Her baby can do the test in Nigeria, it must not be in the US.( or better still, let the hospital tell her the amount before carrying out the test) lets be sensitive when we reply peoples post. haba... she has a right to decline, people decline hearing test, decline vaccines in the US, decline many things. Its her baby, her health, and her money...

Can we just give this case a rest? For some weird reasons practically everybody is interested in this issue and keep dragging it. Just let it go!!

Well maybe because I live in USA and believe in thorough medical check.....

you were not using any american mentally, you live in the States and you are on a thread for cost and procedures to give birth in the US. you misquoted her, apologize and move on, instead of trying to claim you are the king of the dance hall...

No one really cares if u live in the moon. Not all of us here live in naija. U were DEAD WRONG for twisting her post. Apologise and move on...quit tryna sound all smart and wiggle ur way out of it! Simple! In fact when I read ur post accusing her of blaming people here, I had to go back to what she posted to see if I missed a thing.
How do u know they're not trying to take her money Or because u think Americans can't be thieves? My dear please, since u are just here to show off ur location and not help folks, step away from the thread. All u have done is "school" people here like they never entered plane b4. U are even lucky she responded to u in a civil manner and didn't come for ur jugular, like some of us grin.
So just accept u were wrong and let it go. Hiss!

Ii think cherie24's case happened in Dubai ,i think what she said happened, was that she was asked during her visa interview if she was pregnant and she said no and later sent them a mail that she wanted to use the vsa for birthing purpose.,that was why her visa was revoked.
Now to your own case, did they ask your wife if she was pregnant when she went for her visa interview,if they did, what was her responce?
Did your wife use the visa for the training that it was issued for?
You have to answer these questions before i know how to advice you.

@dere5
No she wasnt asked if she is pregnant and she will not be traveling for the course she got the visa for.

I don come again. Pls some one said earlier that she used an agent to get baby's documents faster. Can't remember the page. Pls could someone assist me.on that? Want to leave this place as soon as possible cos I started my maternity leave weeks before I put to bed.

I used one Edwin guy like that for the nigerian visa but that was 3 years ago I can check my email for his details however you have to get the baby's BC first and then passport. I expedited so I got it at NY... I'll send a pm so I can call you directly.

Thanks segbas.
The doctor's name is Noelle niemand of Matlock Obgyn, Arlignton
The only thing I could present was my appointment letter: It was even my friend that got it for me cos the lady that U normally spoke to me from the hospital whenever I call says that she does not have access to e-mail facilities; only via fax which I too do not have access to. So, my friend overthere used her fax number to get the appointment letter with medical bills & scanned it to me. I wasnt able to communicate to thee doctor.
I have enough funds, the officer didnt even ask how much I had, my account statement.....
We were to stay with a family friend, hotel wasnt booked for

segbas:
@Miemiecious:
Sorry for your denial:

Which doctor are you using and the hospital,
Did you include all your email/fax conversations with the doctor's appointment you gave to the VO
Did you enough fund in your account?
Did you book for hotel or you want to stayed with relation?

Please respond to these so that people will know how to tackle this issue before your next appointment.

Hi,
This is the first time we are to travel as a family.
Thanks for your advise.
But what other change do you think I can make, Should i change the hospital? Location of the hospital or it should be in thesame area or I request the hospital to change the doctor?

ozycy:
. Adding to wat segbas asked, - -- have you travelled together with your hubby and baby? OR - is this the first time u ll be leaving the country as a family? I had similar experience wen I applied with my whole family even dou most of us had virgin passport and was denied. I later applied wt my mum and was given. So I suggest u apply alone first. Cos if u apply soon without much change in circumstances, u may be denied again cos the VO will most likely ask u what have changed since your last application.

Good Morning,
Pls i need some clarifications. Im in the process of filling my DS-160 form
1. Im applying for USA visa to give birth. I have a friend in Arlington texas but the hospital i've contacted is in Houston Texas(4hrs drive apart).
Who do you advise I use as my contact person & which location is best to put as my stay address.
Should I use my friend's contact for both or it's better i book for a hotel reservation in houston? If I book a hotel, who will be my contact person?

2. What is the best answer to tell a cosular officer if asked why I want to go & deliver at the US

3. What can make a consular officer steer at ones latter of appointment from USA doctor or hospital for a long time & say one is illegible

4. What is the chances of not being denied again after applying within 2 weeks of being denied the first time

Expecting your response pls

Is it possible that after getting Baby delivery and getting the Birth certificate, we leave USA on our own country passport.
Then apply for USA passport from the consulate in our home country.

A US citizen MUST DEPART or REENTER the United States on a US passport at all times.
Even though your baby can get dual citizenship through the parents, he cannot exercise that citizenship within the United states. Bottom line: As long as he is within the United States or in an American flagged carrier -His US citizenship overrides anything else.

@Uchetobi,
Pls, i need your help.
I have a friend that lives in arlington but I intend using doctor Fagbohun in houston.
Now to fill my contact details is an issue.
It's not advisable to stay with my friend because arlington is 4hrs away from houston.
So, i will have to make a hotel reservation in houston.
how do I fill my contact details & where i intend staying columns in my DS-160 form? Will the doctor be my contact person or still my friend?
How did you go about yours?

he/she said baby will leave with HOME country passport.

