Which university? Whose University? - The madam did not ask lie lie question - she asked de right question.

Who does not know the politics of location of tertiary institutions in Imo state? No court can grant the Ogboko university facility to a private organisation.

Truth is that if ORO leaves office without opening the university, next govt is most likely to convert it to a poultry or even a zoo. But Ogboko and neighbouring towns may not like ordour from poultry/zoo.

Try and be appreciative for once mr man.

I am ever appreciative. What did I not appreciate? Or you mean I must appreciate taking home a chicken while the other takes home two to three cows - all bought with our state's commonwealth?
If you do not appreciate the necessity to have a government - NOT JUST PRIVATE - multi-faculty university or campus in Orlu area of 12 Lgas, sorry my dear

Election is around the corner: Orlu people must continue to mobilize against politicians that through pursuit of personal interest propagate ignorance in the area.

If you notice, my dear, i do not throw insults on people and i will not let you draw me down that lane of infamy. I will not keep quiet and allow anybody truncate the truth in the land of my birth. That is why i bother to respond to posts like yours. My question remains, who owns the university at Ogboko? Does it have a name?
The so-called university at Mbaise, what is the stage of completion right now? The Imo college of Advanced studies,(built by Rochas) what has become of it now? What has happened to the school of health technology Amaigbo under Rochas?
I may not blame you(that is if you are merely one of his victims) because we are up against a great scammer who can deceive even the very smart.
If Rochas has surpassed Mbakwe like you claim, why do Imo sons and daughters troop out of the state in search of livelihood? Mbakwe built many viable factories. By now, Imo would have been the toast of the nation. The truth is bitter. Rochas has taken us back by sooo many years. Stop selling these lies because they may haunt you for many years to come.

You said you pass through Imo state regularly. Do you honestly think that is enough to make you an authority in Imo politics? Think again, my brother.

For your information, i don't even understand the mechanism of banning and unbanning people on this forum so quit barking up the wrong tree.

My dear please I've said it before, i don't have time for this argument. 2015 election in Imo state will prove who is the liar.

Mr. Man your case is quite different from the case of Onyegecha(mrs/miss). Your problem is that you want Rochas to open a multi faculty university in Orlu and environs but you've never denied that Rochas has tried in the area of education, industry, road network(both urban and rural), cities expansion and beautification , health, hospitality, trade/commerce, etc. Atimes if i look at your case, your agitation seems to be just because you want your Orlu to be as develop as Owerri and compete with it in all facet of life which everybody can wish for. But Onyegecha will tell you that outrightly Rochas is a scam and has failed imolites, which i don't like. She has said repeatedly that imolites are facing worst road, worst education in Rochas regime and that Rochas has failed imolites and should be kicked out of office in the next election while the same Rochas is the best gov Imo state has ever produced, he has surpassed Mbakwe. Mbakwe did not build any University(pls ask gov. Ike Nwachukwu, he's still alive), his work then was centered only at Aba and Owerri, he did nothing in Umuahia(Michael okpara's home, where he said they broke his father's jaw of wine), Orlu(Collins Obi's area), Ohaofia and Okigwe(Amadi ikwechegh can tell more from his grave), but today the same Rochas Mrs. Onyegecha called a scam is building 2 universities in Imo state, one at ogboko and the other at Mbaise, I'm sure of 2 polytechnics, one at Orlu, former TESEIC and other at mbano, many colleges and schools(eg, the school of health technology at Okporo), he revived Avutu poultry, imo Ada palm and Oguta wonder lake, he's developing Owerri and at the same time paying serious attention to Orlu and Okigwe. Mrs. Onyegecha is a heartless liar and i believe she's a staff of Nairaland cos she has banned me many times because i said something good about Rochas which was true and was what i saw with my eyes. She has been trying to cover the main truth and can lie without conscience. No right thinking person can have the gut and say that Rochas has not done well in imo state cos the things are there for one to see whenever one is passing imo state. I pass imo state virtually every week and i know that before the inception of Rochas govt there was nothing like Malaysia mkt in Obowo, relief mkt in Owerri and Mgbidi, Orlu shopping plaza, Okporo shopping plaza, new Orlu building material mkt, no single dual carriage road and street light in Orlu and Okigwe, nothing like Heros' square, no free education, no University facilities at Ogboko and Mbaise, no school of health technology facility at Okporo, no skill acquisition centre at Okporo, no Imo anthem, no free school uniform for school children, no children parks at Orlu and Owerri, IMSUTH was almost collapsed, Rockview Hotel building was an abandoned property, Owerri was not the way it is today, no much rural roads(though Udenwa tried in the area of rural roads). So Mr. Man don't question me if i don't want to engage her. She's far from Imo state and can not ask question from people within.
The use of paragraphs and line spacing makes for easy reading.

Rochas is a mediocre administrator who has his head in the clouds judging by the nature of ridiculous projects (many of which are abandoned) he embarks upon.

