Obasanjo is "hot in economics", but could not see the fundamental relevance of self-sustenance in locally refined petroleum products to an oil producing mono-economy population of over 160 million (at the time).

He issued over 20 new refinery licences with virtually none actually starting zilch.

We are paying for your failures old man, and Buhari is going to be the 'fall guy' if he does not get "hot in economics" ASAP.

"Hot in economics" ugh .

OBJ privatised the refineries, someone else with poor foresight reversed the sales

He licenced new refineries again someone else with poor foresight did not provide the right environment for this to take off

Obasanjo is just saying the truth and to be honest it should not really be a problem.

How many leaders of developed countries are really 'hot' on economics? Most of them study law, history or Politics in Uni.

The big difference is that in the developed world the leaders make sure they appoint sound people as Finance ministers, Economic advisers and Central bank governors..etc and they allow them to do their job. Buhari on the other hand actually thinks he's some kind of brilliant economist, when in fact the average SS1 economics student knows more about how to run an economy than he does. He will not listen to those who know, nor will he appoint sound brains to advise him.

I reminded of that saying, 'He who does not know, and does not know that he does not know, and does not want to know that he does not know, is a compound fool'

So what is governance all about? if the economy and international relations is not in a viable hand? You ve started, always criticise without superior idea or solutions. Meanwhile you made us understand that, if not Buhari you would let the heavens loose in 2015 general elections.

These things are shrouded in more than meets the eye.

The same reason lawmakers wanted to know why the over 20 companies, which were expected to commence construction within two years and full refining operations in four years, are yet to take off, even though their owners continue to enjoy tax breaks and import duty wavers plus crude allocations at at time.

The four national refineries gulped billions of Naira during Obasanjo's tenure for nothing . . . and there is more to that . . . well he had to sell them at the tail end of his tenure.

Excuses are failures alibi.

[b]1. Buhari PRESUMED that Saudi Arabia will give him enough loans to manage Nigeria for this 1st year. He just learnt that the Saudis are ruled from outside the Arab world.

2. Buhari PRESUMED again that Obama's endorsement will help secure loans from Uncle Sam. He doesn't know American politics.

3. Buhari thought he could dribble the calm-looking Chinese. But the Chinese know more about the Budget padding in Buhari's cabinet. Calabar-Lagos railroad wasn't even in the Budget.

4. Ok. Buhari returns to the over-maligned colonial Meisters, to the Queen, the Archbishop of Canterbury, & PM Cameron declares Buhari FANTASTICALLY CORRUPT.

5. What can France do for this Leader of Miyeti Allah Fulani Cattle herders, who've been in the news killing innocent Africans?

6. Buhari panics, & DECREES upon Nigerians, the WORST Forex regime for any country in this digital generation.

7. Obasanjo quickly abandons the Boko Haram leader. Even Jonathan didn't allow the dogs & baboons to soak in their own blood.

Confirming what we already know @ embolden grin

Obasanjo said, “For me, we have no hope if we have no future. I am an optimist as far as Nigeria is concerned. If somebody doesn’t get it all right for now, we will get somebody who will come up and fix whatever is missing. The administration before this had no clue - clueless on how to deal with Boko Haram, there is no doubt about that.

I never doubted Buhari's integrity as an individual, but as the president of Nigeria I feel he lacks the flexibility and in-depth knowledge required for the office. If Nigeria were to have a ministry strictly for fighting corruption, Buhari would be my ideal candidate, because apart hating corruption there is nothing really about him.
