Therefore, just as Fashola and even Sam Egwu did a lot of demolitions to get the roads back to where they should be and reclaim the open spaces encroached upon by touts and settlers that used them as illegal motor parks and markets, the same determination to restore the original plan of Anambra towns must be embarked on.

It it heart warming that the reclamation has already started with the upper Iweka axis. One hopes it continues and extends to other parts of the state where illegal markets and parks exist.

Between Nnewi and Onitsha which do you think is more industrialize, am thinking Nnewi is ?

Can you rate the two places and come up with a comprehensive analysis, Onitsha is bigger though but Nnewi to me has many expetriate and none Igbo indigenes because of the whitecollar factory works there.

@Buddamonk I think onitsha even though it's more planned than Nnewi is more jam packed as a result of illegal market and street businesses. I believe if they can move some markets to a permanent site and and create legal motor parks , I will chose onitsha over Nnewi.

My brother two things there are involve in such mission; vision and gut.

If the govt have the vision they can do it with great gusto.
I could rmbr when Bridgehead was overtaken by ab0ki fowlsellers, beans,rice, okrika, all those nonsense, even to the extent that filling stations started encroaching on those service lanes along Onitsha Enugu Expressway, then in Upper Iweka the whole place was taken over by transport coys and roadside traders but now if your telling someone such thing existed before in Anambra that person will think your lying.

On Nnewi, i went there during xmas, i saw a booming and viable city with obsolete infracstructures, the roads in Nnewi are too narrow to handle the industrial nature of the town, most Nnewi roads are too slim not just narrow, single lanes and people encroaching on the mainroads to erect shops and display wares.

Anambra state govt should make Nnewi a special place abeg, this place developed without government intervention, they need to be reawarded and motivated by improving on the infrastructures available.
The way am seeing Nnewi if care is not taken in the next 7yrs Ozubulu, Ihembosi, Okija, Ukpor, Oriifte will be consumed by Nnewi and they will be calling them Nnewi and environs.
Nnewi is not doing bad in Africa but i dnt know what Anambra State govt is doing to help upgrade and elevate the city.
Nnewi need satelite towns, flyovers, roundabouts, wide roads and security.

achi4u, Nnewi congestion is no-issue when the govt is ready to work, the day a govt with vision to upgrade the city starts work you will see how those shops touching the mainroads will be made to move 30ft back.

Walahi is just the vision and gut, period.

Metoo i prefer Onitsha to any Nigeria city,
onitsha is well planned, if you go to Iyiowa Odepke and see how the streets are interconnected with one another, the streets are broad and the perspective of the upstairs there you will know that Onitsha State is well planned.

What the cities need is infracstructural upgrade and construction of non existing ones.

Cities in East dont have closes like you see here in lagos where street will be blocked at one end and the residents will say they live in estates