Abandoned street gates
Abandoned round abouts
Abandoned flyovers.
Abandoned street roads
Abandoned stadium
Soon to be abandoned "free" education
Soon to be abandoned hospitals

Politics Today: ‘I want to industrialise Imo state’
0
By CHUKS EZE on October 28, 2014 · Politics

Ken Ojiri, one of the front runners for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the 2015 governorship election in Imo State was upbeat as he picked the form to formally throw his heart into the ring for the primaries coming up later in November.

He has never hidden his desire to introduce creativity and dynamism into the governance of the state. He says Imo is one of the producers of graduates in the country and the least in industries making it an unviable paradox. He spoke exclusively to Daily Sun soon after picking his form.

What do you think is the greatest Challenge facing Imo State?

The major challenge with Imo State is lack of employment which is due to lack of industries which in itself is lack of planning by past administrations. I refuse to see it as a problem because when something is a problem, the solution may be far, but when it is a challenge, it requires confrontation. When you confront a challenge, it goes away, but if you fail to confront a challenge, it confronts you. The unemployment in Imo State has been confronting the state because no one has deemed it fit to confront it. While each administration tries its best within the scope of its capacity, lack of understanding of the actual need of Imo people and a master plan on the short and long term means of solving them has been a hamstring.

I strongly believe that understanding the peculiarities of our problem is the first step to solving it and using time tested strategy is the key to overcoming the challenge of unemployment and by extension, poverty in Imo state. Every area has its peculiar problem. What provides succour for someone in Lagos may not be what will give someone in Imo state joy. It is therefore important to identify those things that will add value to the lives of the people of the state, things that will prolong the citizen’s life. What will return the cultural values of the people and the pride of the people of the state? When you identify all these, it becomes easy to connect with the people.

Imo State has suffered the highest amount of urban migration in all its ramifications. This has affected not only the economy of the state, it has affected the aged who are left alone in the villages, it has affected the younger generations most of whom are born and bred outside Igbo land. They grow up in foreign environment, foreign culture and language. The implication is that Imo culture and traditions are fast fading away while Igbo language has become foreign to these children.

How would you initiate creative governance in Imo State?

This is the reason everyone who aspires to govern any state in the country must set out his or her agenda, have a study of his state and its critical needs and come close enough to the people to connect with them. If you ask me, the biggest problem of my people in Imo State is lack of employment. Most Imo people are not happy in most cities where they reside, but unfortunately, they have no choice. It is difficult to imagine a state that has almost the highest number of graduates annually without a single multinational company in the state let alone, industrial park or estate.

Is it that Imo does not have enough land for industrial estates or that it can not design an industrial estate, or that it is a taboo for industries to flourish in the state. There is no rocket science in it. Once you make the environment attractive for industrialists, they naturally come to invest. It is my desire to develop industrial estates in Imo, attract major industries that will attract ancillary industries.

I don’t want to believe that most of the graduates riding Keke cannot go into agriculture and excel if it is well packaged, or into small scale productions if well oriented. Even welders, electricians, brick layers etc. who are working hard outside the state but leaving like ants will rather come back home and work. Graduates who leave from hands to mouth because what they earn is too meager to take care of their accommodation, high cost of city life and the hassles of the city will find succor in coming closer home to work. Others who have aged parents and desolate compounds will be too glad to relocate back home. Most people who are three to five sharing a room in cities across the country have comfortable homes in their father’s compound. If given the opportunity, they would be happier working from home.

Again when industries come and businesses thrive in Imo, property values will naturally raise, tenement houses become an investment. Unfortunately, this is what our people are providing for other cities that have the foresight to develop their industrial capacities. In places like Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, Anambra etc., what they are reaping today is deliberate long term industrial plan which was sustained. Chief Sam Mbakwe of blessed memory started it but no one sustained it and unfortunately, no one has been able to study Mbakwe’s master plan for Imo state.

Let me tell, you, if I follow Mbakwe’s master plan alone even as old as it was, Imo State will never be the same again. It is time to think of Imo state as an industrial state rather than a leisure state. I don’t think Imo people are that lazy to equate them with only leisure. It’s ironical that a people whose hands power the industrial capacities of other states have only hotels and restaurants to show as their industry. Imo state must change, it is long over due. It is time to reverse the trend of urban migration to rural migration and believe me, it is possible.

Much of what the federal government is suffering today has its root on non performing governors that hold sway in the states. A state governor that collects allocation and invest it on jamboree will turn round to blame the federal government for flooding in his state. He turns round to blame the federal government for high turn over of area boys, turn criminals or graduates turn kidnappers.

When a governor uses his money to purchase votes, buys himself into office and spends the whole time in his office trying to recoup investments, you don’t really blame him.

