N-Power Volunteer Network
NpowerNG begins deduction in stipends for tablet devices

(Last Updated On: April 12, 2018)

N-power has officially started deducting money from volunteers’ monthly salary for the tablet devices.
The deduction will only affect those who selected Techno pad and Speedstar.
This means that volunteers under this category received N29,459 for the month of March.
The deduction wasn’t by your bank, as we don’t think any bank would cut such amount from your account balance.
“I was surprised when I received incomplete March stipend. Initially, I thought the deduction is from my bank,” a disturbed volunteer told us Tuesday.
Today, the volunteer who wants to remain anonymous forwarded to our team the explanatory message he received from N-power Team.
“Dear Volunteer, Kindly recall you selected a Tecno pad device with your commitment to incur N135.2 over 20 months. The deductions have now begun hence N541 will be deducted for over 5 months between March 2018 – July 2018”
It would be recalled that it was clearly explained during device selection process in 2017 that some tablet devices were not completely free.
However, the tablet devices were financially supported by Bank of Industry, and highly subsidised by the federal government.
Today,NpowerNG provided more insights into the deductions entitled, “Deduction in Stipends”
The team writes:
“A few beneficiaries will have noticed a reduction in their stipends.
“You will recall that the Federal Government entered into a 20-month Asset Finance Agreement with the Bank of Industry for the N-Power devices.
“Beneficiaries who selected the Tecno and Speedstar devices incurred additional monthly charges over and beyond the N4,500 monthly device credit voucher of the Federal Government.
“Consequently, the additional costs will be deducted from their stipends between the months of March and July, 2018.”

For the five months period, it means you’ll incur a total of N2,705.
To us, this is more than affordable. Paying that amount on a device worth over N80,000.
Next month don’t be surprised as the deduction will continue till July , 2018.

N-Power Beneficiaries In Gombe Knocks Sen. Goje Over Comment
By Chuwang Dungs, Gombe
LEADERSHIP - Beneficiaries of the federal government Social Investment Programmes (SIPs), N-Power in Gombe state has condemned in strong
terms the call by Senator Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe central for the scrapping of the programme over false claims that no single person
in the state is benefitting from the programme.
The beneficiaries mocked Goje’s claims disclosing that the state has a number of 2,900 persons currently benefiting from the N-Power initiative.
The beneficiaries while addressing Journalist during a Press conference held in Gombe on Wednesday described the comments and action of the
senator, who was former governor of the state as unbecoming and a disservice to the people of Gombe state, especially his constituency.
In the statement which was signed by Muawiya Abdulhamid, the state N-Power ambassador and read by Muhammad Wakil, the beneficiaries said
they found it necessary to response and set the records straight, because the Senator’s comments are not only untrue and baseless but stands
against thousands of less privileged Nigerians who are now benefiting from the good gesture of the present government.
“Our findings revealed that out of the over 446 N-Power beneficiaries from Akko Local Government Area, about 30% are from his electoral ward. Also some primary schools in Kashere are currently enjoying the SIPs schools feeding programme.”
“With this records and facts Goje’s comments were not only shortsighted and myopic, it is extremely unacceptable and deeply disappointing.” They
added.
“We expect him as a respected former governor and now a serving Senator to exploit ways of confirming and sustaining the appointments ofthe N-Power beneficiaries and also other SIPs programme base on the impact they are currently cresting in the society.”
Wakil while commending the federal government for initiating the programme said, “we would not be intimidated by anybody in defending the truth and a government that is working towards improving the lives of the masses.”

