In a typical Nigerian fashion, people are not even bothered to look at the factors used to determine the ranking! Here are the factors: Years of schooling School attendance Child Mortality Nutrition Electricity Sanitation Drinking water Flooring Cooking fuel Asset ownership Anambra lost the second spot due to years of schooling and school attendance. 2 Likes

OdenigboAroli: Apparently a wrong picture was used to highlight the story or something. But unless you are accusing Elombah of outrightly lying in its report, it would seem like your people are no different from those you accuse of distributing food stuffs to solicit votes. One thing is certain. Oil prices have falling rarely to get back to the high price it formerly was. Its effect is the low income FG gets which subsequently affects the amount states get. Osun is already feeling the heat. I hope she finds a way to settle her financial challenges on ground as any further propaganda on paper will not help in any way to salvage the shameful situation. Crises is good for any entity to be firm. The wind is blowing already let's see those that can stand. 1 Like |

Not sure why anybody is excited by these stats. Assuming these stats are even valid... SE and SW vritually have the same poverty rate if you think critically about this: Osun is only marginally better than Anambra (11.2-10.9=.03% difference). Lagos is a conglomerate of many groups and should honestly be discounted if we are comparing regional ethnic groups. Other SE states and SW states occupy the top lists in equal succession. The only exception to this is ebonyi which has a poverty rate comparable to the North. If you take the simple average of all the states' poverty rate for each region but disregard their populations (which looks like what the OP did) you would think that the SW is the least poor. This is just because of the drag that we see in Ebonyi. A weighed average of all the states (taking into account their populations) is a better representative of the poverty rate for each region going by this list. Ebonyi is the least populated state in the SE. Discount Lagos which is a multicultural city and you will see that the SW and SE actually may have similar poverty rates. 1 Like |

Some people dont now the difference between GDP and relative wealth. Oyo has the 4th largest GDP in Nigeria.... but where does it rank on that list?... definitely not 4th. |
