Wow she looks so cute and her age too
cococandy:

Thank you my dear. I feel sick when anyone says a child is dressed provocatively.
That's just sad. What's the world turning into?
We try to blame it on modernization and say that's what's spoiling our kids while in truth we are becoming more and more prudish and over sexed.
I don't even know how that combination is possible but it's happening.

Before this so called modernization, we didn't see anything wrong with child nudityy.
Even we as kids didn't know there's anything called sexy until we started maturing.

So what's the real culprit here?

Didn't we all grow up in Nigeria where kids stay outdoors all day only in panties and are non the wiser about their provocative nature? Now we see sexuality where there should be none.
It frightens me.

As for kids' fashion, some thing definitely look odd on kids. And that includes weaves, make-up or anything that makes them not look like kids. Let the kids be kids dear parents.

Below is a child in bum shorts and there's nothing sexy about that. Don't give pervs excuse to justify paedophilia as they've tried to justify rape of adults on dressing.

Yes, Children are a reflection of their parents but children are not toys or decorations for show. The emphasis should be on our kids reflecting our values more than our sense of fashion. We should also take in consideration their comfort as well as the values our fashion will reinforce in them

Some parents go as far as relaxing their 1 year old child's hair without considering the impact of the chemicals to the tender scalp, some make their child's hair for hours while the poor child screams and cries in pain.

Truth is if you subject your child to pain or discomfort or expose them unnecessarily just to show your your sense of fashion - it is Child abuse.

Popular culture dictates these rules. Fortunately for us we grew up during the time of Michael Jackson, so children wanted to break dance not twerk. The highest sex.ual dance was to do a Patra-butterfly dance grin. Unfortunately today popular culture is ruled by the twerkers association. And children would absorb these element adults have put out there. If we had such gyrating, sexu.al dancing in our time, we would have done it as well especially without parental guidance. grin Today's parents have a whole lot more to do in releasing healthy individuals into society, considering the amount of information children would absorb in the current and future generation, most of us didn't even understand it until we were in our 20s. grin For you to have a headway, the entertainment industry wings need to be clipped. You can also use the way a child is dressed to gauge the mental class of the parent.

Notwithstanding, your individual/institutional ideals on decency may differ from others. For example, my church would consider the pic below indecent because they can see your knees, but I can wear this to work without anyone batting an eyelid.

And I do agree with Freecocoa on viewing certain items on 4-6yr olds as 'provocative'.

Also, A kid can also be covered up, but not wear age-appropriate clothing.

Is that what they call bum short in Nigeria? I was thinking it's the one the butt would be loosely hanging out, lol. grin
I practically grew up wearing shorts like that in the pic. So people find that provocative? Really?

Well that's what I know bum shorts to be.

On adults the butt may hang out because they have butts that can hang out but on kids, there's nothing there to hang out so that's how it looks on kids.

Anything shorter than that is basically a pantie.
Re: Sexualization Of Children: Parents Have Lost It In Parenting by Nobody: 6:20pm On Oct 08, 2015
We may want to take this campaign to clothing manufacturers
A friend shared a link on facebook where a mum wrote a petition to a departmental store on the shorts available for a toddler the inner seam was less than 6inches so invariably the shorts were more like a pant which where we get the term bum shorts. It was so bad she considered buying the shorts for boys because there was no way her daughter was wearing that.

You see designers are making mini me's for kids so they simply scale down adult clothing for kids.

Haven't you noticed that even cartoon characters clothes are shorter and tighter.

About the music we need parents to insist that DJs music selection is approved by them prior to playing. Better still get a entertainer who will coordinate line / group dancing at parties. All this dance competition is non inclusive and it makes kids want to dance to show off what they saw adults doing.

Something like this is OK as far as I'm concerned as long as she's not going to the church, mosque or office. But some people may not consider it decent.

bumshorts are bumshorts
kids don't have a special type of bumshorts......the ones we are talking about are exactly like the image i uploaded. and when we say kids, we are not necessarily talking about the 3-6 year olds.....we are talking about those ones in their early teens who wanna become adults prematurely!

Stillfire:

you would be surprised she would attempt to cover her flying bütt-base with her hands while walking. i sometimes wonder if they were forced to wear it!