On Thursday, Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede in the Facebook LIVE chat addressed the recent delay in stipends for existing beneficiaries.
Here is the transcribed chat on that issue.
Delay in Stipends
The last point I need to make is the issue about delay in stipends, someone raised a question that N500 million was budgeted for the Social Investment Program, why are having delays in stipends. So, it’s a very good question, I think is also an educative question because as you know in Npower you learn so if anything at all this is also you learning about government accounting.
Now everything we must do as a government originate from a budget, this and things we talking about government and budget accounting I want you to begin to pay extra attention there for now because this is a budget cycle time of government.
We are discussing the 2018 budget right now in the national assembly, so please watch less of home video and Nollywood, pay more attention now to current affairs, to NTA and all the conversations around budget.
So the way government spending whether at federal, state or local government, the budgeting process is how it starts, the government money is spent through a budget just the same way you have a family budget, you obviously have a budget for your N30,000, if you don’t have a budget for your N30,000 you won’t even have a means by which you save for investment and also assist your family and your kids and what have you.
So same with budgets, but then you also know that budget is not always equal to releases. So yes, there was a 500 million that was appropriated for the Social Investment Program which comprises not just N-Power which is the job creation component, you’ve got the Conditional Cash Transfer, you’ve got the Home Grown School Feeding and you’ve got the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program which gives loans to market women, artisans and traders.
So these are the whole multiple components that make up the Social Investment Program which had the N500 million budget. But then we don’t get a release that is equal to N500 million budget. Fancy this is you could have a budget for your year like u say in 2018 my budget for my home is a million naira but if all you’re able to rake in is N600,000 then what do you have? You have a N400,000 shortfall, so what do you do? You re-appropriate your spending based on what you released.
So that’s what it is with the way it works for us as well. Yes we have the budget but then the releases which come from how the Government earns its revenue which is through taxes, through oil revenue an all the other forms of revenue that comes to the Federal Government.
So because you also know that we have been in an era of low oil prices you know therefore the revenue of the Federal Government have been declining so what happen are those in charge, our custodians of our money which is the honorable Ministry of Finance, the FIRS and all those in charge of managing the treasury of the Federal Government always have to meet each and every time to re-appropriate the expenditures based on what you earn, just the same way you do in your family as well so that’s the reason why we also have delays sometimes in stipends.
Let’s also understand that Government money is also not the kind of money that I just put in my pocket and spend, there is a process for the release of Government money so sometimes yes, money is released to us every month and that’s the reason why till date we don’t owe you any 1 month since you joined this program, it means that money is released to us to do this every month.
However, the timing in which it gets released sometimes necessitates the reason for the delay and because the due process still must be followed even if the money was released late. So that would be why but I think we should continue to hold faith like I mentioned to some of you on twitter over the weekend. Continue to hold faith in the program on the singular basis that we have never owed you and there has not been a time that we’ve owed you any one month.
So that’s enough reason for you to keep faith, keep faith also because all your colleagues and friends who hitherto because of reasons that rest squarely on their shoulders around BVN, mismatched and all what have you and we worked with them assiduously over the last couple of months to correct their pay and they continue to get paid from the first month in terms of backlogs, a lot of you have also gotten your backlogs.
I approved your backlog payments for some of you 13 months just last month in March. I do recall that your 13th months fell sweep which was about 390,000 which could not be paid directly to your bank accounts, some of you might have had a cap on your accounts so we’ve had to break it down to maybe about 100,000 thrice and 90,000.
I think we’ve maintained and shown enough integrity like I said to you earlier, when you are in the 17th month of the program, you are a veteran. By all standards I think we’ve maintained enough integrity for you to no longer doubt the integrity of this program, nor the integrity of Mr President, his Vice, and those of us who run this program, so if you still have one, or two few months in terms of backlogs, still keep faith in the program, and don’t lose sight of you, we have a full coverage, audit trail of every one of you, and no one will be owed and everyone will be settled.

If you have checked the SELECTION PREFERENCE menu, you would have got enough information about the category of people the programme is meant for. It always the best practice to check ALL available link in any job application pages.

N-Power beneficiaries receive devices for teaching, health and agricultural programmes
Updated: 17th April, 2018
Author: Jerrywright Ukwu
Batch B beneficiaries of the N-Power on Friday, April 13, collected their mobile devices at the NUT Pavilion, Teachers House, in Alausa Lagos.
NAIJ.com gathered that the beneficiaries were largely 2016 Batch B beneficiaries who had undergone training in the N-Power Teach, N- Power
Agro and N-Power Health programmes.
An initiative of the federal government, the N-Power scheme seeks to address the unemployment challenges in the country by recruiting 500,000
volunteers, training and paying them a monthly stipend of N30,000 over a 2-year period.
Thesevolunteers have been given relevant skills acquisition training in order to address critical needs in education, healthcare, technology and other artisanal industries across the country.

