Self criticism is important. These ugly scenes shown by Chino are from SE states - not just from Imo state.

Nigeria has since created the type of Biafra it wants for the SE, but we do not seem to see it; whenever one is entering any of the SE states from outside the SE, one immediately gets the feeling of entering a worse Third World country.

SE leaders need to deploy available resources into providing infrastructure for the masses - such as pipe borne water, roads, educational, primary and tertiary health, etc, instead of going for vainglory projects, mostly in their state capitals.
Self acclaimed Orlu man. I blame people like Abagworo for giving you needless attention. He was foolish enough not to see your real self behind the smoke screen. Ndigbo unu fugo ya, na ndi iro ka nku n'etiti anyi.

Agukagu:

Some paid agents are all over the social media spreading lies. The Bible said woe to those that call evil good. Imo gwuru agwu. The standard of the construction work in Imo State is embarrassingly shameful. The painful aspect of substandard construction work is that we will spend another money to excavate and dispose the materials used before remedying the work. This implies double expenditure. A well constructed road may cost more but will remain in service for long. What is the need of constructing roads that will serve only a couple of weeks? Why can't our roads be like the ones in Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Ebonyi, Lagos, Abuja etc.

I am a civil engineer and I can confidently tell you that all the roads you mentioned were poorly constructed and can not withstand traffic stress for up to 1year. Check out the roundabouts: it is against design principle in traffic engineering to obstruct the view of drivers with structures. Our standard is that a driver approaching a round about must have clear view of the feeder roads to the roundabout as such structures that obstruct driver's view are not to be sited on the round about. I feel ashamed that Imo with our population of technocrats are being disgraced with the charade going on in the state in the name of construction. Please let us leave politics out of this and call a spade a spade.

^^^I've always complained about the quality of delivered projects in Imo State....and it's not just the roads! Governor Okorocha is spreading the states meager resources too thinly, and wants to construct many projects at the same time. But the problem now arises when he resorts to using local 'political' civil engineers to do these jobs; and after all the kick-backs and contractors profits have been removed from the already pitiable contract sum, you're now left with next to nothing to do the actual job! The problem is made even worse by the inexperienced contractor who is way in over his head with the contract he supposedly won in a competitive and transparent bidding process!

Do you mind him. Just because of Imo, Chino has scrapped the internet for all sort of bad pictures all over sub-saharan africa. Even going to the extent of posting pictures from slums in Benin, Aba, Warri, Onitsha, Cameroun, and even Zambia. Shame on Chino.

That's just the main reason Chino shouldn't be taken serious. Vanbonattel might not be him as I thought.

@Vonbonattel, Look closer, lots of those pix Chino is showing are federal roads in the southeast.

Even if Okorocha roads in Imo state are substandard, the fact that he opened up and linked communities that were once locked out must be appreciated.

Pls reread my posts - as an Orlu man - not a self acclaimed Orlu man - I make constructive criticisms on Okorocha govt, and praise it where necessary, I am not one of those praise singers for whom development in Imo state is posting hotels and well-paved streets in Owerri.

my friend, this advice of yours lacks dept and reasoning. The world is actually bigger than SE&SW bickering, bigger than the Local tribalism existing in the entire Nigeria and West Africa today.
Grow beyond that and see better Frontiers to take on in Asia,Europe,South and north America.
If the evaluation of our worth is based on the impressions and opinions of our SW neighbors and our most important pursuit becomes to shape those opinions using such antics as you outlined above ,then i dare say we have failed as a people. A disgrace to the generations of our forebears who soiled the earth with their blood fighting for the land of the rising sun.

Since Okorocha demystified governance in Imo State, most professional politicians have seen him as a threat to their survival as people now know the little money received by Imo State is enough to achieve so much in 4 years and still make education free. They have been looking for excuses to prove that the money is not enough. These include but is not limited to

1) Terming Imo roads substandard when every inner village road in Nigeria is equally same standard.

2) Claiming he has borrowed beyond limit when he has not really borrowed much compared with other Southeast States.

3) Calling him Muslim and creating religious hate so that there will be crisis in Imo.

4) Planting bomb at Winners Church but fortunately Okorocha's vigilante caught the bombers only for powers from above to release them and bury the case.

5) Physically destroying some sections of roads to prove they are not solid and then taking pictures of same to post on social networks.

6) Looking for any problem that has not been solved and blaming Okorocha.

7) Turning a blind eye to the obvious beauty of Owerri while foreigners(Americans) that visit Nigeria sing the praises.

Back to dividents, the health sector is not left out

Okorocha declares free prostate and breast cancer screening at new diagnostic centre.

Governor  Rochas Okorocha has called on men from 40 years and above and women in the State to come to the Ochiedike Dialysis and Diagnostic Centre, Owerri and receive free tests for Prostate and Breast Cancer respectively.

Owelle Okorocha who declared this while commissioning the Ochiedike Dialysis and Diagnostic Centre, said the Centre which is 100% Imo State Government-owned, is in a 15-year contract with Israeli Medical Personnel to manage the centre while Medical experts resident in Israel will monitor activities in the centre as to assist wherever necessary.

