Question #1: If indeed Sanusi is guilty (which is a possibility), why didn't the gov't do the needful -- prosecute him?

Question #2: Refer to question #1.

I just laugh at the partisanship of most of us which beclouds sense of reasoning...NNPC would be probed too and people would be indicted but be sure that such court injunctions would arise...Nothing would happen...Nobody gets punished...everybody goes home to enjoy their loot...Believe me, since this is what citizens desire, see how these guys will keep procuring the services of smart and intelligent lawyers....Nigerians are simply smart by half.....What makes you think buhari probe isn't about same reason?...lawyers will use this case as exhibit in court to prosecute their case against government...yes, they would tell same stories of witchhunt by government and court will grant their plea...let's watch how it plays out....this is democracy not military...

Crap. where lawyers not there during Objs time when we last seen serious judgement on high profile criminals? That i want criminals to be punished doesnt mean i want the innocent to suffer also. Since I was born, I have never witness the kind of hypocrisy, double standard and demonisation that is currently perpetrated by Muhammadu Buhari, the APC, Alhaji Sanusi, Osinbajo and their "good governance crusaders" against the person of President Goodluck Jonathan, Allison Madekwe, and other government officials.

Alhajis Buhari and Sanusi and APC have been going about using every platform to talk about a "missing $20b", cheered by their hypocritical followers that pride themselves as good governance crusaders. They have deliberately gone blind over the fraud of CBN under Sanusi as outlined by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria report in February 2014.

Sanusi Indicted And Removed For Fraud
According to the report (see below) Sanusi was indicted for Gross Misconduct that bothers on fraud and financial recklessness among other offence. The FRCN subsequently advised Mr President to remove Lamido Sanusi from office for further investigation and probe after the explanation of Sanusi appeared more like a tale and outrightly illogical according to FRCN. The council indicates that the explanation provided by Sanusi is “a clear display of incompetence, nonchalance, fraud, wastefulness, and abuse of due process and deliberate efforts to misrepresent facts on the part of the leadership of the CBN.”

The council advised the President to exercise the powers conferred on him by Section 11(2)(f) of the CBN Act 2007 or invoke Section 11(2)(c) of the said Act “and cause the governor and the deputy governors to cease from holding office in the CBN.”

April 2014: VP-elect Yemi Osibanjo Filed Case To Stop Sanusi Probe
Rather than Sanusi to prove his innocence in court, he filed a case in Federal High Court, Lagos to STOP FRCN and Other Security Agencies from investigating and prosecuting him through three Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, Dr. Kanyinsola Ajayi and Kola Awodien.
http://www.theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=24587

13 May 2014: Lagos Judge Tshoho Grants Sanusi Prayers
High Court Judge John Tshoho rather than uphold the constitutional powers of FRCN to investigate probe Sanusi, he granted the prayers of Lamido Sanusi and BARRED FRCN from further investigation or probing Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. In his own words...
“Prejudice is very pronounced in the language of that document. The language of the briefing note (transmitted by the FRCN to the presidency) conveys a sense of the defendant desperately goading the presidency to deal with the plaintiff,”
“The plaintiff submitting himself for investigation (by FRCN) is like the cockroach finding itself in the midst of fowls. Such a cockroach cannot be innocent,”.

http://www.tv360nigeria.com/?p=11923

Despite the fact the President Jonathan commissioned PWC to audit NNPC books to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of Sanusi's claim, Buhari, APC, Sanusi and their online agents that parade themselves as good governance and anticorruption apostles have been crying blue murder but refused to comment on the FRCN report nor the APC's VP elect role in shielding Sanusi for probe.

April 26, 2015: Buhari's Display of Hypocrisy
In his usual hypocrisy, General Buahri vowed to re-visit the $20b allegation but said NOTHING about the FRCN report. In his own word... “Imagine a situation where the former CBN governor who by God ‘s grace would later become the  Emir of Kano raised an  issue of missing billions of money, not in Naira but in Dollars, $20 billion.
“What happened, instead of investigating to know whether it was true that the money was missing or not, they simply found a reason to remove him. So these are the issues we are talking about…"

Contrary to the lies of Alhaji Buhari, Sanusi wasn't removed because he raised alarm, he was removed because he was indicted by FRCN. Jonathan also never kept mute, he commissioned PWC to audit the books. Buhari was also blind to talk about prosecuting Sanusi for the CBN fraud. Perhaps the Emir is as "incorruptible" as him(Buhari)

Lamido Sanusi and Stella Oduah
The so-called APC and their praise-singers have never for once called for the revisiting of the FRCN report, oh because it doesn't favor them. Ironically, these people were quick to call for the ouster of Stella Oduah that was indicted for "lesser" offence but demonised Goodluck Jonathan for suspending Sanusi that has lots of indictment on his neck.

