yeah same thing happened in my own case. I was able to bring in egusi and ogbonno because they were well dried, ground and put in a transparent cellophane bag and well labelled. I even included the scientific names for both of them and the official at the Australian immigration centre was thoroughly impressed grin grin. However not every bag was checked as some people passed without opening their bags. Also make sure you answer any questions asked (while filling out the declaration form on the plane as well as when checked after landing) as truthfully as possible. Safe journey y"all

P.S- Is anyone heading to Sydney?

A state general hospital will give you a referral note to take to the federal ministry of health office close to you, that's where they will give you your yellow card... You don't have to take the vassine if well explained to the nurse in charge... A guy at the airport brought proof that he had done used the vassine recently he was asked to get the yellow card and he missed his flight that day...

I don't get. He brought proof, but they still insisted he take it?

There is no issue whatsoever with carrying foodstuffs, provided they are dried and well labelled. Plus you must declare them at the point of entry or the will fine you and discard them if discovered.

I know this from experience, I carried food stuff and most friends that arrived after me all brought in foodstuff.

What about Nigerian immigration/customs here? Cos I heard they can be jerks when it comes to carrying food.

I will just buy pre-packaged p.soup spice from the store, that already comes with labelling and ingredient list.

There was no problem at all with Nigerian officials concerning foodstuffs. The only "problem" you may encounter is having to "settle" them before boarding especially if your passport is a "virgin passport". If you stand your ground (though in a polite and firm manner) they have no choice but to let you go. If however you are over excited and happy, well you can decide to give them small kola grin

@boss lady, all na wash. They will ask you to bring the international food certificate, there is nothing like that. It is only meant to scare you into settling, just stand your ground and tell them you have been sending/taking foodstuffs abroad without that since the time of Adam. They told me exactly the same thing when I was leaving, just make sure you get to the airport early enough to argue with them. Otherwise, they will use time against you by way of delay tactics.

I am...It is beautiful in Perth! It's very clean and green and the people are nice. It still has a small town feel to it in some ways so you'd find that the shops still close at 5pm on the weekends and you might not find some of the big brand names you'd find over east. But regardless of that, it is a good place to start your Australian journey and I reckon you'd do just fine with your major.
