Runsaway sorry I can't help you there. Im a solitary person that finds comfort in herself, so as long as I have the basic things I don't get bored easily. Even though my maternity leave started last week, iv been off work and in a foreign land for 7weeks now. Iv being watching tv series, baby shopping, reading about taking care of baby and enjoying my last days of being just a wife.

Very true. Not only STD and pregnancy, also test for hepatitis. I once got a maid for my mum and the girl was HIV positive. We didn't know at first but she kept having different things on her skin till the day she was taken for a comprehensive test that was when we found out.
Interesting part is that both the girl and the agent that brought her knew but didn't tell us.

You will not have employed her if you know hence they didn't tell u. And she just dey risk her life wey she for live healthy with antiretroviral drugs. And in offices it's usually not a right of a boss to request that now.

A teenage hh that was employed failed to mention she was pregnant and HIV positive too.

Re: the nanny/maid matter may God just help us get the right ones because adult/teenager or child they each may have their own ish too! My friend's adult nanny would lock the child indoors for hours and go out till evening na the day she and gateman quarrel the whole matter was exposed. My church member also got home and randomly checked the bin saw a diaper filled with blood and rushed baby to clinic. All sorts of tests done and money spent baby was declared ok. She enquired from nanny and nanny says oh well she uses the diapers for her period!!!! A woman randomly heard neighbour's child crying she burst into the flat and met child tied to chair. Maid said she needed to mop and nanny said she needed to sleep! So you see na make God just help person get a good one.

it's not even necessarily dependent on how nice or not nice the madam is! But i encourage everyone to be kind and fair to any dependant or domestic worker in their purview/employment.

Sometimes being idle too encourages their bad behaviour so iomoge2 for eg your girl should have been doing her own laundry. She wont wear ten clothes in one day!

Washing baby cloths... when i mentioned it to my friend a mother of 3, she laughed n fell off her chair saying its for ok cloths. .. i tried explaining why i need to wash n she still teases me with it till today.

you can get it from all body fluids including sweat, saliva etc as long as they come in contact with the body. Also sharing things like cups, towels or anything in contact with a body fluid can cause it as the virus can live outside the body for 10 days. Vaccination is key to preventing it. If you have not giving hepatitis b vaccine to your baby limit the people who have contact with her. In us they give vaccine as soon as possible after birth of baby

About the help /nanny issue, I think you should get a adult who comes in the morning and leaves in the evening. The one I have works 7am to 7pm and I have had no issues. I did all the test for her. She's been with me for over a year now. I ensure all the chores I want done are completed while she is around, so when she closes and it's just me and baby we watch tv , eat and sleep. The only day she is off is Sunday and then I just do what I can and not stress myself. Cos trust me you need the strength to keep those vigils with lo
