What Should I Do With This House Help? Pls, Advise. by dein77(m): 7:25am On Jan 13, 2015
Good morning, my good people.

As I type, I'm still in the office; just concluded my night duty.
Around 1157pm, late last night, I received an urgent and somehow troubling call from my wife.
He said, she was awakened to consciousness by the loud shout from our son; our first child. Frantically, she rushed down to their room, and grabbed him, and pampered him. She said his bladder was full, and wanted to use the toilet.

But the shocking thing was that, she didn't meet our house help, an 11-year old in their room. She became troubled and headed straight to the sitting room, where she found her standing alone in the dark sitting room. He looked shocked and confused as my wife quietly sneaked into the parlour and put on the light.

This singular event has created some confusion in the house.

What was she doing alone in the dark? At that odd hour?

She told my wife she had gone to use the toilet. But why would she stand in the dark, all alone, and unconcerned with the scream from our son?

She was employed to assist us in the home.

Brethren, I'm a little bothered. A little troubled. My kids are very important to us, and their safety must be ensured at all times.

What should I do when I get him? Am I being fearful? What should I do?

Please, your inputs are welcome.

Thanks, and Shalom.

She got the need to urinate and she went to urinate except she did it while still sleeping. It is not so odd jare.

And your maid is 11? Child abuse man

Lemme leave before the deliverance crew comes in

Well, if you are not comfortable with the situation, replace her.
But I feel an 11 year old girl is probably too young to be an house help.

Nope sir. She's fully treated with much regard and respect- exactly the same way my kids are treated.

Things are rough with her parents.

Back to quote: I'm still troubled Bro. But you do have a point there. .

I don't subscribe to using underaged kids as help but that's story for another day.

Why did your wife not ask her ie the help straight up what she was doing, standing there all alone? It could be she sleeps walks or could even be your son's screams that scared her, who knows?. If the help has been good to you, I see no reason to be worried about this singular act,imo she was sleep walking. If you are worried get and install security cameras.

Ask that girl questions on what she was doing in the dark.

And please, find an older maid. An 11 year old girl used as a maid is child abuse. If you are to render help to an 11 year old girl, its not a must she must be used as a maid.

It will be better not to even justify it
You called her your househelp
You expected her to jump up and resume duty and see to what your kid needed in the night
If you want to help someone, then you help them .. . not turn them to househelps
You could pay the school directly her school fees and leave her with her parents if you really want to help

I dont know the reason why you opened this thread. Maybe you want to hear people tell you that she is a witch . . .
What about Your own son that screamed for no apparent reason at 11,57? Is that normal behaviour?
Just shows you that Kids do all sorts of things.

Duh! An 11 years old girl also needs someone to run to her when she screams incase you don't know.

The girl was probably sleep walking, I know people who do worse while at it, she just stood quietly in the dark, where's the crime in that?

She probably heard the scream, stood up and started sleepwalking, which explains her confusion as the lights came on, na wa o.

I will really think the house help sleep-walks, it might not be an everyday thing but you really have to watch her closely just incase its something else...
When I was young I know I was an original sleep-walker, although I don't think anyone has caught me in the act but they wake me up in the craziest of places; on the floor, under the bed, inside the old baby court, back of door, just name it

As for having a young house-help, my sister have one that young because she needs someone to stay/ with her 3 years old son after school (they both attend school) and also do some minor duties like dishes... She's not a relative and she Is being paid as a house-help so how do you expect her to be addressed? although she has a nanny too.

In that case if you are that fearful, dont let anyone in your home . .anyone at all
Let everyone clear up after their own mess; do their own cleaning and cooking
Home school your kids yourself so they dont mix up with witches and demons in the school playground
Dont travel to the village at Xmas
Before you sit on your chair in the office, call a pastor
Dont eat at parties or outside
Witches and demons are everywhere

Personally I refuse to be scared by what may never be
My going to church every week and my relationship with God will be a waste.
Live your life in truth and in goodness
God Himself will fight your battles.
if you are good no need to be fearful.

It's really a pity.

I shared a room with my cousin, his wife and their one year old baby when we traveled to the village for the festive period, this baby screams sometimes at night and the mum just pets her, sometimes I do the petting and she goes back to sleep, sometimes we don't even touch her, she just rolls over and goes back to sleep.

Some people talk in their sleep, some chew etc. Someone can shout as a result of nightmare, for feck's sakes everything doesn't have to be the handiwork of witches/wizards.

Simply address her as your ward, then again you pay her so she is nothing but a house-help, don't just come and tell us she's being treated the same with your kids.

So an 11yr old is now employable?

Keep using people's children and hope yours get the best.

Now case closed... Wrong choice of word on the OP part....
Freecocoa have addressed the issue she's OP's 11 years old wardand not 11 years old Househelp

Yes she can be treated the same way as an 11 years old kid
Now you all can concentrate on another issue and not the age of the person living with OP.

Yes. I must admit it's really wrong to have such a very kid as a ward in the home. I wasn't particularly comfortable with it till i met with the mum who, due to hard circumstances, approved of it. But what's wrong remains wrong!

U guys have given me a new paradigm to this own saga. That's a story for another day.

To those who suggested she may be sleepwalking, I will also look into it. This girl has so far hasn't given us any challenges. Meanwhile I will be much vigilant.

I also added that if she's being paid to do the chores she does, she can't be said to be a ward, she's now a worker who gets paid for her job, which btw, is child labor.

When you look at the face of peoples adversity, even though you know its legally wrong your conscience will just permit you to take such a young one in and remit the money to the family to solve some other issues...

I am not justifying child labor but again... some situations are more than it catches the eyes
