I think that at a subliminal level, we all crave an intimate relationship, a connection of sorts with someone.
This does not necessarily have to be marriage. I think even the ones who claim to be desirous of freedom still long for this connection.
It is probably the reason why they often turn champions of anti-marriage discourse.
It is a way of masking their longing. They are in denial. A sad way to live.

I don't know why we Africans see marriage as a must or an achievement? They feel that a lady or a man who is not interested in marriage is not responsible or shying away from responsibilities. They believe that marriage makes you responsible and complete.

The whites don't share this idea. The ideology they believe in about life is happiness. Just do the things that would make you happy and live longer life.

The problem is that many women are arrogant, self centred and proud. As such they cannot imagine submitting to a man or sharing life decisions with a man. That is why they refer to the so called 'freedom'
Many are scared of responsibility.
It also boils down to how u were brought up. If your home and childhood was a sweet one and ur parents enjoyed their marriage u will also like to make ur own family when u grow up. Fact is a lot of persons came from disfunctional homes and their thoughts have become warped around their dad physically abusing their mom and hence they begin to resent d thought of ever beingg in such a situation. By the way, if you must stay single, at least ensure you have good money, I mean real good money because by the time you clock 45, all men will avoid even your unclothedness like a plaque. At that stage, only money can help you keep some sugar boys and also preserve your look. You know semen from plenty men have a way of disfiguring ones outlook. Honestly i don't really know the reason.....despite the rate of divorce issue that we see and hear daily about, but they still insist on not appreciating the decision of single girls/mom. In my own case i was in a conversation with my mum were i talked about having the fear of getting married (Gamophobia) that i just wished God bless me financial,so i can have my kids (single mother) and give them the best life that they deserved without being married, but she object by saying that her only daughter will not live such a life.

the problem with Africans is that we tend to see things only in one direction,despite d high rate of divorce we still force people to marry, despite the high rate of unemployment we still dey force people to school without checking if they have a talent or any other plans. in 2003,a football scout wanted to take me to Italy so I can play professional football cos I Sabi play ball small but my dad said no that d only thing is to go to school n get a job then start life. after so much book n after graduating, am still managing a job which I don't even like.right now I don already tell Dem not to even talk about marriage cos I don't subscribe to it.
