Those are not claims, those are verifiable fact. Am really impress with the Nigerian that paticipated in this tread they give fact that are irreprehensible and yet verifiable. While you guy are just given dumb claim imagine saying nairobi is more expensive than lagos grin
Both countries are laggards. When I said so last year, kenyans in the house disagreed vehemently.I compared Nigeria and kenya to Latvia and both were found wanting.Nigeria is not doing well but kenya is also faltering like a sensible kenyan pointed out above my post. But since last year we've all being posting pictures of our nice hoods and hiding the shitty parts which all of black Africa har in abundance.Imagine this latest world bank report and see how both countries fare. You spoke about facts, rafiki, and here is another fact. http://m.guardian.ng/news/75m-nigerians-lack-access-to-electricity-says-world-bank-report/

If u think nigeria is a poo then kenya is a poo square times poo square grin

You got my point.73% for kenya and 41% for nigeria.I think the problem is the major neglect of rural areas in Africa.A larger percentage of kenya is rural than urban. The report shows kenya is seriously affected.Meanwhile power supply has started improving across Nigeria though it remains a challenge.

That is outdated data. Here is fresh factual data.

60℅ of Kenyans have access to power. And btw there are never blackouts here. Maybe about a maximum of 5 blackouts a year that last maybe 30mins or less. In fact if you live in the major cities this is even less. The current regime has done a lot in relation to developing power access. In fact these days you can walk into a mud hut in some very remote villages and be shocked they have power

Kenya is connecting 1m people a year to the national grid. That has to be applauded.

http://www.nation.co.ke/oped/Opinion/kenya-electricity-access-rate-now-at-a-historic-sixty-per-cent-/440808-3307998-p0whfa/index.html

Arguably the fastest connection rate in the region, we have since connected an additional 2.6 million households, raising our customer base from 2,261,064 in March, 2013 to 4,890,373 in June, 2016, representing a growth of 116 per cent. This has raised the country’s electricity access rate from 27 per cent three years ago to 60 per cent by the end of June this year.

According to Kenya Power, the company that does 80%of the electrification in Kenya(the other being the Rural Electrification Authority) 55% of Kenyans had access to power as of June 2016.
Please note, no source can be more accurate than the very people who are distributing the power to Kenyans and are also doing most of the connections to Kenyans as well.

Scroll down to milestones in Kenya's electricity sector.
The World Bank last surveyed Kenya's electricity sector in 2012, before the current electricity access programs like the Last Mile Program(which allows people to have electricity at $150 if they are 500 metres from a pole), the School Electrification Program(which brings power to all Kenyan Schools and households next to the school can easily access the power) and the AFDB program(Providing electricity access in rural kenya for just $30 connection fee) which have pushed electricity access past the 50% mark in early 2016.

what are Kenyans emphasising really? Kenyan with low productivity and less industrialisation. What is the essence of having being electrified 60% without relative impact on wealth creation?. Kenya is 3/4 on the downward trend compared to Nigeria. Do you know how much a foreign communication network, using MTN as a case study generate annually in Nigeria? Despite the herculean challenges.

MTN NIGERIA WAS FINED HEAVILY YET THEY KNEW THEY HAVE A LOT TO LOOSE

Africa’s largest mobile operator has been fined $3.9 billion in Nigeria for failing to disconnect users of unregistered SIM cards.
MTN, which makes about 37 percent of its revenue from Nigeria, has filed a court challenge over the fine, which equates to more than twice its annual average capital spending over the pastDespite this fine, they were jittery that they had to settle out of court with the communication regulatory authority

South African telecommunications giant, MTN Group released its full year to December 2012 Financial Statement, which shows revenue of R135.1 billion ($14.67 billion) up from R121.8 billion ($13.15 billion) a year earlier.
As expected, a huge chunk (29 percent) of the company’s revenue came from MTN’s Nigerian unit which raked in about 774 billion naira ($4.2 billion). This represents an 11 percent increase over the same period in Rand terms.
In terms of EBITDA margin (Earnings before tax depreciation and amortization), the company made a total R58.6 billion ($6.36 billion) or about 43 percent of revenues. Though, slightly lower than the 44 percent margin obtained a year earlier, the figure is rather impressive considering the global economic Zeitgeist.

The bitter truth is that Nigeria far ahead of Kenya by far and large.

so south africans own your mobile telecoms ,he he grin grin,,

cant compare that to kenyan owned safaricom the founder and pioneer of mobile money in the world
kenya population is a quarter of nigeria
last year they made $1.8 billion dollars in revenues, with $366 million dollars in profits after tax

compare it to something Nigerians actually own ,all those MTN profits going back to South Africa son.

bitter truth my ass,

we keep telling you dont let huge population delude you that you are something to the point of disrespect , out here the rest of the world can see right through your dumb egos.

ok ok fine fine! You may be right. What I just don't understand is this; there's so much cyber war amongst African countries! Nigeria against South Africa, south Africa against zambia. Its absurd! I'm sick of it. And mind you stop kissing the ass is an insult.
