Igbo investors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to consider them when appointing a minister for the FCT, saying they control over 70 per cent of investment in the territory.

Speaking on behalf of the investors during a media briefing in Abuja, the chairman of Zaudan Pazeri Property Owners Association, Elder Friday Ugoala, said the interest of Igbos who have massive investments in the city should be considered when appointing a minister.

Ugoala said a situation where people who are not key stakeholders are appointed to oversee the wellbeing of residents negatively affects investors who are mainly Igbos.

He recommended that an Igbo man should be either be made a minister with an indigene as the minister of state or vice versa.

“It is on record that Igbos are key players in terms ownership of property, merchandise and hospitality outfits in the territory, and can lay a claim to over 70 per cent investment in the FCT.

“We have reasons to demand for the slot of a FCT Minister to ensure our investments are protected. If you consider the outgoing administration of Sen. Bala Mohammed, you will see a lot of litigations that has to do with our investments. We do not want such trend to continue. We even look forward to a situation whereby those issues in the court would be withdrawn and settled amicably.

“There are two major stakeholders in the FCT, the political and economic stakeholders; the indigenes fall on the political stakeholders because they control over 65 per cent of FCT population. So, it could be justice done to these two stakeholders, if the FCT ministerial slots are given to both of them with due respect to other residents.

“History has shown and events have shown that those ministers who come from areas that do not have so many stakes in the FCT do so much havoc to investments in Abuja because they do not have people who cry to them about the pains they feel. We are uneasy that if such era continues, our investments will continue to suffer and we do not want that to happen,” he added.

They should go and sleep. They should meet GEJ to give them ministers.

When the person they love did not give them the appointment, is it the person they openly detest that will give them?

If not because there is a rule against insulting these shameless people ehn... Hmmm.

See lie abeg, they have 70% of Abuja population.. Just as they claim they have 85% of Lagos.. Very soon they'll say they have 60% of Kano.

Igbos have no moral justification or right to demand anything from the incoming government because they have openly showed how much they hate him.
They can only be considered because of the kind heartedness of GMB n the 2% sensible people among them. If not, shikom will not get to them.

FCT minister my arze.

the funniest part is that the mere knowledge that this same people want to secede from Nigeria gives you and your lineage sleepless night makes you even more stupid than you have portrayed with the above comment.

Some Igbos simply wants everything politically which isn't bad but at times, I think their demands are wrongly placed.

A non-northerner can never be made the Minister of FCT, just like the same way a Northerner can never be made the Minister of Petroleum (save military regime)!

Nothing wrong in asking. But people should to work for what you want and not just form the habit of jumping into where others had labour to demand entitlement.

My verdict, try again later grin grin grin grin

We are all Nigerians but I dont think we have got to that level where key positions would be given to an individual whose state of origin isn't that region though we are gradually departing from that now.Take it or leave it, Abuja is more north than south, maybe that's a topic for another day. In cases like this, nobody should play the victim when denied such demands.Just my opinion!

since it doesn't suit you it is silly. Who has sleepless nights whenever the igbos want to secede? The igbos can go for all I care. They are the clogs in Nigeria.

The fact is that, the igbos as an ethnic group have no moral right to make any demand on the present government. But for equity n justice, igbos will not have anything.

I owe no one no apology for my stand.

Hmm

No offense to my Igbo brothers and sisters....but I think it is high time an indigene of the FCT got the job of FCT minister....with a mandate to develop the rural areas and satellite towns of the FCT over the next four years.

Either that....or create the job of City manager for the Abuja metro area(and put an Igbo in charge).....and leave the rest of the region to be run by the FCT minister.
