Hi everyone,
just got in..

1. Bring your Nigerian driver's license. You'll convert it to the Canadian one and avoid some tests.
2. If you haven't got permanent accommodation prior to arriving and don't have a friend you'll be staying with. Pay/book for several days of temporary accommodation ahead. If you find a place within those days, you should be able to get a refund for the unused days from the hotel/hostel. I paid for three days and almost became homeless cos I hadn't found somewhere permanent when it elapsed. God just provided me an alternative that night and more.
3. Most foodstuff are here. Focus on clothes and necessary electronics.

I'll update more things as I remember..

Very nice that indomie is available...Lol.

Which school are you in and what course of study?
I intend to apply to MSVU and Uni of Calgary for the September intake next year.
The main ish is i got a GPA of 3.84 in 2004 when it was still on a 4 point system. But now everything is on a 5 point scale.

Hi,

Please does anyone know what the tuition is per session at university of Ottawa?

Each time they offer admission they tell applicants that they must $37000?

Abeg, what's the tuition per session and can I squeeze the 6 semesters to 3 or 4?

Thanks for coming to my help. I have been told by a friend at Waterloo that it is possible to compress my 6 semesters into 4.

I'm kind of confused because I got admission from uottawa and I was told that I would need 37000 Canadian dollars per year for tuition, room, transportation, health etc. They have three semesters in one year. 6 in total. It would be nice if I can complete my courses in 4 or 3 semesters so that I pay for far less semesters.

Never heard of compressing academic semester in Canada or Nigeria. You can extend, carry over, take leave of absence e.t.cIf you have previous academic studies in the same field, level and it's recent, then you can transfer credits which would only reduce your work load. You may really want to ask your friend if he meant something else or just contact the school.

Per session? Ottawa gave their tuition like winter session, summer session etc. I guess a session is more like a year, right?

Now, does that mean that that 2017 winter session tuition is for the whole of the year 2017?

session (i.e academic session )= year.
2017 academic session starting in winter would mean start date of january 2017
fall would be start date in september
summer would be start date in may

Hello!

It's good to know you are studying Aerospace Engineering.

I plan to apply for PhD position in Aerospace Engineering at Toronto and/or McGill during the next admission rounds. Any hints? How are the programs over there? Please take some time to explain things from your experience so far...

Thank you.

Please am planning to apply for next year fall admission to a University in Canada for Masters Degree.
I already have a Masters degree in Nigeria in a similar course but my question is "Can I use my masters transcript only to seek admission for Masters in Canada or they only accept Bsc? Or should I send both transcript (Bsc and Masters)to enhance a better chance of admission?
Thanks

Salutations everyone. Pls I am already on Canada as an international student. I understand DAT if I want my wife and son to come over to Canada, my wife need to apply for SOWP, while my son need to apply for visitor visa.
My concern is the ways through which we can show that we have enough money for their upkeep for a year at least.

hi everyone
hello everyone. please i will like help on these issues. i already have my TRV but wont be able to make it this year until next fall. my questions are
1) do i have to enter canada within a certain period? like some countries that one has to enter the country with 6mths or 1yr of their visa being issued to you.
1) my visa and passport expires in 2018, i need to extend my study visa because my course is two years. Can i renew my passport before travelling in 2017? will i have to apply for a new visa? or can i just travel renew my passport in canada and apply for study extention
i will appreciate help in these areas please. Thanks

Though am not in canada but a friend of mine has gone through the same process, he was granted visa last year Fall and defer his admission to this year, he came to canada few days ago. This what he did:
He notified his school about his deferement, a new admission letter which carries Fall 2016 session was sent to him. Afterwards, he sent a notification mail to CIC about his predicament as well.
Do not renew your visa before you travel because if u do, you have automatically terminated your trv, renewal can only be done if you are already in canada or yet to submitted your study permit application. The VO was aware of passport expiration date before he/she stamped your passport. In the case of my friend, he came up with a logical reasons for deferement don't just tell CIC that you wanna defer your admission without congent reasons. As far as am concern you gat no problem at all just do the needful
Ciao

Ok, I just asked him now, he said CIC notification is optional that he didn't notify them and he wasn't query at the POE, just mail your school and request for Fall2017 admission letter. You are good to go
