The OP is worried that the guy does not have any form of investment, driving a car of N2 million without an investment is a very bad financial planning strategy.

The guy can buy a car of N1 million and have another N1 million invested in an income generating asset, likr real estate, money market instrument, small businesses or stocks in blue chip companies.

Dont be misled, maybe the vehicle is important for his work and earning a living.. Maybe living in the cheap simple rented place, is actually his attempt to save money so its not all spent on rent and car... Its really not sufficient evidence of anything unbalanced, until you see what he is earning versus what he is spending.. But yes its true, many do buy more than they can comfortably afford, just to appear more endowed than they are..
I am single and dont drive a car ,and live in a simple rented self contained.. But i own a Quadraplex house elsewhere, rented out to 4 separate tenants and I also own over 3000sqm land out in a quiet small town area, and that doesn't include my abandoned rights to land in Grandfathers village where he was the chief in Nigeria.. In addition, there is the matter of how much i earn and how much i have in savings..
When you look at me and see no car,living in rented small self contained, my clothes look like that of a common simple person and even faded color from old age,( I do spend quite well on good strong quality shoes though). You would easily think i was a waste of time even though you would end up picking another guy who has all you are looking for, but has not much money left because he bought has all the things you are looking for..
I always hear young girls talking on the bus, how they will never date a person who rides the bus, because they need a man who can afford a car.. They have no Idea that the money i save becaue of riding the bus, is enough to buy a second house or second land, and those girls will just rather put their behinds in some guys car to ride around, and they just grow fatter, and fatter and more discontented along every stage of accomplishment, and pressure their man to no avail but the growth of fat behinds and emotional torpor from the girl's selfish ways of reasoning...
I will wait for the poor bush girl who sees me and just takes me because she is happy to have someone pay her fare on the bus on our way to buy Boli and Epa... Then she will find herself surprisingly well endowed by a love that does not show off, yet grows out of simple frugal conservation of value that really matters...
