EMMAACHILE:

Good observation there. My wife was also complaining of that too.
I didnt want to take any chances but my next trial will only take gumboro, lasota vaccines only.

The vaccination schedule on the page is same as broilers.

I am currently experimenting with organic leafs like bitter leaf to replace keproceryl, aloe vera and dry moringa leafs to replace antibiotics and also known to treat newcastle, etc.
What is keproceryl for?

This is a white cockerel (isa brown male) at 7 months (2nd picture). Took the shot this morning. The woman raised them with both foreign and local turkey.

Cockerel if fed well could reach over 3kg under 7 months and are excellent free range birds.

Noilers will be replacing cockerels soon. The only thing going for cockerels is the cheap price between 10-25 naira for doc.

Some farms are selling broilers currently at 140 naira for doc as against noilers at 120 naira.

My noilers are really exciting to watch. I will opening their world to free range on day 30.

The only problem I have with Noilers is that they are not all uniform in size...being that they are a mix of both male and female, and the females are usually smaller than the males.

That is a big disadvantage. I notice that too. I have seen someone who raised 25 white cockerels and 25 isa brown layers on free range .

That was because they are sexlinked. Meaning you could differentiate between males and females from day one.
He needed the layers for eggs and the cockerels for meat.

Just so you know, Noilers are terrible layers. They've been put to the test and they failed woefully. The hens are only good for meat production.

Lol. I will be testing that too. They will need layer mash for optimum production.

Naaah...That's not even going to change anything. The test was carried out extensively..Goodluck sha

If it so, then it's still OK. One egg in every two days is still productive enough.

Garlic and Onions keep worms away in poultry. See below details of a poultry farmer

“I mash garlic and mix it in the feeds or throw onions for the chicken to peck at least once a week.” It is a secret many farmers do not know for keeping worms at bay, she says. An element in garlic and onions makes the environment in the gut less attractive to internal parasites and boosts the birds’ immune system.

She puts three cloves of crushed garlic in 10 litres of water or mixes two cloves for every meal. She feeds her chicken twice a day.

“I also regularly add sour milk in their feeds to ward off diarrhoea. It also helps when chicken are suffering from diarrhoea even when you are treating them with conventional drugs,” she says.

“I put just enough to cause lumps in the feed, but do not drench the feeds in it.”

These strategies have helped Beatrice reduce the incidence of diseases in her flock by almost 90 per cent.

“When you do this, you build the immune system of the birds and even though one bird can get sick, the disease is unlikely to spread to the rest as long as it is isolated as soon as you suspect it is ill.

“The best cure of all is always prevention,” she concludes.
