Myluv1: If we had thinking governors, they'd have found ways to de-congest Onitsha. The most logical solution would be to build infrastructure to link Onitsha with towns towards the North. We don't have thinking governors, so Onitsha is expanding in the direction of Asaba. 1 Like |

[quote author=OreMI22 post=28259647] NO. NO I disagree. There are several ways to solve a problem. Each with its peculiar features. That design serves the same function as the upper iweka flyover but with a different pattern. Look well. There is crossing u dear the bridge through which u can connect to any side of the express. You may be exposing your poor understanding of the design. Again there isn't enough space for the clover leaf design used in upper iweka. Don't criticize for the sake of it 1 Like |

HappyJoe:De-congesting a city that solely thrive on business is not a child's play. Sometimes when you move from one business location to the other you will lose customers depending on the kinda business you're doing. Business activities in Umuahia was killed because Ta orji moved their market to another location though he built it like the Nigerian standard but that relocation forced many traders to open street markets. So at Onitsha, relocation of market should be done with ease to avoid traders opening up new branches at Asaba and moreover personally I won't like to see Onitsha get de-congested because my presence here is to promote the great OTU CITY because people especially those who has not been to Anambra and East to some extent has talked down Onitsha in a disgusting manner which I don't like. I will like to see anything that will make Onitsha to grow more in economic activities which number1 of them is population, big markets(which onitsha already have) industries and bubbling hotels and hang out spots. So my point be say, town planning should be fully enforced on neighboring towns at Onitsha to make it grow maturely. 2 Likes |

HappyJoe:You mean even now, seriously? Are you feeling sleepy? How else can Onitsha be decongested if not by spreading developments to every nook and cranny of the state as commenced by the immediate past state govt and continued by the present govt? The current development in Onitsha metro is growing towards Awka at one end and towards Nnewi at the other, just as that of Awka is coming down to meet up with that of greater Onitsha and towards Nnewi as well. Time has passed when Asaba was our safe haven. 2 Likes |

Dicongesting Onicha is as easy as ABC and the work is in progress now that is why those markets are sited towards Ogbunike, Umunya and Oba sides. When the expansion is fully done many people in Asaba might stop leaving there because of proximity, Bridgehead, Ogbo-Ogwu and Ogbo Rod are the major residents of Asaba doing business in Onicha. When Ogbo rod is relocated to Ogbunike you will see how that place will ballon up, Do you know that Rojenny now is a thriving neighbourhood with the usual highrise residential abodes and great streets, by the market at Oba is completed you will see whay will happen to the population of that side. Ogbaru would have taken the place of Asaba but it cost alot to build there, you spend fortune filling foundation because the place is swampy and waterlogged tabletman1: 1 Like |