The state radio stations are propaganda machines that turn the faces of the masses to the federal government and away from the state governors who owe them larger responsibilities untill the states become creative in their governance, until those who have vision and plan for their time in office take over the government at the state, so shall the federal government continue to bear the brunt of the ineptitude of the state governments.

Waltersmith Raises $50Million For Topping Plant, Awaits Approval

ftimg-waltersmith

Nigerian independent Waltersmith Petroman has raised $50Million, the entire funds required for the building of a 5,000BOPD refinery at its Ibigwe field in eastern Niger Delta. It is awaiting the approval of the Nigerian minister of Petroleum Resources to start construction.

“It has become imperative for us to do it”, says Abdurazaq Isa, the company’s executive chairman. “If you aggregate the losses we have suffered from vandalism of the Trans Niger Pipeline (the crude export line) since we started production in June 2008, it comes to over one year of production”, Isa explains. “Last year alone, we lost 120 days of production”.

Waltersmith produces 4,300BOPD at full throttle, but average monthly production in January, February and March 2014 have been between 3,500-3,800BOPD, largely because of deferments. Waltersmith has a Flowstation capacity of 15,000BOPD on the Ibigwe field. It hopes to source crude from nearby fields to feed the topping plant.

“We may not make as much money from the plant as we do in exporting the crude, but we won’t run at a loss”, Isa, a former banker, insists. “Imagine producing diesel and kerosene from our plant and distributing them around (eastern Nigerian cities of) Port Harcourt, Aba and Owerri?”, Isa asks. “We’d run better figures than anyone importing and landing and paying charges and coming from Lagos”. Isa restates the fact that the proposed 400,000BOPD refinery by the Dangote group “cannot meet the country’s domestic demand of petroleum products”.

Isa also sees the project in terms of social investment. Beneficiation of natural resources is a “legacy that we indigenous companies should leave”, he says. “In Britain, refineries contribute $3.87Billion to the local economy. It’s our duty to make that sort of contribution to our own economy. We will not lose money”

Okorocha approves funds to complete projects at teaching hospital
NAN-HG-9

Projects

Orlu (Imo), Oct. 28, 2014 (NAN) Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Tuesday said he had approved the release of N400 million for the immediate completion of structures at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu.

Okorocha spoke during his inspection visit to the Nursing Department of the institution and directed contractors handling the projects to complete them within the next three weeks for commissioning.

The governor said that with the release of the fund, the contractors would have no reason not to complete the job on schedule.

He warned that the government would not spare anyone who failed to comply with the directive.

The governor, during the visit, settled the N200,000 hospital bill of one Mrs Chinwendu Iwu from Nwangele, who had a surgical operation at the teaching hospital.

Iwu, who could not hold back tears of joy, thanked the governor for his magnanimity and prayed God to bless and help him complete his good works in the state. (NAN)

Imo Lifts Embargo On Employment

Posted by admin on Oct 24th, 2014 and filed under South East. .

Rochas Okorocha of
Imo State, yesterday announced the lifting of embargo on employment into the state civil service.
Okorocha who announced the lifting of the embargo while addressing permanent secretaries in the civil service who visited him at Government House, Owerri, explained that the recruitment would be made from workers already involved in the Youth Must Work Programme and in accordance with the civil service guidelines.
A statement by Jane O. Amucha, on behalf of Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, said the governor also disclosed that buses would be provided to convey civil servants to and fro their offices, free of cost, thereby easing transport burden.
Governor Okorocha pointed out that while politicians in other parties were concerned about elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, was committed to executing more projects, completing and commissioning existing projects for the betterment of the state.
“There will be more projects and we will be stronger than when we started,” he said.
He thanked the permanent secretaries for working as a team and remaining dogged in their belief in the “Rescue Mission” government, not allowing political opponents to use them to fight government while he commended them for “being part of the success story in the state.”
Okorocha directed the Head of Service, HoS, to submit a list of senior officers who would be deployed as principal officers to supervise certain government projects and ensure proper maintenance.
Speaking on 2015 elections, Okorocha stressed the need to give Ndi-Igbo its rightful positions at the federal level and called on the people of the South-East to support any Igbo man vying for the presidential seat.
He insisted “I will neither allow the Igbos to be forgotten as a people nor tolerate the long years of marginalization Ndi-Igbo have suffered in Nigeria.”
Earlier, Imo State Head of Service, HoS, Mr. Calistus Ekenze, said they came to present birthday gifts to the governor as well as thank him for approving the celebration of the 2014 Civil Service Week in the state.
Mr. Ekenze explained that the celebration, which kicked off yesterday, would feature many presentations, starting with a march past competition among the Deputy Governor’s Office, House of Assembly and Ministries. He also appreciated the contributions of some sponsors in providing cash and items for a successful event.
The HoS used the occasion to invite Governor Okorocha to the grand finale holding on November 6, revealing that an award will be conferred on the governor by Imo workers on that occasion.
