So as big and famous Kano State claims to be, there is no much to show for IGR!

You know, the core northerner's leaders are the most irresponsible leaders in the country.

But I read sometimes ago that their present governor went to lagos with some of his officials to learn one thing or the other to boost their IGR.

It is a shame that we have converted this into a tribal war rather than ask pertinent questions such as accountability for the Internal Generated Revenue and transparency in the process these funds are generated. As a taxpayer in Lagos, I feel the state owes me a duty to explain how my money was utilised.

Try the Lagos State official website. It is virtually the most comprehensive and informative in Nigeria with detailed and up to date information about the income and expenditure of the State.

That is exactly what we are saying, that issues should be discussed based on its merit and demerit so we can all learn from it, but the displayed many people on this topic shows clearly that they are jealous

exactly @ the bolded....... thats why i still cant believe posters who cant make a connection between increased population and increased IGR.

the truth is that even in sane societies, taxes make up a good percentage of revenue.taxes are not a bad thing provided the government taxes REASONABLY.
Thank you bruv, thats the point i was driving at before some clannish dolts came at me with their pseudo-superior knowledge and veiled tribal slur.

You have spoken well cool

I like the price of oil to go to ten dollars per barrel.

What is the essence of high oil price when we know that it will be stolen by all levels of governments.

Increase in IGR is not merely a function of tax collection but in a way shows how functional and effective governance is within that domain. In order to effect such collection one must put in place effective, supportive policy manned by well experienced professionals.

So gentlemen and ladies it is simply not just about tax collection

Kano will be able to generate more revenue if agro-allied industries industries, agriculture and more commerce can be encouraged.
All these are down to investment in power, road, rail and dry port. Federal government need to provide most of of these infrastructures in the first place and kano govt need to invest wisely in human capital starting with the abolition of the almajiri system etc.

I do not expect your ewedu brain to acknowledge the fact that population explosion has an impact on IGR in a tax regime. You can revel in self-praise and over-hyping of your deceptive party... your fvcking business cool

Now tell me since you brother gbawe keeps shying away from the question, is it the dirty, haggard looking Yoruba woman with babies on their backs selling ewa-agoyin, okpa eyin(he local drink) or is it the touts and agberos at various bus stops in lagos or the omonile that fleece land owners that makes up the value of Lagos IGR?

You can keep on running round in circles like a headless chicken...not like i care

Idiotic sons of a nobody like you assumes your forefathers are the milk on which lagosians were breastfed. If poverty, hunger and hopelessness has no permanent residency in your enclaves what will make your daft senses leave your homes and village to go seek greener pastures elsewhere?

A mofo like you forgot that the highest number of destitutes selling secondhand clothing whichyour and your entire lineage picks your christmas cloths from and those who run the streets of lagos selling la casera and gala and your sisters fighting for leg space at opebi roundabout and allen junction are a drain on our resources.

Fashola gave your folks free bus ride to onitsha headbrigde yet you all cried your heads off up to the united nations. Why not go back to your hellholes and turn it into eldorado or is there no market in Aba or Onitsha ? Is it a force to die like urchins and destitute in another mans land

Serious minded governor can provide all those with real determination. They should not wait for the federal government to do meaningful things with their lifes. Our problem in this country is that we lack determined leaders.

Also apc governors (yoruba governors) are not interested in agriculture.

On almajiris brothers you are right it is wicked system, while their leaders would be sending their children to the best universities abroad, the almajiris brothers are facing untold suffering.

You know taxation. You must have studied accountancy no doubt. I encourage people to go download the PWC taxation act 2013/14 for Nigeria and get educated on taxation. Getting tired of the noise with Lagos state generating more IGR.

No bro, I'm actually an Engineer, a professional mariner with wide and broad sense of various aspects of human endevours. I engage and remit tax returns of my employees to the state government hence I know how tax and remittances work.

Not true. The cost od a modern modular rail network, for example, is very high. This is why even Lagos has not completed irs own model. The FG must assist states more in terms of critical infrastructure and one of the ways to do this would be to reform bloated federal governance so that more is made available dor States to spend on the socio-economic drvelopment of Nigeria.
