You can improve on her mistakes by listing some of The minister's achievements. At least mention one or two. It is not out of place to assess our public office holders as Nigerians. Thanks

I actually wrote some of my points in my last post. If the president is passionate about the bill, he needs to make the legislators "popular", force them to come out and defend how the bill will affect their constituents negatively. We need to know those that are there for themselves.

Now that you're in the opposition, I hope you take this on. If Buhari is in support of a bill and members of his party oppose it, please reveal them. Present APC to us as a party that can't come together to achieve something that'll be good for the country. We need to bring these guys out, they're too hidden for my liking.

The truth is I believe if the president is truly serious about passing something especially a bill that's non self-serving, I think he'll be able to convince at least his party members.
We don't have to wait till Buhari takes over though...just relax and see what's cooking... I owe Nigeria the responsibility of bringing out the hidden...

is there a reason were attributing the PIB to Alison? The document has been floating around long before she came into the scene and remains unsigned 5 years now since became the PM.

Lets even say the president has no powers to pass the bill, he does have the powers to enforce elements of the bill, that we placed these things into a document and used the excuse of needing both legislative arms to pass it doesnt give them an excuse.

Lets not forget Nigeria has fast been losing critical investment simply because of the uncertainty surrounding its signing.

I am yet to see Alisons achievements (which i am desperate to see simply because she is one of Nigerias most powerful women) not to say they don't exist, but to say I cant see them?

I'm sure what she was questioning was the seriousness of the president passing the bill since it was his party that was majority. I mean if a president cannot pass a bill that he's serious about through an NASS that's full of his party members, then he's rather useless.

The same man who spent Billions of Naira campaigning for the removal of subsidy via adverts, boards, pressure groups even the NA! If they were interested in passing the bill, they would have.

The Bill had its own concomitant challenges but discretizing it and discussing with other foreign stakeholders would have fixed the issues.

Dude it's politics, you scratch my back I scratch yours. He can't force them but his job is to use his power to work out deals with them. Politics is not child's play, I'm sure you know this. Understand what problem they have with the bill. Do a massive media campaign showing your support for the bill, reveal through proxies those that oppose the bill. Force them to come out and face Nigerians and answer questions about why they're not supporting the bill. Maybe we aren't just there yet I'm Nigeria but this is where we need to get to. We need till know these guys, their names and where they represent. Let them come out and tell us how passing the bill will affect where they represent negatively. Accountability is what we need and a leader can champion that.

Nobody scratched their back when they passed the child marriage bill or when they demand for their life pension. While I agree with you that the presidency ought to have used some persuasion to get the bill passed, what I don't agree is passing the blame on the president. The legislators are paid to legislate not to depend on president persuasion. The thing is that we focused so much on the presidency in this country, letting other arms and tiers go scot-free. Have the media queried the national assemble the reason why the PIB is still lying there in their chambers?

While the president has the power of persuasion, so many president has failed to persuade the legislators to pass some bills.

Moot and dumb rhetorics. PDP were the majority party in the NA plus the man at the centre belonged to the same party. He can hold meetings with the party leadership especially the one's in the NA and convince them on the need to pass the bill. David Mark and co would have come in handy. He would have arranged a meeting with the CEOs of the IOCs to try to understand their grouse with the bill and to find common ground where necessary. He should have spoken to certain thinkTanks in Nigeria to see their views on the issues and where tweaks could have been made. For e.g, I understand that no aspect of the bill pushes for Good insurance benefits for Indigenous workers in Indigenous firms. This aspect would certainly benefit Nigerians.

Also the aspect of increasing taxation may not make sense seeing that the IOCs were forced to cater to their own security, electricity and yet still give cutthroat bribes to govt officials in the name of racketeering and thus upping the cost of producing crude etc. So GEJ could have created a better working environment for them by dealing with the above before talking about increased taxes.

He had a lot of roles to play and no SaTANoid can absolve him of that duty.

You mean as Nigerians we should all just shut up while polilooters like Allison scrap our head endlessly. That reasoning i believe is lame and pathetic. Kudos to those that spare time to buttress the ineptitude of govt officials. It is what we all should strive to do to keep the ruling class on their toes. If PDP had an antagonist among them i am sure Jonathan Ebele would not have failed in all ramification so woefully.

While the president has the power of persuasion, so many president has failed to persuade the legislators to pass some bills.

The bulk stops at the president table. Just as he is the ultimate beneficiary of successes is the way he is responsible for failures.

If the president hold the PIB very dearly to his heart, he will surely find his way around it especially when his party controls both houses.

So, please stop looking for excuses.

And your response was:

Thank you! That information was correct as at time of postage. However, kudos to the government of Jonathan for following the path of wisdam to diitch away the cabals and successfully bring down the subsidy payment to N100b as reflected in the 2015 budget proposal. Meanwhile those cabals are GMB backers...

To the PIB, what you copied and pasted aren't related to PIB. It's a shame you are bringing subsidy matter into PIB. It shows you have no clue on the subject.

I get your drift and understand your point of view BUT Diezani is a PUBLIC servant. Corruption is Nigeria as well as mediocrity has been widely accepted as the norm simply because we citizens don’t ask questions neither do we review their performance.

Diezani being down (even though I doubt that’s the case) is probably due to her own lackadaisical performance and outright arrogance whilst being at the helm of affairs.

Pls let me ask u and obiagelli one question.
What are the things u expected her to do in office that she didn't do. Pls just list them. U don't need to say stories.

The fact remains that GEJ and his cohorts never held the bill so dearly. The status quo benefits them more and it was more convenient not to push the bill.