Conclusion
Buhari, Sanusi and APC can continue in their hypocritical path of self-deception, but every attempt to twist history, intimidate or demonise Dr. Goodluck Ebelemi Azikiwe Jonathan shall be fully resisted. Since they see nothing wrong in the fraud of CBN under Sanusi of which they are beneficiaries, then they should see nothing wrong in whatever happens in NNPC or any Agency under Jonathan irrespective of whether or not any money is missing.

You are among the hypocritical apostle of "good governance".
Things don't work that way. You can secure a court injunction to stop further investigation and probe, it doesn't necessarily mean you're guilty. Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke secured one to prevent the house of reps from probing her. www.informationng.com/2014/06/court-stops-house-of-reps-from-probing-petroleum-minister.html
It doesn't mean she was guilty but the court stopped further investigations.

He cleared Tinubu of any wrongdoing, he allowed Amaechi and Kwankwanso to decamp to APC successfully, the list is endless.

Jonah, you see your life now? Now HAYFEECEE are coming for you and your ministers, what you should have done in the first place.

You allowed opposition to grow at their own pace(instead of controlling their growth), the opposition eventually consumed you and now it's about to PERSECUTE you and your ministers.

The FRCN lacks statutory powers to carry out any investigation! It's the same way they went ahead to levy Eko Hotel before they were taken to court. If GEJ had evidence of financial impropriety against Sanusi, why didn't he use EFCC? I'm struggling hard not to call you and the OP idiots.

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria is a federal government agency established by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria Act, No. 6, 2011. It is a federal government Parastatal under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

The FRC is responsible for, among other things, developing and publishing accounting and financial reporting standards to be observed in the preparation of financial statements of public entities in Nigeria; and for related matters.

The Council’s main objects, as defined in the FRC Act, are to:

protect investors and other stakeholders interest
give guidance on issues relating to financial reporting and corporate governance to professional, institutional and regulatory bodies in Nigeria
ensure good corporate governance practices in the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy
ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports and corporate disclosures, pursuant to the various laws and regulations currently in existence in Nigeria
harmonise activities of relevant professional and regulatory bodies as relating to corporate governance and financial reporting.
promote the highest standards among auditors and other professionals engaged in the financial reporting process.
enhance the credibility of financial reporting; and
improve the quality of accountancy and audit services, actuarial, valuation and corporate governance standards.

We should be ready to hold even our friends and family members to account if they are suspected of inappropriate conduct.

What is with courts granting injunctions against legal process?

As much as Barcanista tries to prove Brilliant, I can not help but believing he is truly dull. An articulate person will know that the case held no ground in court. It was a clear case of witch hunt.

GEJ and co. released this report to hide their stolen funds. Then Barcanista brings up an accusatory document and failed to read the defense of the report.

If Barcanista was countering Emir Sanusi's defense, it might make sense. But, to bring an alleged report, is the height of dullness and act to deceive nairalanders.

It is these kind of people that advised GEJ during his reign and campaign that made him lose his respect and election.

The people that were punished were mostly his enemies or people who meant nothing to him.
Let's see how Buhari's government intends to probe criminals like Sanusi, who'll use their loot to get the smartest lawyers on their side.

@barcanista let me start with the conclusion "if they see nothing wrong with....." This shows you're working for a paymaster, not a patriot working for the interest of Nigerians you claim.. Your post should therefore be disregarded

On the case of FRCN, it was very clear that the institution had found Sanusi guilty even before investigation, what then did they want to investigate when they had already written to the president asking him to suspend Sanusi for fraud "even without investigation"? This was what the Lagos court based its judgement on.. You already know this anyway, but this clarification is meant for the unsuspecting whom this your article is meant for

On the case of Professor Yemi Osinbajo's "professional" services to Sanusi's witch-hunt, you of all people should know that it is "ethically" wrong to blame a lawyer for offering professional services to a client who approaches them, especially when they believe Their client is being witch haunted, i believe you're simply acting out the remaining part of the hate documentary on Osinbajo which the law court stopped the PDP from releasing before the election

On the issue of the missing $20 billion dollars, we both have seen the report of PWC which stated unequivocally "This report cannot be trusted" and also "The CBN refused to open its books for audit".. What more could've been more relieving for you and I if the CBN had opened its books so we may see the extent of Sanusi's crime as being alleged by FRCN?

Conclusion: This article is malicious, intended to deceive the unsuspecting public and aimed at diverting the attention of the good people of Nigeria from what is possible to be one of the greatest frauds perpetrated by a sitting democratic government in the history of Nigeria using Nigeria's major source of livelihood at the moment. The article should therefore be ignored and disregarded as a cheap blackmail targeted at the incoming government of Buhari.

God Bless Nigeria.

You don't run to court to stop probe, you go there when the procedures for that probe are not followed. In Mallam Sanusi's case he had been declared guilty even before the process started that's why he went to court. I can't condemn Allison because unfortunately I have no proof of any offense committed by her same way you can't call an Emir a thief without proof. Mallam Sanusi cleared his innocence but you just don't believe his side of the story.
