Lol....that document is complete crap.

How can the akarigbo and Ijebu igbo be senior to Ijebu ode? Yet the grave stones of the founders are found in Ijebu ode?

Orimolusi was even a baale up to the nineteen century,it was Odutola who mediated with the awujale at the time to elevate Orimolusi to an Oba. This is so recent in history, I wonder what sort of mischeif this is suppose to achieve? Even the Remos know better except they want to play mischief too. The beauty of this is that all of this happened while the British were still here and we trust how they very much documented everything.

A document that can't be truthful of something as little as that will be truthful on the history of Ijebu?.

Ijebu igbo is senior and yet the throne has be vacant for over twenty years? It's unfortunate that out of the benevolence and unity the Awujales hoped to achieve by granting them crowns, they repay by political insurbodination and treachery by outside elements.

Like I said previously, it will be to their own detriments.Nobody derides his source and survive.

One of the largest man made structure sits at Eredo in Ijebu Ode and yet we got our ancestry from Oduduwa when that very structure further proves our own version of the history.

Uncle, some of us are actual Historians who have read quite extensively and are involved in traditional cultural and religious circles to get information. Bini was struggling in the Eastern flank of Yoruba land. Did Bini conquer any of her felow edoid group in any known battle is the question?

In your heart of hearts, you think Bini would have bested the occupants of Eko at that point? You seriously think Bini that is far away and requires sailing through the seas can best the people who are familiar with the lands and its interiors and can draw support from Ijebu, Egba and Ibadan? Uncle, there were skirmishes but only on the pepper farm, did it spread beyond, not said in any record of the history. This connotes that, Bini itself was wise enough not to stretch its own with encoraching beyond where it got on a platter.

Oyo empire was over run, Ibadan stopped and crushed the Jihadists up to Offa for life - read, please.

The 'un-homogeneity' of Yoruba being bandied around makes no sense. It is common knowledge that Yoruba were one with Ife as a rallying point. The intra-tribal fights did not start until Owu wanted to disrupt the system then the system collapsed when Oyo collapsed - the fight was not for lack of homogeneity but rather, for balance of power. Oyo's yolk was thrown off, everyone inhaled fresh air of independence and wanted to give their lives to prevent any other power rising to take away their freedom - Ibadan in this case.

The theory of lack of homogeneity is a very ignorant one bandied around mostly by Northerners to tear into the Yoruba fabric.

Loool. Anyone who reads this would think Bini was a serious army cheesy. A ragtag group that could not even expand its hegemony by conquering other edoid groups.

Make things up to be outraged about? No fam, we are having a harmless banter that I am open minded to as I want to learn something fresh & new, something to collapse all the theories Yoruba history has been built on over the years. Something beyond the conjectures and coinages from Bini camp.

From beginning to the end? Even where it dissected Ijebu oriki and stuff?

How can the akarigbo and Ijebu igbo be senior to Ijebu ode? Yet the grave stones of the founders are found in Ijebu ode?

Do these gravestones have connection with Ijebu ode in anyway?

Orimolusi was even a baale up to the nineteen century,it was Odutola who mediated with the awujale at the time to elevate Orimolusi to an Oba. This is so recent in history, I wonder what sort of mischeif this is suppose to achieve? Even the Remos know better except they want to play mischief too. The beauty of this is that all of this happened while the British were still here and we trust how they very much documented everything.

I'm not sure you are correct about Orimolusibbeing a Baale. Was Orimolusi as a congnomen existing side by side with Baale? You cannot be a Baale & have an office tag simultaneously. A Baale is usually under someone with no kings or baale under him. Orimolusi seemed to have kings of other towns under him, a right not accorded any Baale?

A document that can't be truthful of something as little as that will be truthful on the history of Ijebu?

Be open minded, somethings gotta be at least correct in it sir.

Ijebu igbo is senior and yet the throne has be vacant for over twenty years? It's unfortunate that out of the benevolence and unity the Awujales hoped to achieve by granting them crowns, they repay by political insurbodination and treachery by outside elements.

Wasn't the founder of Ijebu Igbo supposed to be King in Odo-Oluiwa (not Ijebu Ode) but was cheated by his younger brother the Ijebu Ode king? The interregnum in the throne has no effect on seniority, it is just family politics. So, Awujale granted crown to his big brother, the Orimolusi?

Like I said previously, it will be to their own detriments.Nobody derides his source and survive.

One of the largest man made structure sits at Eredo in Ijebu Ode and yet we got our ancestry from Oduduwa when that very structure further proves our own version of the history.

