Yeah you should cos teaching is one area where hands are seriously needed in SA and a lot of nigerians teach here especially in Durban, Johannesburg. SA is a nice place to stay provided you are focused, maintain a moderate lifestyle and avoid distractions. They've got lots of tourist attractions and places where you can have fun.
I will land in DUT for my Masters next week. It's cool reading this report. Yinka, are you in Durban?

Yes, they have a record of your visa and information on their system. However, that won't stop them from giving you a visa if you use a trusted agent who has links to the embassy people. SA embassy hardly issue visitors visa, unless you go through an agent who has link with them.

@Samtol4, where are you? Did you see this? LOL.

ATTENTION everyone, this is not true. Check the bolded part (I made it bold for emphasis). Ask all the people who have been coming back here to say thank you whether they paid a dime to any agent.

Bon voyage.

Instead of MTN, plan to use Telkom or 8ta wireless. They are a lot cheaper than MTN. 1G + 2G night for 150 Rands.

Cheers.

Even if you didn't register, your visa may still be valid (though the letter of the new law actually says you need to be registered. Contact the International Office and see how they can help.

@typop what the guy post is right due what happens to my colleague at work. He Apply for SA visa twice to visit his sister in SA, he got refused. And he later seek advice from a guy who let him knws that there is fasttrack that you pay amount of 60k. As he apply in January this true fasttrack he got his visa in the next 5days.
Same apply to my boss last year. He usually travels to Uk,US frequently.he and his family was denied SA visa.

bros... He is not right .He said" you can't get visa without trusted agent" .I 'm not disputing the issue of money exchanging hands between applicants and corrupt staff of the embassy but the bottom line is PEOPLE STILL GET VISA WITHOUT PAYING THAT 60k. .SA visa is getting harder to get because of past antecedent of Nigerians who over stayed. So any minor mistake in documentation/filling of form on the part of applicant will result to denial even if he or she has visited US,Canada and UK before .I stated earlier my family member visited me without paying any amount without any link .We only guide her in filling the forms by herself .I can recall also a member of this forum got visitor's Visa for a conference without paying for the so called fast tracking" and we chatted when he came,,he went back to Nigeria last week after the conference .For instance, someone applied for visa to attend a conference and the letter issued by the organizers is not signed and you want embassy to grant visa? However atimes they make stupid mistakes denying genuine and qualify applicants .Many factors can cause Visa denial(SA Embassy only ) I will state these factors when am less busy .

@samtol4 thank very much for this explanation, my mind is now cleared about this issue. Formally It looks as if SA trade on their visit Visa. Pls I urgently need those factors of that causes visa denial. Because I don't have 60k to give anybody freely

Truth is, some people already have it set in their minds that you cannot get visa without agents. A lot of those guys have stuff to hide (not all of them). For instance, I know this guy who didn't have any form of invitation to SA and only gave his passport to an agent with 120k. Guess what, he got his visa in 2 days.

However, if I know I have the right documents, why would I want to pay an agent 60k? For what? When the embassy has stated I can gather my documents and come apply myself.

Let's be clear, corruption is high in Nigeria but you don't have to join the bandwagon. I got my visa without paying anyone. I have helped people outside of this thread without them paying any dime (at least 4 in December only). People have come back to this forum and said thank you because they got their visas based on advise from people on this thread. And finally, I DO NOT know anyone in SA embassy.

Peace.

PS: This is not an invitation to send me PMs. I will not open your mail.Let's do everything in the open.

Depends on you bro. If you have the dough to travel to and fro, you may come over. However, I will advise you send them a mail and inform them exactly what you are trying to achieve and see how they can help. Also explain to them that you can cope with the lectures you have missed so far.

You copy your proposed mail here and let others advise you in framing the mail. That way, you can make the best use of the situation. Also, let someone inside get you the e-mail address of the guy in charge of their international students (that is the guy you will mail), the Head of Internationalisation (you will copy him) and if possible, DVC Academics (also to be copied).

This is my humble opinion.

Peace.