beneficiary with a mobile computing device that will contain information necessary for their specific engagement, as well as information for their
continuous training and development.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the beneficiaries were full of praises for the federal government, for engaging them to be part of the
programme Chiwendu Okeke, a psychology graduate from the Nnamdi Azikwe
University, Akwa, said: “For those who think that Npower is a scam or sham, it is for real and I am a testimony to that.”
Chiwendu Okeke, a psychology graduate from the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Akwa shows off her device. Photo credit: N-Power On his part, Omolade Oyawoye, a political science graduate from the
University of Uyo, said: “I have come here to receive my device and the process has been orderly and not stressful. The MTN guys in charge of the device distribution have put in place a solid system for collection.
“I am in the N-Teach program and looking forward to resumption of school so that the device can help me prepare well and have better understanding
to make my work easier.”
Also speaking, Malik Barakat Omotoyosi, a finance graduate from the University of Ilorin, noted that: “The device would help to carry out the work we have been assigned to and our names are even inscribed on it.
“There are some apps on the device that have been pre-loaded, that would help people like me who are working in the N-Health programme without a
health background. We also get paid our monthly stipends regularly and promptly.”
Ibrahim Badmus, a graduate of insurance from the Lagos State University, said : “I heard about the scheme online and I enrolled online unlike some
other processes where you need to go through a godfather, I enrolled and I was accepted into the programme “I selected N-Agro and my focus is to set myself up in agriculture. I am currently working on putting out my agricultural product and this device gives me the opportunity to learn more. After N-power, I am looking to set up my own business, in agric.”
NAIJ.com gathered that device owners are on a special post-paid N-Power Plan. They can check their balance by dialing *558#. Also, data
allocation for N-Power volunteers is 750MB monthly. Beneficiaries can check for data balance by dialing *460*200#.
There is also no need to recharge for their monthly data bundle. However, they can recharge and subscribe for additional bundle once the allocated
one is exhausted using MTN existing codes.
The presidency recently announced that no fewer than 6.8 million Nigerians out of the projected 10 million have benefited from its National Social Investment Programme.
This was contained in a release issued by Laolu Akande, senior special assistant on media and publicity to the vice president.
According to him, the figure represents nearly 70 per cent success rate ithe implementation of the programme.

How to generate OTP for Npower 2017 on NPVN Portal
3 hours ago Add Comment 2 Min Read
(Last Updated On: April 23, 2018)

N-power has released the final list for the 2017 applicants, and the team has directed all successful candidates to login to the NPVN portal.
In a short message on its social media accounts, N-power writes:
“Dear 2017 Pre-selected applicants,
First, we need you to smile .
Secondly, you can now check your final selection status at npvn.npower.gov.ng/login
Use your phone number or email address to see if you have transitioned from pre-selected applicants to beneficiaries”
How to generate OTP on 2017 NPVN Portal
In this regard, this is how to generate One Time Password to gain full access to the NpowerNG Volunteer Network, which was created for those who made the final selection.
Step 1:
Clear the cache of your browser, make sure to use advanced browsers like Chrome, Mozilla etc
Step 2:
Enter http://npvn.npower.gov.ng/login
into your browser
Step 3:
Enter the phone number associated with your NPOWER profile. That’s the number you used during registration process. You’ll definitely see a success message indicating that you’ve been selected.
If you have not received message, you can also try this method.
Step 4:
Dial *347*5*88# on your phone, it’s possible you get NPVN as your OTP, don’t worry.
Step 5:
Login to your email address if you didn’t get the OTP on your phone.
That’s all.
You can begin other things on the NPVN portal.
What to do if you are yet to receive OTP
We got one applicant asking:
“I have gone through the above stated process and got a Congratulation. Then I continued with the this code *347*5*88# and actually got a four digit code which I guess is the OTP. I have entered this number severally to submit and the response I get is “Error! OTP validation failed” please, what do I do?”
You can try any of the following tips if you’re having the same problem.
1) Be patient as the portal will be busy at this time.
2) Clear your phone cache
3) Login to your email address to check for your OTP