@baauh, yes u can apply for the US passport in your home country. The baby will have to be brought to the consulate though. I know for a fact that this works in Canada and Nigeria. People apply for their American passports in the American Embassy in Canada and it gets processed. The same applies for the Embassy in Abuja. It is also same thing for UK. So yes u can travel with your baby and apply in your home country as long as u have the BC and other required proof.
Doesn't apply to Americans in the United States. You must depart and reenter the country on a US passport if you are a citizen. You can then use whatever dual citizenship passport once you have departed .

Hey dear, I had my visa before baby, but when you are in labor how do u intend to come from Arlington (4hrs). That's not practicable.

Anyways for the purpose of visa il say definitely get a hotel reservation. Contact person put the dr's name since it's a b2 visa but contact address put the hotel

Don't forget to put the hotel budget (for like 8/10 wks) in ur spreadsheet and this should reflect in the bank balance you are showing

And I think you should leave your friend completely out of your application

Good luck

It is, but na so some people dai migrate, wife go first then husband , lmao, No mind me, husband here is a good tie to home country. I am not a VO, and I haven't even gone to US to birth before, I just dai try help. 4500 total is very good. It's about what we all got in different states.

Having a family and a good job used to be considered "strong ties" to ones home country in the good old days. Now, its on a case by case basis. You can't blame them with several people not returning or claiming to be married when they were not. Lagos consulate is considered one of the toughest for genuine travelers for a reason. A reputation that has lingered.

I totally agree. The last thing you want is to be dragged into explaining the practicability of your accommodation arrangements.

Thanks
i went with my husband & child cos they were going for B1/B2 to visit after my delivery
Mine was B2.
We were asked abt our job.....we responded
Why we were travelling.........we responded that for vacation & to give birth
Asked why we want to give birth in US..........for quality health services
Asked for documentation from US doctor..........i presented doctor's appointment letter, medical bills & budget sheet
He steered at those documents for a while & said we were not eligible
And that'a all.

Sometimes they deny the wrong people. Brush it off and try again.

@sayoberry, Oakbend charges $3500 for CS and $500 for each additional infant, abi has it changed? Pls let us know so we go take know to to arrange ourselves. Thanks

@segbas, here's the transcript of my visa interview. Got there at about 6.50am, interview was slated for 7.30am at Abuja. Got through all the check in processes and finally got to sit. Only one young white lady was interviewing initially bt was later joined by a young friendly white guy. Was praying to meet d guy cos the lady approved one person and denied 2peeps before me(tho I think she had reason to). I was the 4th person she interviewed. Went with my MIL.

VO: Goodmorning and how are you today?
We: very well, thank you. Goodmorning.
VO: she looks at screen- 'So you're going to have a baby?'
Me: BABIES, actually (with emphasis on the ies)- make she hear am well
VO: OH WOW. pass me ur doctor's correspondence and bank statements. I did that, including my dad's and MIL's statement and a letter from my dad. But ontop of the statements, I put my very bold/eye-catching budget spreadsheet (God bless the person that gave this info cos that's what impressed her)
VO: who is this from?(referring to my dad's letter/bank statement)
Me: it's my dad's, he's also supporting me.
VO: is this your own budget cost? (she scans through the spreadsheet meticulously and makes sure the items correspond to what Dr. fagbohun has in his letter to me)
Me: Yes Ma'am.
VO: are u having twins/ triplets?
Me: told her.
VO: turns to my MIL. How much do you earn?
MIL: told her, plus where she works
VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before
We: yeah
VO: where to exactly?
We: mentioned the countries
VO: what does your husband do?
Me: told her
VO: what city are you going to?
ME: Richmond, Texas
VO begins typing oh, I just dey sing praises/kabash for my mind.
VO: pick up your visas on Thursday.
We: thank you. We turned and left with so much joy.

In all I just thank God cos though I prepared well(thanks to phema's checklist and burden of proof), all that could have come to nothing if God didn't favour me/approve.
Be confident, pray seriously and hope for the best.

@all, have a blessed Sunday. Sorry for the long post.

Seconded...
I spoke with a friend last night (US National), he said same thing that he can't leave US with another passport unless he want his second country to be his first, and he won't be able to exercise US citizenship again.

Pls can you post their exact response,ii dont think they will revoke your visa without clearly informing you.. i think you will be informed clearly if your visa ie revoked,i dont think they would be so wicked enough to allow you to get to poe and then be turned back.. This is my 2 cent,i stand to be corrected.
Just lets see what their exact reply was,so that people here can advice properly.

The US embassy cannot determine the outcome at POE. Embassy is more like a high school were a student seats for his/her SS3 exams. The CBP officer is WAEC...even if your school followed all the procedures in conducting the exams WAEC still reserves the right to cancel the exams ( visa). So, writing later of intent to the embassy has no material bearing on the outcome at POE unless of course there was "material misrepresentation " at the interview stage which leads to a life time ban. So, as long as you have a valid visa and enough funds to pay for your medical bills (without becoming a liability to the American tax payer) you will be granted access at POE.

No actually its not free, pay your bill before leaving US. Don't abuse the system.

I agree absolutely.
You are playing with fire. you better remedy the situation before you depart. Even US citizens still make some type of payment towards healthcare unless you are taken to the emergency room without medical insurance. Even that bill is eventually still paid by US tax payers. You are NOT entitled to FREE medical service as a foreign citizen and you risk getting a 10 year Ban from the United states if you leave without clearing your debt. This will further complicate cases for others coming from home.
