They read us. Our pleas to Igbo billionaires concerning AIIA is beginning to yield results.
Enugu Airport as the regional hub of Air Peace international operations is a good development.

Chief Onyema, the home boy of Ihiala, has done Ndigbo proud.

ENUGU—The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Emene, Enugu State, has been approved for international flight operations to and from Atlanta, United States of America; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Johannesburg, South Africa; Mubia, India and Gwuanzuo, China. This revelation was made yesterday at the closing ceremony of Enugu State maiden investment summit by the Chairman, Air Peace, Allen Onyema, who equally announced that Air Peace had been appro-ved as national carrier into the five countries by the Federal Government. Also, delegates at the investment summit stood still when Chairman, Peace Mass Transit, Dr. Samuel Onyishi, announ-ced plans to build a mega medical city in Enugu State in collaboration with foreign partners to put the state on the map of medical tourism in Africa.

I once thought about an airline making Enugu a hub, and it turns out that Air Peace will pick up the gauntlet.

More power to the management of Air Peace!

[b"]There is no other airline in West and Central Africa that flies direct to China[/b
],"

"We will use our airline to bring passengers from countries in West and Central Africa to Enugu and move them to China," Onyema said.

"We are going to deploy a cargo plane that will do nonstop flights to Enugu," Onyema said.

[ur]http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-04/15/c_135279650.htm [/url]

It is a deft move by Barrister Onyema. South East Enugu is geographically good to serve as a collecting point for West-Central African passengers enroute Asia. Passengers from especially Cameroun, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea etc.would fit in here. Just the same way passengers from the Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana and Ivory Coast transits better from the South West airport of Lagos. So I believe there was a clear strategic vision by the board of Air Peace to announce Enugu as their hub.

The same strategy has seen the Turkish Airline break even at Kano.
Kano is the Turkish Airline's sub regional hub for Sahel countries as Chad, Niger and the others.
They gather passengers from these countries at Kano and take off from their to Europe and Asia.

Good for Air Peace, Enugu and the Eastern region.

Exactly. That's why the govt should ensure that the airport is able to operate at night, and have CAT2/3 airfield lighting system, and a proper taxiway.

Instead of constructing a 28,000m* terminal, a 35,000sqm terminal would have been better suited for Mr Onyema's vision.

You're so correct. But night landing facilities are the major impediment I suppose. And I believe they are aware of the issue before the announcement. So let's see what happens.

On the other hand, the future is bright. The foreign currency policy of Buhari feared me the most for the airport, but appeared not to deter the passenger flow. The fact that Ethiopian jets still lands at Enugu says a lot about the airport's resilience.

Why not commend Buhari for this improvement and licensing of Air Peace to further link Southeast to the world. Even when night landing facilities are installed you will still find a way not to give due credit.

The news am hearing sounds good. But in this country called Nigeria, we have more talks than action. The company should start building mega facilities in Enugu close to the airport to show that the are very serious in this project. Since Enugu will be their Regional hub or whatever the call it, why not start by building a big facility that will include Maintenance, customer care section and offices which they will need. These will prove to me that they mean business.

Meanwhile let no one try to sabotage the Ethiopian Airways because of Air Peace. These guys have made a lot of sacrifices despite all odds. Now the airport is gaining more recognition and support all because of ET hard work and patience. We should allow them eat the fruit of their Labour. I decided to patronize them to support their idea of Enugu but I wasn't disappointed by this Queen Sheba. Am happy that more people are also patronizing and supporting. Enugu airport is gradually growing in traffic. I know this because I have been tracking live flights to Coal City always. But who got the New pics of the international terminal? A beg roll it and realease the gun shots.

According to the story, it looks like the Air Peace international flights will begin once the international terminal is completed and treasury for use.

It will be interesting to see what type of aircraft Air Peace will use for their Enugu-Atlanta flights, Enu-China and India flights.

The approx flight time between Enugu and Atlanta is 12hrs 40mins.

Whom ever said a terminal building must be completed before they can operate, shows they are 419.

If we strictly wanted to talk international standard terminal build, NO AIRPORT IN NIGERIA will qualify for flights outside Africa because even Lagos and Abuja airports building don't even equate to domestic terminal buildings in USA, Japan or Korea.

The RUNWAY length of at least 3KM is the only requirement, with secured runway, probably fenced off from jay walkers or animals.
So if Peace insists on a completed terminal building to begin operation, then they would never operate because the APC folks in Abuja will ensure that building is never completed. Just to punish Ndigbo.
Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by kostadinis: 2:12pm On Apr 16, 2016
The "terminal building" aspect of the news must have been through the grapevine. All the news on it so far did not say anything about terminal building as a pre-condition for commencement of operations.

So, Igbos are now second class citizens to say thank you for ordinary licensing?
What was buhari supposed to do? Stall it like the bitter , vindictive man he is ?

I am not even commending the one that made the airport international in the first place .

The international terminal building should not exceed this year. It's hindering the growth of the Airport. I bòok Enugu route via ET for a friend of mine just to support the airline. He came back and told me the terminal is taking shape. Interior works have since resume since the completion of roofing. He also said that they are at it day and night. But not a single pic from him which made me doubt some of the things he said. But I saw he was happy not to have pass thru stress of landing in Lagos first b4 coal city.

Ethiopian airline is now charging the same fare for Enugu and Lagos. I am encouraged to use the airline again from London to Enugu. I was pissed off having to pay £700+ to land in Enugu while landing in Lagos could cost me about £400+.

I will advise us to visit Air Peace Facebook page and read people's reviews and feedbacks about the airline. Maybe we may be able to understand all the noise about Air Peace. I wish the airline well though, but they have to improve their service delivery, if theyare serious about resuming international flight.

Bros I never know the price is the same now to land Lagos or Enugu. No wonder there have been consitence flight as scheduled unlike b4 when the cancel flight cause of low turn up. I guess many are now seeing that it makes sense to land in Enugu and avoid stress instead of going to Lagos.

ET did well by making the fare to be same
