Day 28
Pictures of 51 noilers at 27 days

I have to put a container on top of the water to stop the birds from resting on the water container. I also hang thefood container from the ground.

Two days to free range for the birds.

I also trying to raise space to rear foreign turkey. expected to raise for 5/6 months.

This is day 31

I released my noilers out on free range on day 28
I notice the free range only made them eat less and I may decide to go back to intensive method.
For now, I release them in the mornings and evenings only and keep them in the building in the afternoons to ensure they eat their food well.

I bought hybrid grower mash feed and they adopted it without wasting them. I have been feeding them on vitalfeed.

I also give them some natural grains like millet, guinea corn and chaffed maize, and all was eaten up.

I took weight of eight of them today on day 31and the average weight is 500g with some as heavy as 650g and others as small as 350g.
The disparity in weight is too wide with about 10 looking like 400g or less and the remaining 41 should be 460g and above

Goodmorning, I noticed one of my broilers have been limping. I thought it was dislocation only to find out that it's a swollen foot this morning. Please how do I treat this?

It's called bumblefoot disease. What are the symptoms? Check the underneath of the broiler to see whether it's like what's in the attached picture

Can I try free rage with pullets? Anytime I open their door to give them feed they try to come out, sometimes, they come out and start looking for feed only for me to drive them back inside their pen.
Can I mix millet, guinea corn and give to them? Currently using top-feed but, converting to vital feed.

Don't know if there will be any side infect in doing so especially when they start laying.

Pullets can be raised free range especially the Tetra harco black pullets and they lay eggs without much need for specialised feed. The isa brown is a better pullet but if fed specialised feed.

How many do you have? I plan on raising some pullets with isa brown cockerels (white cockerels) on free range too when I am done with the noilers.

I noticed feather loss with four or five of my noilers. I think it's down to change of feed or feed type.
I have two options to make
Buy hybrid finisher/broiler starter for higher crude protein or return to vitalfeed broiler starter.

Sorry for your loss. I am always worried about that too. The number is too large for free range. What colour are there? Layers can be grown on home made feed comprising soybeans, maize, wheat and other mix.

Brown colour.
I will try the home-made feed, it will go together with the already-made.

I just hope it won't affect them since they are for egg production.

Best bet is to go for layer concentrate and mix with maize if they have started laying. If they are below 17 weeks, you can go for grower concentrate and mix with maize.

First 14 days= vitalfeed broiler starter feed
14-21 days= vitalfeed chicken mash
22-29 days=vitalfeed grower
29- =hybrid grower mash

I feed them all the time.

I advise you don't use grower. Some of us supplement with other nutrients like soybeans and co

Best bet for noilers will be
0-30 days= broiler starter
31days-84 days =broiler finisher

I used rice ban or known as the back of rice. I got them from a local rice mill.
I also use saw dust from a carpentry shop. I change between 4 to 5 days interval.

I used electric bulbs and a kerosene lantern.

I used newspaper for the first week (7 days). Now they are on floor, I don't know if it will affect them in future. I am afraid to use either rice ban or saw dust for them not to eat it because this will likely affect their health.

Putting them direct on the floor is worse off. The chicks will not eat saw dust or rice barn.
