Hi. I live and work in scotland.
For flights, use skyscanner.net to check for all flight options.
For sim cards, there are several lowcost networks like Lebara and Lycamobile, especially for calling Nigeria cheap. As a student, you shouldd have wifi around your school a lot so won't need to buy network data so much, but if you do, I recommend EE, Virgin Mobile, and 3.

I don't know about edinburgh, but There's no lack of nigerian stuff in Glasgow. There are at least 3 dedicated nigerian food stores, and 3 different nigerian restaurants in Glasgow. Also, many nigerian foods can be bought at any large middle-eastern food store, and I'm sure there are several at Edinburgh.

For affordable clothing, Primark is the best option.

Cheers

Please how much should I budget for accommodation in scotland

You were not specific or clear with regards to jobs, plenty part-time jobs are available. If you are a student each school has career fairs which you could also check out.... I have no idea about Childcare, but I know NHS Scotland is Great! so health care is superb. Rent is fair, and as you move away from the city center/University area it becomes cheaper, typically a decent 2 bedroom in Scotland (West) could range from 400-900 pounds depending on how deep your pocket runs and area. Goodluck

400-900 pounds a year or monthly?

Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Orofun1: 9:18pm On Jun 20, 2018
I will recommend Bishop road, Marconi road, I lived on bishop road myself some years back while schooling in ARU. I guess I was paying about 350 quid monthly then.

Morning guys. I have received an unconditional offer to study MEng Civil Engineering in Uni of Derby this September. I checked the school's ranking 2 days ago and realized that for Civil Engineering, they were ranked 51 out of 54 for unis offering that course in UK. I've been so bothered. What does this imply please? Should I forget the school and apply to better ranked unis? Please advice.

If you are not comfortable with the ranking, i will suggest you check other schools cos basically 85% of these schools pay almost same fees. It is better to pay £12000 in a top ranked school of atleast first 10 than to pay such for a lowly ranked school. You can check Birmingham and Coventry. Birmingham is a lively city. You can check Coventry where i schooled. The overall ranking of Coventry is really improving by the year.

Thanks bro. My only concern is that applying to other schools might mean waiting till January 2019.

Bro, If you have enough for tuition go for good schools, I will not discredit Derby for nothing than your pocket. Good schools depend on your pocket.

Oh I am just seeing this, I am currently writing my dissertation. I would like to hook up so you can give me tips about the planning profession in the UK. Can I send you a pm?

Orofun1:
Hope u re in Chelmsford now and if otherwise your best bet for a job is as a carer.... To register go to Witham, there is an agency there that will train you and be giving you jobs, you can also register with ENS agency when you have 6 months carer experience. I studied Msc Town Planning in ARU some years back.

If you are applying for medicine from nigeria without any existing degrees, you would first need to apply for A levels(2 years programme) in a college. After your A levels if u have excellent results then u can proceed for ukcat then before getting into medical school. That's the summary.

Not possible...Best way is to get your tuition fee ready and complete before applying. Might be possible to get some cash to assist with rent fees but just a bit
