Precisely! In addition in Atlanta,, u must also retrieve yr luggage n check it back in. I don't think u can transit into US soil without a (transit) visa, unless yr country doesn't need entry visa...like d Canadians he mentioned. Moreover airlines won't airlift u without d appropriate entry docs!
My humble submission
Also, even if u are on transit in the US, you'd still need to clear customs and immigration; unlike some other countries.

[b]Mine was last year September,
I was to attend a graduation party of a friend in New York. I applied for Visa through my the Abuja Office and when they called me for an interview, I wasn't feeling too well but went all the same. I stood for about 3 hours with empty stomach on a queue so long like cars during fuel scarcity.
A girl (a buttee) whom I was chatting saw the way I was leaning on the wall took pity/interest in me asked me what the matter was, and I told her I wasn't feeling too well and was hungry also. She told me to secure her line while she went to get me food but before she got back, my interview was over and my visa approved. I stood outside waiting for her while about 7 people had gone in and when she came back I told the people that she was on the queue before and that she just went to get me food - pointing to the food pack on my hand... for where, dem no gree.
She told me to eat my food that she'll handle it well. I started eating the rice and fish while chipping in points in their argument.
Long story short... She got angry and called someone from State House/VILLA and within 5 mins her name was called, she entered and didn't spend up to 5mins and her visa was approved. She came out booing the people on queue and decided to walk me to the car while I enquired why she didn't pull her connect from the beginning and allowing us stand that long. She smiled and said "At times you need to avoid showing off" (I don't know what she meant by that. She demanded we exchange contacts... Just when I stretched my hand to collect her phone.........I puked on her and those people on the queue just started laughing at us.
I just use shame enter my car zoom off.... grin

You made this up. Hope it makes a fine entry into one of your novels. wink wink

They are all mad in the US Embassy and also silly.Do they think their country is heaven? With all the stupid strict measures preventing people from going into their useless country, there are still very many illegal immigrants there. Our people in this country are just morons and fools. Why would someone be desperate to go to US; gets denied at the embassy then starts begging. They are just disgracing us in this country. Most of our people there are just suffering and indirectly developing their useless economy there. They left their own country here to go become slaves in US or other countries all in the name of what.

If there country was all that better economically, why the hell are the bastards coming to Nigeria to invest. Awon Oloshi!!!

I would still say the US infrastructure, justice system, is still superior to what obtains in Nigeria. There is little basis of comparison there.

However, the US is not the economic eldorado it once was. 100s of Americans are yearly renouncing their US citizenship, including Facebook co-founder, Sergei Brin.

Don't mind them. They're just being overly security conscious in the post 9-11 world. In the UAE, you don't need to go thru immigration.

Read again:
He did not mention transit visa.

All Delta Airline flights transit in Atlanta, so he must have had the opportunity to walk around the transit area before boarding the Canada leg.

If it's any comfort to us, it is also rumoured that getting Nigerian visa is very difficult for foreigners. Our own consular offices carry the Nigerian i-don't-care attitude with them and nothing gets done at the right time. If the other countries revenge against us, then know that we will be sleeping for days in places like Walter Carrington

Yes they do background checks I can confirm that. They check your financial status (Embassy Enquiries) and confirm it with financial institutions. For people who cook up financial details or especially when the account do not belong to you. Just don't waste your time, you would be denied.

Not in all cases my friend.

Majority of Americans who renounce their citizenship do so because of Uncle Sam.

Well! My own US embassy experience was quite funny, it was in year 2001. I wanted to travel with my big bro, my visa was denied and my birth certificate seized because they concluded I wasn't going to return if I go. I tried 4 more tyms within 2 yrs making all 5 times all together. Since then I just fashi them and I tried Canada visa once and it was granted. My mistake then now dawned on me that I was too anxious and fidgeting like my whole world depend on it. But anyways I have been in and out of Canada and I realized no big deal about these western countries but if u have never travelled before it can be a serious aspiration though. My little advice ! Pls do not attempt to travel to d US or any other developed countries if u do not have anybody to help u with initial accomodation and stuff. If not nah one chance be dat.

Chief that's because you got a job and your company must have done a letter of introduction. So they know you have a reliable source of income and you wont run away. Hence, hotel and tour package mean nothing to them because if you are serious, you will definitely sort that out.

U are so right.

That is not how Delta works. Atlanta is their hub, and they do not go direct to Canada from Lagos. You MUST , I emphasize the MUST, disembark clear immigration, and do a plane switch. You cannot clear immigration without a visa. This is my job, I know how it works. He's a liar

U are absolutely right

@Boss13 please don't be too sure of things you say. I just got my tourist visa and I filled the visa form at about 20 minutes before I went to the embassy for my interview. So when do you suppose secuirity checks were carried out at my bank and office? My mom also filled hers the morning of her interview and she got hers too and she is a pensioner. So pls dont mislead people.

What nonsense! I pray throughout my life, i never have to beg someone for the chance to enter another country. I love Nigeria to a fault and i'm not freaked about anywhere else. If i really need to travel somewhere else, for school perhaps, i still wouldn't beg anybody...i'd rather forget about that school.

NIGERIA is the best place to be.
The more reason why you have never been anywhere but Naija. You can't say that Fanta tastes better than Sprite if u haven't tasted both...

NIGERIA is the best place to be.

Without prejudice

The only way Nigeria can be considered the best place to be is if it is compared against itself.

Finish.

Those who do will not be queuing for visa at US embassy, its express with note verbale

Not all carry red passports. State Security Service officials, medical personnel, State House correspondence (journos) do not carry red passport. And they need visa.

Not always, some countries allow visa free entry to diplomatic passport holders.

Even when they do you will never see them queuing for visa or attending visa interview because somebody in the ministry will deal with all that.
Re: Funny Experience At The Us Embassy Lagos by dotman2460: 10:57am On Nov 07, 2014
Sure. Most, if not all diplomatic passport holder do not require a visa before they travel. But ALL official passport holders require one.