Sungbo Eredo appears not to have connection to Ijebu Ode as no reasonable history or explanation of it has been given b my Ijebu Ode people vis a vis their own ancestral existence. The best we have gotten is the Bilikisu Queen of Sheba nonsense being bandied around. The site was dated 800-1000 C. E., excavated findings in Ife put Ife occupation at 350 B.C.E.

Do findings from this place connect the place to Ijebu?

Findings from Ife connect Ife to the spot it presently is & it is why Fobrenius argued it is the lost Atlantis that resurfaced.

If findings from Eredo connects Ijebu Ode to it in anyway other than Jadakiss Bilikis then please share if not then Ijebu Ode settlers ony stumbled on a lost civilization unconnected to them.

The gravestones do, as they happen to be how the name came to be. "Ajebu"

There was nothing like orimolusi prior to the elevation which happened so recently. And Ijebu has four ruling families and the family the orimolusi prince came from is the Afidipotemole family. Of all the four ruling families, Fusengbuwa is the largest and has had the most number of Awujale over 50%. Like you rightly said,it's family politics, the story that surrounds that is different from being cheated that is being bandied around. But for honor sake,we let that lie. It is rather ironic that the man who elevated the baale of Ijebu igbo to Oba becoming Orimolusi is Oba Gbelegbuwa 11, an offshoot of the Fusengbuwa ruling family. That was the king before the incumbent and now mischeif makers are talking of seniority? Haba! Even the Dagburewe of Idowa is far more senior to Orimolusi and yet Oba Jadiara who became king in Idowa before becoming King in Ijebu Ode. This was even years ago before Ijebu Igbo was formed or a place called shagamu was in existence. Why is it that Ijebu domains like Lenuwa of Odo Lemu, Dagburewe,Ebumawe who are far much older have not contested the paramountcy of the Awujale? Even the first king to wear a beaded crown in Ijebu aside from Awujale has never for once contested it's paramountcy, Ijebu Isiwo. Truth will always prevail sha.

I still cannot fathom why outsides or non-indigenes will claim to know more about the Ijebus history than their indigenes. The so called unity of southwest come Yoruba and oneness may prove impossible to achieve if we continue to tow this part. God help us.

Interesting.

Now, does Ijebu have peculiar deities imported from the Waddai that can still be found in Waddai that separates them from Yoruba?

Is the the social/family arrangement the same as that of other Yoruba?

Hoe about the monarchical arrangement?

See this:

g. The Osugbo cult, important as it is in Ijebu socio-political life, has a lot to reveal in the Ife origin link in Ijebu history. The Osugbo greet one another as follows:

Osugbo ree! Agbalagba Ufe Ogbo Ato o !
Oh! That is you Osugbo! The elderly one of Ufe Long may you live!

I can go on and on sir.

Keep in mind Ogboni started in Ife but the entire system & how it operates was lifted to Ijebu.

While you answer this question, keep in mind Ijebu was a secluded state that didn't encourage inter-mixing of othee sub-groups with them.

How then, did a group from Waddai not run its system as it was in Waddai? Itsekiri left Ijebu but still operate with everything they took from Ijebu, the Ogu/Egun have strong inter-group relations with Yoruba yet they retain their own system very much. The same holds for the Tapa/Nupe group in Ilorin/Kwara.

Non-Ijebu are only curious. We love Ijebu (for me, the ladies) and want to learn their history properly. E ma bini that we are interested in y'all.

Also, you left out my question:

I think on most of the questions you asked specially concerning cult practises and all that, indigenes who are well rounded in those practises are in best position to answer those questions.

Same goes for the Eredo. There are other things am yet to get answers to but in due time I will find out.

But until facts prove otherwise, I maintain the position of the Awujale.
But going by the Ijebu history,it would mean the Ijebus must have brought those cult to their present place before Ife and could have influence them.

Keep in mind Ife had been occupied since 350 BC & all the deities and followers (are not cults) emanated from & their chants are centered around ife with compounds, relics & offsprings all existent in Ife till today.

350BC is far back and 800-100 of Eredo is more recent, there's no way Ijebu could have come from Waddai & influenced Ife - was Ijebu not cut off from other Yoruba towns.

Besides, are Obatala, Ogun, Esu, Yeemo, Obarese, Oluorogbo, Orisakire, Gbonkaa, Obameri etc in Waddai?

Your theory ehn, na a bit of a stretch o cheesy

Exactly,it is yet a fact. In reality I will be less concerned about this stuffs tho. There are two types of peeps, there are those who talk about history and there are those who made history.

What matters now is in the present and the legacy left today for tomorrow.

Ife occupied 350 BC? Wowza!

