And the point is, IT SHOULD. Kenya has a GDP that isn't up to that of Lagos, not to mention Nigeria that has 8 or 9 times the GDP of Kenya. No matter the effort these other countries are making, our size and available resources demand that we lead them when it comes to infrastructure and funding of projects.

We DO lead them. Kenya has only one or two serious airports, Nairobi and Mombasa.

KENYA AIRPORTS:

Mombasa Airport

Nairobi Airport

Nigeria has TOO MANY TO COUNT: Here's just a few:

Lagos Airport

Abuja Airport

Kano Airport

Bauchi Airport

Owerri Airport

Warri Airport

Calabar Airport

Ilorin Airport

Asaba Airport

Enugu Airport

MMA 2 Lagos

Dutse Airport

Kaduna Airport

Benin Airport

Yola Airport

THESE ARE JUST A FEW AIRPORTS IN NIGERIA. I MAKE BOLD TO SAY THAT NO NATION IN AFRICA OUTSIDE SOUTH AFRICA, EVEN REMOTELY COMPARES WITH NIGERIA IN TERMS OF INFRASTRUCTURE, INCLUDING AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE.

Some people on this forum get so pained when they hear that other African countries are making progress. Trying to talk bad or degrading a country doesn't negate the fact that it has made progress. For example, that railway will make traveling easy and will promote tourism. Those are direct benefits which will contribute to economic growth.

No Nigerian here seem pained by Kenya's progress. It isn’t in Nigeria peoples' nature to wish other Nations in Africa ill. Actually, so many Nigerians elevate other African nations (undeservedly) above Nigeria. Some Nigerians rightly take issue when, just for political millage, the progress made by other African nations is used as weapon to disparage Nigeria.

In many respects, if anything, the reverse of what you stated is the case. Many Africans from other nations seem the ones pained by Nigeria’s progress, real or imagined, and yet act the wronged.

it just like people are in disbelief that Nigeria remains the African nation to beat in terms of anything people should give Nigeria credit for its own developments and progress

what credit? for the good roads or stable power supply? as hard as it is to believe, Nigeria is FIAKED*!! and we are not even ashamed of it.

Roads to and fro our ports/borders are in very very bad/ poor state. Travel more around the world to see.

Most countries ''around the world'' are developing nations like Nigeria. Most countries ''around the world'' are not like the US, UK, Germany, and Japan.

Most countries ''around the world'' are in the mould of places like Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Ecuador, Mali, Azerbajian, Nepal, Peru, Vietnam, Thailand, Sierra Leone, Haiti, Surinam, Mexico, Zambia, Jamaica, Yemen, Eritrea, Rwanda, Cuba, Trinidad, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Malawi, Cambodia, Mozambique, Chad, Bangladesh, Burundi, DR Congo, Uganda, Afghanistan, Madagascar, and India, among others. In these countries, which make up the world's majority, there are myriad development issues from power shortage to bad roads. That is the NORM in the world.

The EXCEPTIONS are those western countries most of you travel to when you claim to be going ''around the world'' - UK, US, Germany, Holland, France, UAE (Dubai). Less than 25% of the world's population live in those developed countries. Remember that next time you talk of going ''around the world'' and seeing El Dorado everywhere.

U seem not to live in this reality. We africans are not pained by your progress but atitude. Nigerians go to africans countries and act like they own everything. Just like white people do. You dont respect africans. U put yourselves above us like the arabs and whites. No wonder you guys bleach to much.
Anyways i admit, if nigeria were developed. With its 200million ppl. We'd all be probably ahead. Thank God that wont be the case in 20yrs.

It's true that many Nigerians on this forum do appreciate the progress made by other countries. Kudos to them!

However, there is a certain breed that cannot let a thread flow well. They will talk badly to each other. Attach photos of buildings, slums, infrastructure, etc as proof.

They will say certain countries are progressing because of the presence of whites or Indians. It's like they don't believe anything good can come out of focussed and development oriented African leaders. Some of those heated exchanges would make you think it's a competition worth a million dollars.

I think it's good to a appreciate a country where it does well. I personally appreciate Nigerian literature, music and traditional attire. You've got great writers and I do look forward to reading great novels/stories from them.

Where and where did he go in Cameroun? We all know how you dummies visit the capitals of these small countries, where the govt spends 80% of its revenue on the main city while the rest of the country is neglected, and then assume the comforts of the capital are replicated throughout the country. And if, despite all you've read here, you still think the Nigerian railway network is not being implemented, it just shows you are an illiterate dunce unworthy of further attention.

Because you are shallow-minded and immature, so you prefer to see flashy train stations than to have a 10,000km high speed rail network under construction. The first is glamorous, the second not so much, since there are no flashy pictures to ''show''.

The latter would benefit the country more than the former. That's what's important. It might take years longer to build than a couple of flashy train stations, but we can wait.

In summary Nigeria is a big for nothing british estate.Anyone defending her pace of development is economical with the truth and is shameless.
Don't think that other countries are waiting for us.
I am a Nigerian but I would rather prefer Nairobi and Mombasa to that slum called Lagos and the cosmetic capital Abuja.

Swerrychick even when you travel you would appreciate Nigeria, it is a third world country fine, but you guys are just too negative. If you are a Biafran then you can be that negative, l understand. But as a Nigerian, why should you only focus on the negative of Nigeria and ignore the little steps towards progress she's making, while you do the reverse for other countries.
Today some are even praising Cameroon, but weeks ago l read an article from a Cameroonian, advicing Biya to copy Nigeria and learn from the development he sees in Abuja. This was at a time Biya was to pay a visit to Buhari last year. He listed so many things for Biya to learn. I'll post the article.

Do you ignorant dolts understand there is a $25 billion high speed national rail network CURRENTLY under construction in Nigeria? It will outclass anything Kenya is currently doing, while connecting every state in Nigeria by high speed rail. This is why you and your ilk need to study and research before commenting.

I think you missing the point here. There things nigerians can learn from kenya like milk production and distribution. Your argument doesnt answer the really question which is: what small steps are you talking about?

After reading a lot of the comments here, I've come to the conclusion there isn't that much difference in the level of development between African countries. It's the same with other continents. U.K. , spain , France , Sweden and Germany basically at the same level. Brazil, Argentina and Chile too are at par when it comes to infrastructure.
What African countries need right now is cooperation not competition.
