my application on payoneer is yet to sail through, i obtained my international passport and sent it to them as they requested, but they requested for an ID or government utility bill bearing my name and address

. Let's say milestone is like an escrow account or a deposit the employer have made to freelancer which would be released to you by the employer as soon as you complete his project. If after completion of the project the employer did not release the milestone you can requested for it to be released through your account.

For people who plan to withdraw for Xmas or New year - I read it today on freelancer.com that there will be no processing from 21st to 28th of December. That means you cannot withdraw funds for one week. So, you have today (Sunday 14th) and Wednesday(17th) to make withdrawals before the new year.

They say "nothing good comes easy". Well, that phrase is relatively true... Most especially in the world of online business. I've come to undoubtedly believe that making money online is as real as agege bread, and after a notable period of scrutiny, I decided to try freelancing.
I was introduced to this thread a few months ago but then, I hadn't fully embraced the concept of freelancing. But after reading your experiences I feel like its worth a shot.
Now I feet lucky to have the opportunity of literally killing three birds with one stone, which is: writing, earning money from it and most importantly, having absolute freedom.

Since every business has its own kind of guides and secrets, I managed to comb the internet in search of books, articles, journals, videos e.t.c in search of the guides/secrets that governs the world of freelancing for newbies .
I have read through and followed this thread as a ghost member, as well as read all the e-books authored by our honourable madam (ladywriter). And oh, I bagged a lot of tips and ideas from most of us here. After the task of combing, I came up with a few points to guide newbies like myself in the art of freelancing.

PATIENCE:
Rome wasn't built in a day. I liken succeeding in freelancing to building rome not to imply that it is an impossible venture but to warn newbies like myself that it would take some time, and of course some hardwork too.
My advice is that as a newbie, don't wholly depend on freelancing for survival, at least for a start. Don't quit your job or business immediately.
You need to have to some sort of income to support yourself while you work on boosting your freelancing profile to a reputable stage. Only then is it safe to solely depend on freelancing as a source of income.
Having a side income helps a newbie to focus more on building a reputable profile overtime without being easily burnt out and discouraged due to some early challenges such as low pay rates.

BUILD A GOOD PROFILE/REPUTATION:
Freelancing like every other business is a competition,so every newbie must be prepared to build a profile that is attractive and stands out. With a good profile/reputation, it is a lot easier to compete and win bids hence making more money.
Crystal clearly, building a good profile is the foundation of a successful freelancing career. As our madam adviced, its cool to start as a writer. A newbie must be ready to stoop low (yeah, for a start), work hard and also do excellent jobs so as to earn good reviews from employers and high ratings from freelancer.
Also like our madam did advice, it is important to write as much relevant exams as possible. Personally, I plan to write relevant exams with the first $50 I earn.
Yeah working your butt off to build a good profile is going to be tough but the benefit that comes in the long run is worth it. At that point in future, you work less and earn more just like the greats.

DO EXCELLENT JOBS:
Excellent jobs gives you great reviews, period. Aside that, you might be lucky enough to land some good long term jobs and also get referrals from employers to other employers. That way you don't have to bid repeatedly for new jobs. I learnt this tip from '2sexy' and 'favourume'.
Again, doing excellent jobs reduces the instances of disputes and withheld payments. I don't mind spending 1 hour on a 30 minute job, just as long as I do it right. So as a newbie, it is really important to pay attention to job details, aim to surpass the employer's expectation and deliver on time too.

As a newbie, it is advisable to start up on one freelancing platform then channel enough effort into it and build up a good profile than trying to build up on various platforms and having nothing solid on any. Also learn to focus on a particular niche and build a reputation with it and then move to build on more niches later.

Also every freelancer must have the hunger for growth. Read articles, e-books, watch videos e.t.c. because there's always room for improvement as knowledge is power.
As madam ladywriter would always advice, the more you learn is the more you earn and I wouldn't doubt that for a second. At some point, I plan to own a website to boost my profile.

Every newbie must grow a tough skin before starting a freelancing career. In a nutshell, Be ready to face tough times but also have the courage to keep pushing. Tough times like low pay rates, disputes, difficulty in winning bids, having to still type even when your fingers ache e.t.c would come but like I said, I would keep pushing.
I've read and learnt a lot from experiences here: from creamnchic and favourume's (and others too) testimonies to the lamentations of a few others here Lol. All in all, I've gathered that determination can pull me through.
And no, I don't think I'm a good writer or that I'm overly educated but I know that I'm a 'hustler' who can do things right through hardwork, and that defines determination.
I always loved the internet and the freedom of entrepreneurship so freelancing sums it up for me.
At some point in future (when I'm big enough), I hope to make freelancing my sole source of income. I know I few folks who are online entrepreneurs and live well. So Yes, I can.

I think I'll have to use PayPal because its faster and luckily for me it is legal in the country where I reside. I hope its okay?.

Thanks for this wonderful thread. I signed up on freelancer over 2 years ago but somehow considered it out of reach. Well, in October I decided to try it again when they sent several emails offering a free upgrade. So I retrieved my password and spent a lot of time exploring the site and learning (wish I had this thread then). Fortunately, that same day I landed a $50 project that took me about 3 days to complete and was very easy, plus I learned a lot from doing it! I was gingered and I persevered.... Wrote one exam from my earning and had my membership renewed at month end.
Come Nov. 1st, I unbelievably won a project worth over $1000! Hmm, it was a lot of work o, writing social posts based on clients' businesses. I even had to outsource some to my brothers.
It was after I started on that job that I started wondering how to withdraw my earnings and I discovered this thread through Google. I read through and immediately signed up for a Payoneer card. I emailed Ladywriter and she put me through.
I just completed the project yesterday and the money is cooling off in my Freelancer account, while my card is on the way
I hope to encourage other newbies like me to keep at it and when you do get the jobs, do them well so as to get glowing reviews. They help. And for all those asking basic questions, do read up on the thread. Most of the answers are already up there. The projects I've done so far have been based on Social media though I bid for all sorts
Visiting the thread again tonight, I just learned that I can buy exams with my credits, of which I have over 5,000 just languishing there! Thanks o