Governor Okorocha said the Centre is named after his late father ‘Ochiedike’ who died of kidney failure resulting from diabetes, recounting that the trauma made him (Governor) vow to fight of the disease.

He noted that cancer has claimed the lives of many but noted that when detected at early stage, the disease can be handled and the patient’s life saved; stressing that with the modern and adequate facilities in place and the medical team working at the Centre, people of the South-East and Nigerians at large will have no need of going to India again for treatments on kidney, cancer and other illnesses

High definition camera technology is one weapon which can always be used against people trying to dismiss change or obvious rapid development. The picture below is unarguable about its date and state.

We can use our eyes and see the changes between October 2012 and 2014. The housing development is unprecedented and is going on simultaneously with the road. As evident from the 2012 picture the roads were almost entirely isolated 2 years ago but the area is almost filled up today with private property investments. Not Government!

if Rochas is working and you criticize him, it does not remove what he has done rather it pushes him to do more. if he is not working and you are criticizing him, it keeps him uncomfortable and forces him to do something about the bad publicity. either ways the REAL people of IMO gains. afterall the truth they say cannot be drowned for too long.
But imagine if actually he is not doing anything and some paid agents successfully hoodwinks us with well orchestrated media propanganda? what happens is that we IMO people becomes worse off for it, we lose and they gain.

Keep up the good work both sides

you have the right to sing alleluia for Okorocha as he spreads huge development infrastructures in Owerri.

I say things as they are: Rochas Okorocha rode piggyback to power on the name Orlu zone where he made huge promises and scored huge number of votes.

[b]Since May 2011,
Okorocha govt has not established any REAL economy/population-boosting project in Orlu; only market stalls and roads that must wear away any time soon.

Okorocha govt partially damaged Orlu stadium, a stadium that hosted FIFA competitions before Okorocha came to office. Hope for functional new or old stadium here fades every new day - building a stadium is not like building a market stall. No organised sports here since 2011.

Orlu ask Okorocha for a deserved multi-faculty govt university, or multi-faculty IMSU campus, but for his interest in his private university in Ogboko, Okorocha plays Orlu people around with school of health and three depts of Imopoly.

More than 70% of vital roads started in Orlu area by Okorocha govt remain uncompleted, Okorocha does not leave such roads in Owerri uncompleted for long. If Okorocha leaves office as Orlu is today, the area is in deep trouble.

Without completing Orlu drainage system, most of the existing roads in Orlu shall be washed away in due course.

In other states, Okorocha's Ochiedike Diagnostic Centre Owerri, should have gone to boost study and image of the state's university teaching hospital. But the teaching hospital at Orlu remains uncompleted and without a good access road since 2011.

Truth is that Nigeria through military governors and PDP-imposed governors had led the southeast for decades - except Gov Okorocha. SW has since been voting to liberate their states from imposed governors. Anyhow, do you not notice a worse Third World scenario once you enter Aba from Akwa Ibom or Rivers state, or once you enter Onitsha from Asaba? Southeast states need governors that begin with counting 1 before 2 - if SE governors establish the best hospitals without first providing their subjects with treated pipeborne water, is it not like counting 1 before 2? Good sanitation begins with having clean water.

check your history very well, Igbo military officials like Ike Nwosu, Ike Nwachukwu and co ruled states like Lagos, Oyo, Kaduna etc.

You mentioned coming to Aba from PH and Akwa Ibom, Onitsha from Asaba but fail to mention Enugu from Lokoja, Umuahia from Ikot Ekpene, Owerri from Aba and Onitsha. Tell the respective govs of the 2 aforementioned cities to pay appropriate attention to them instead of attributing the failure to SE as a whole. You and i know that Enugu, Owerri and Umuahia are one of the best cities in Nigeria according Nigeria standard.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by oneeast: 7:28am On Nov 03, 2014
Remove Onitsha from you calculations. Entering Onitsha from Niger bridge looks beautiful and welcoming. The sight is cool and serene to behold and befitting of a gateway city, that is if you have been to Onitsha in the recent time. Onitsha is witnessing an infrastructural renewal that has set the city on the path of steady growth as a front-line city like Lagos, PH and Kano. Below is the outlook on entering Onitsha from Lagos-Benin-Asaba axis.

Imo Wins NCAC Quiz

Students of the Government Secondary School Owerri, Imo State have emerged winners of the eighth edition of the National Culture Quiz Schools Competition which took place last Wednesday in Awka, Anambra State.

At the contest organized by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Akwa Ibom and Anambra states came second and third, respectively with Grace Olawale (Akwa Ibom) and Awuzie Ugochukwu wining best female and male contestants.

Initiated as a youth cultural enlightenment and value orientation platform, the quiz won last year by Edo State, seeks to ground Nigerian youths in the values of their immediate cultural environment, as well as expose them to their shared inheritance with youths from across the nation.

In her remarks, NCAC boss, Mrs. Dayo keshi solicited a synergy between educational institutions, parents and other stakeholders to combat massive and multifaceted evasion of Nigeria's culture by foreign influences.

"If needed, the future and development of any nation lies with children. A lot needs to be done to nurture them in the right way as no nation develops without embracing the right moral values and ethics," she said.
