Kay17:

What is the difference between faith and blind faith?
blind faith is :believing in something that cannot been seen. This is not how the bible defined faith.

The Christian life is more than a life of
blind trust (faith) . It is a life of rational
examination that challenges each of us
to evaluate the evidence, form a
conclusion and then share that
conclusion with the world around us.
Biblical model of evidential faith:
CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO USE THEIR
MIND>>>>"You shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment." ( Matthew 22:37-38)

There is a place for skepticism in
the life of the Christian because it causes us to "examine the Scriptures daily".
CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO BE
CONVINCED OF WHAT THEY
BELIEVE>>>>2 Timothy 3:14
14 You, however, continue in the things
you have learned and become
CONVINCED of, knowing from whom you
have learned them.
Conviction is the result of certainty, and
certainty is the result of evidential
confidence. We are called to be
convinced by mastering the evidence
that supports what we believe. The
Christians life is not one of "wishful
thinking" or "hope in the unreasonable". It is a life of certainty, grounded in the evidence.

How are you sure its not the Devil answering?

Who is this devil you tell me about ? What do you know about him ?

And if I pray for a mountain to literally move but it doesn't, wouldnt that prove the contrary?!

why would want a mountain to move in the first place ?

prove @ bolded , dont just make assertions without proof . Can you prove the universe is self-existent ?

ok in other words , I could not summarize with every detail I wanted you to see , so I directed to the link . I have seen you do it too so this isn't new

lol ... this is funny tho... you explained how not why

Oga, the burden of proof should not lie with the atheists. YOU have bought into this god delusion, YOU rationalize it. You tell US why and how the world is the doing of a god. Don't say 'because the bible tells me'. By that logic, Moordor is a real place because the Lord of the Rings books say it is. Also, MY science books as well as all the other logical resources put together by godless heathens tell me why and how the world exists. Shouldn't your 'the bible tells me' logic apply there too? They are both books, aren't they?
Atheism is a counter-argument, oga. The rebuttal should come from your end.

Oh and you're quoting a Christian website? Really? Why was this article not published anywhere else? Why has it not made CNN news?
Wait one second while I get a Sagan or Dawkins quote.. *rolls eyes* undecided

1. I'm sorry, WHAT?? I have never seen a more apt example of a command...it even states it clearly - 'COMMANDMENT', i.e, 'You WILL do this. I do not require your input. If you do not, you will become Satan's suya.'

2. Lol. Nothing inspires conviction more effectively than a nightmarish threat. A man who has never harmed a fly will confess to more than one crime if tortured and threatened with enough intensity.

Lool. Someone's upset. Why u PMS-ing though?
1. The people you have listed are intelligent in their various fields; doesn't mean they aren't clueless AF! The two words are not mutually exclusive.
2. That said, I can also list great people who are known atheists: Epicurus, Bill Gates, Simone de Beauvoir, Richard Branson, Katherine Hepburn, Warren Buffet...
So your point was..??

God did not ask us to believe, He want us to be sure of what we believe, to be 100% sure of our faith.

As christians, Our desperate need is not for clever arguments but for a powerful encounter with the living God (1 Corinthians 4:20).And we need not more dramatic signs from heaven, but to act on what we already know. The door to spiritual understanding is not human explanation, but supernatural revelation. It swings not on mind games but on a willingness to surrender our stubborn will to One who knows better than us (John 7:17; 2 Corinthians 3:14-16;4:3-4; 1 Corinthians 2:4-16; Luke
10:21).

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you, promises the Bible (James 4:cool. Until we respond to the light we already
have, God is unlikely to squander further enlightenment upon us. With
insincere excuses we might even fool ourselves, but not the One who knows everything. We don't decide how much
evidence we need: God does.Neither do we have the final say as to when God will lose patience with us.

An excerpt from an interview with Bill Gates:

Do you believe in God?

I agree with people like Richard Dawkins that mankind felt the need for creation myths. Before we really began to understand disease and the weather and things like that, we sought false explanations for them. Now science has filled in some of the realm – not all – that religion used to fill. But the mystery and the beauty of the world is overwhelmingly amazing, and there's no scientific explanation of how it came about. To say that it was generated by random numbers, that does seem, you know, sort of an uncharitable view [laughs]. I think it makes sense to believe in God, but exactly what decision in your life you make differently because of it, I don't know.

Those aren't legs, they are hind parts whose functions are unknown.

.

That's what it says. If one believes different lifeforms such as plants, apes, fishes, birds etc gradually diversified from a common ancestor and still diversify, then without a doubt one does believe there is no limit to how a species varies.

And how do you know I didn't read my sources. This is an excuse. A bad one.

Back to my question, is there good design in living things ?

Except that's not my conclusion. My conclusion was that the chemical processes in the brain isn't sufficient to account for consciousness.

Did the failed theologian have background knowledge before theorizing about the origins of species ? You see how stupid you are.

And which experiment shows species originate from a common ancestor ? Where in your favorite article was experiment used to support the infrence to xommon descent ?

I'll respond to you here and that will be my final contribution to this post.

Your very first sentence here made me conclude that you're either just too ignorant or dishonest to have this discussion with me. You're denying evidence right before your eyes of hind limbs in whales and other cetacea. You declare that known parts are unknown. That to me is like someone looking at the picture of the globe taken from space showing the African continent and saying that the structure before them is unknown. Such a level of dishonesty or ignorance I can't abide.

So, take the time to educate yourself by taking one of the free online courses on evolution. Or just stop being dishonest. Pick the one that applies best to you.

Good luck to you.

Lol..And this very vague and obviously diplomatic response tells me what?? Ask a 'proper christian' (Gosh! what an oxymoron!) if he/she is a Christian, the answer would be a straightforward albeit self-righteous 'Yes'. But seeing as you're obviously grasping at straws out of sheer desperation, I'll just let you have that one...you seem like you could use a win. smiley