Mr. Don't distort history please. I am Yoruba and not from IJEBU but love knowing Yoruba historical settlement wherever Ori direct their footsteps. The people who are traditionally inclined to the norm and practices of ancient Yoruba will definitely not agree with you nor present AWUJALE. If AWUJALE could single-handedly stop the use of IRUKERE from covering his mouth, so that people naturally won't see his face and mouth as been done in ancient Yoruba land because of his purported modernization then he could easily try to separate part of IJEBU from being UNDER ILE IFE suzerainty , yet IJEBUs men fought and died alongside every other Yoruba groups just to PREVENT IBADAN that had no proper nor recognised monarchial system to bully other kingdoms and subdued them. In fact, I thank God for that war to had taken place because, the AWUJALE,could properly had used it as an escape root to destroy Yoruba history as false. It is so disheartening for me to see us in disarray of this manner. ILE IFE owns OSUGBO,OGBONI,IFA etc that all people who left the place having these cults wherever the ancient YORUBA settled down. The word “IJEBU" , whose language is it derived from?. Though, there is iota of truth that Yoruba migrated to this part of West Africa but they were all of ONE STOCK. However, if AWUJALE, had posited that YORUBA was not the NAME we were called before, then, it would have made sense.

From my patrilineal lineage, I AM PRINCE, IN FACT, MY GREAT GRAND FATHER, a Prince that became a King FOUGHT AGAINST IBADAN and I am also a PRINCE FROM MY MATRILINEAL LINEAGE. This is my own reason I can go extra mile to do more research just to FINDING out ancient YORUBA HISTORY even beyond NIGERIA. I AM STILL WAITING FOR YOU PEOPLE TO CLAIM ORUNMIELA, SHANGO, OBATALA, OGUN EVEN MAJEK FASHEK AS FROM OGODDOMIGO.....VERY FUNNY ELEMENTS AMONG EDO PEOPLE. ANYWAY, BINI INDIGENES THAT WORSHIP IFA AND OGUN IN THEIR DIFFERENT SHRINE WILL NEVER SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR UNREALISTIC IDEOLOGY. AND IF BINI PEEPS NOW DECIDE TO FOLLOW THIS SAME PATH, IN FACT IT WILL BE GOOD FOR US YORUBA PEOPLE TO LIVE IN PEACE AND NOT IN CONFLICT WITH A KINGDOM THAT BEGAN HUNDREDS OF YEARS AFTER GREAT ILE IFE HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED ...THE HOME OF YORUBA ANCESTORS....

Benin's do not worship Obatala. Ogun and Olokun are Benin gods. Oba Ewuare 1 was known as Prince Ogun before he was crowned and he was a great warrior. It will help you a lot if you do a proper research on Ife, how could Ife be 100 Yrs old before benin and Oduduwa sent one of his son's (Oromiyan) to Benin? SMH!!!
The Benin's will never claim Yoruba cos the word Yoruba is derogatory. Do a proper research on how the word Ya'riba came into existence.
The very day Awolowo disrespected Oba Akenzua that was the day he signed his death warrant and later ended up committing suicide. The Benin's wanted to unite with the yoruba's but you guys destroyed that pact by insisting on speaking yoruba in western region council of Oba's. Oba of Benin walked out and since then the western region ended up in one crises or the other. The thief and tribalistic awolowo built cocoa house at Ibadan when the major producers of cocoa were Edo and former Ondo axis. He built T.V stations with our timber and palm oil from delta and you think the benin's will ever forgive you guys?

Yoruba's will remain our son and you better deal with it.

I can see another EDO chap looking for attention as well. So OGUN has become your king EWUARE? You are very new in the world of history study. I guess you should then go IRE-EKITI and tell them to shift the abode of OGUN-ONIRE shrine to EDO state....My Question is, where do YORUBA relocate OGUNShrine to in EDO or BINI?,Secondly, how big was BINI EMPIRE in the purported lies being spread around? The Copies of Portuguese account is still in the archives of world libraries on their account when they came in contact with Bini. And it specifically stated that the Father of BINI is in the East of Bini, while the Oba Bini at that time in 14th century pointed to the direction of ILE IFE. In fact, it will b a great thing for Bini to stay on her own. After all, Netherlands pulled out of Germany and both are doing well today despite Germany being the largest economy in the whole of Europe. Truth is bitter but swallow it.

[[s]quote author=Olu317 post=53663898]Mr.

BINI PEOPLE trying to distort history With their NONSENSICAL CLAIM with no TRUTH in it.

God bless you on your effort to do more finding on YORUBA history....[/s]
