I introduced sharp sand today to replace saw dust. Saw dust is not too good in use for poultry bedding. Wood chippings very scarce in Lokoja. Sharp sand can be reused again and again. See below photos

Day 46 Feed update First 14 days= 1 vitalfeed broiler starter feed 14-21 days= 1 vitalfeed chicken mash 22-29 days= 1 vitalfeed grower 29-39 =1 hybrid grower mash 40-46= 1 Rico Gado Broiler Finisher Day 46- = 3/4 Rico Gado Broiler Superstarter So far, five bags consumed by the noilers. I switched to Rico Gado because it is the only medicated feed in Nigeria. I had to buy 3/4 bag Broiler superstarter because Rico Gado Broiler finisher was not available in Lokoja today. I may have to dilute it with 2kg of millet or maize tomorrow since the products crude protein is well over what the noilers need. |

Day 47: For the first time, i met clean water in the morning in the water drinker. Sand is heavier than rice husk or saw dust or wood chippings. At least, i can fill the drinker once a day now. I will be getting a sieve to seperate the poultry droppings from the sand. Sand is normally used for about 6 months before it is washed and disinfected with a germicide like Izal before it can be reused again. I will see how true this is. For second day running now, food and water are not contaminated with the floor beddings unlike when i was using saw dust/rice husk/wood chippings. |

I think some of these noilers will be ready from the eleventh week. I will weight the biggest ones tomorrow and see. Some look almost mature already. The only problem I have with them is feeding. I feed all the time and I am thinking it may not be economical. The easiest way to know is weigh all of them and calculate the fcr. (feed conversion ratio) |

Some of them just look too small at 7 weeks. I have about 8 out of 49 looking that way |

Re: My Noiler Farm Experience (hybrid Of Broiler + Cockerel) by Nobody: 8:54am On Dec 19, 2016 |
Day 52: I dewormed on day 47 and 48 and the poo turned whitish with threadlike signs in it. That is a sign of roundworms. Those with noilers try and deworm your chicks with drugs or use onions or garlic by feeding them directly by chopping it up in pieces or putting it in their water. Worms will not allow them to grow especially free range birds that are more exposed to it. |

EMMAACHILE:Call this number 08035860250 (Mr Philip). He is the distributor for Rico Gado Feeds, Kogi State. Ask him whether he knows any dealer around Ogun/Lagos or he should help you ask from the factory in Yola. |

Rico Gado Feed prices has increased. In the long run, it may only be broilers that may be economical to keep since they attain maturity under 60 days. My opinion on the cost of raising noilers vs broilers in the weeks ahead on this thread. What are the advantages/disadvantages? 3 Likes 1 Share |
