problems still stare us in the face. Given the size IGR (internally generated revenue) of about 30billion NGN plus FEDERAL ALLOCATION any good strategist will transform Lagos without a loan.....

Well, still weighing all the would be successors to Fashola... For now Jimi Agbaje stands taller than all of them...
In as much as we want a difference and an improved leadership. It might also be a good thought to try another party in LAGOS STATE - EVEN IF IT MEANS LABOUR OR FRESH PARTY.....JUST ANY OTHER PARTY IN LAGOS SO WE CAN SPOT THE DIFFERENCE.

Since when did religion become the basis for economic growth or financial stability for a nation? Am a Christian. Muslim/Muslim ticket or Christian/Christian ticket has nothing to do with performance. Go to Dubai, Japan, Singapore and host of other nations too numerous to mention. What transformed them were individuals not religious affiliations. Nigerian Youths should change or improve their mindset to better the state of this Country.

Let me give you guys something deep to think about. Especially those of you saying religion should not be a criteria in this age/century.
Please think and answer the following questions in all honesty :

Do you think a Muslim /Muslim ticket will win presidential elections in the US, UK, Europe, etc. Do you guys think this is possible in this age where most terrorists claim to be fighting for their religion?

Will Nigerian muslims accept a christian/christian presidential ticket?
To the poster who insulted me above, thank you.

Save for Gowons era, it's always been a Muslim anytime a northener is in power & a Christian anytime a southerner is in same position. For once, I'd like to see a northern Christian as president and a southern Muslim as VP. Nigeria belongs to all of us!
