The training is focusing on bridal flowers. I'll update as often as I can.

Career / A Training Course, Not A Lecture Workshop by rosety: 10:14am On Aug 07, 2015
Many times we get invitations to or worse, pay for a training course in some hand-work that can earn us a living only to find out that it's just a lecture we are attending. No hands-on training, no practicals, and no support afterwards.

If you need the skills of a great floral designer? Rosety Gardens is giving you the opportunity.

Our training class begins August 25th to August 28th 2015.
Topics include
*Pre Handling
*Floral Wiring
*Bridal florals
*Hidden mechanisms for complexity and longevity
...and so much more.

For proper hands on tutoring, we are taking a very small number of students and so places are extremely limited.

PLUS all students get automatic discounts on flower purchases for the duration of A WHOLE YEAR!!! In addition to active support on costing and quantifying for as long as you need.

It can't get any better.

I worked with a client last year to do this. He took her out to see a movie while we set things up at his place. So when they get back, she sees the trail of rose petals lead all the way to a bed of roses and diamond lights with the ring on it. The bottle of champagne is for the celebration afterwards. wink

Too many brides forget that her looks aren't complete without a great bouquet. Too many brides leave that to the last minute. Too many brides see a bouquet as "just another thing" . But I say how else do you breath life into your marriage than starting with fresh real flowers? Not artificial. Not just for your bouquet but for your decor. Let Rosety help you.

imagine, starting planning in feb for a nov wedding, meanwhile my bestie here is getting married in april and she has not done anything. she doesn't even knw whr to start from. The only thing she's done is introduction, fixing a date and marriage class. Lol

Lol? Naa. That should be COL (crying out loud)!

The major advantage of early planning is the reduced headache for the bride on that day, making it possible for her to just relax and enjoy herself. Has she made her budget? Decided on venue and vendors? Has she picked her colours? Does she know where her gown is coming from? Her bouquet? It's a long asśed list she has to go through.

If she thinks people will laugh at her for "initial gra gra" she should know that same people will laugh at her red eyes on that day.

It's never too early to start planning. I met a customer in February last year. We finalised her plans and all and she paid me a good percentage of the bill in August. Her wedding was in November. She had a similar arrangement with all her vendors. Her wedding day was flawless. Everyone and everything was in proper place and order.

True there is a risk involved especially with the large number of unreliable or down-right fraudulent businesses in Naija but early planning reduces the last minute stresses that most brides put themselves and their families through.
Romance / Re: What Can I Give To Her, That Will Be Appreciated by rosety: 3:24pm On Dec 22, 2014
For wealthy and well travelled ladies, especially the older ladies, it is the thought put into a gift that counts. Especially when that gift is something they see whenever they travel but have almost never come across here in Nigeria.
we make beautiful flower bouquets and arrangements as gifts for people of this class and they are always well appreciated. Here is something we did for a client's mother-in-law a couple of weeks back. The lady kept it by here bed since then and according to my client, she hasn't stopped talking about it till date! That's the kind of effect you want to achieve.

Romance / Re: Do Nigerian Girls Really Appreciate Flowers As Gifts? by rosety: 1:45am On Oct 11, 2014
A little while ago, a guy walked into my garden to order a flower bouquet. We always try to know why and who the flowers are meant for in order to advice on colour and style. The young man said the flowers were for his wife. Not her birthday. Not their anniversary. But just to show that "he appreciates her". So do Nigerian ladies appreciate flowers? Hell yeah!

Agriculture / Re: Apple Cultivation In Nigeria.(pictures) by rosety: 2:14pm On Sep 28, 2014
Apples CAN grow in Nigeria and other tropical regions but not all apple varieties will fruit even when they grow. This is because most apple varieties require cold periods to begin fruiting (trying not to use technical jargon). However, varieties like Anna and Fuji do not require long cold periods or require higher temperatures to stimulate fruiting - temperatures that are reachable in Nigeria, temps in the 25°c region.
A client of mine just started an apple-avocado farm in Jos and we supplied about 150 bare-rooted trees purchased from Florida. Now temperatures in Florida don't get as cold as in most other parts of the American and European continents and the Anna variety of apples does very well there. The trees we planted are still young but they are doing very well. I expect fruits this time next year.

maclatunji:

Actually, it is telling me that regardless of what Nigerian ladies say, the overwhelming majority of you are materialistic and place little value on symbolism.

Sad, but seems true - at least with regards to nairaland babes. But even those that reject the symbolism associated with a guy giving her what he thinks is as beautiful as she is, try giving flowers to them when she's at work, or in the midst of her friends! The fact that her guy can do something so romantic and her friends' guys cannot, that's all the symbolism they need!!!

Know this for a fact cos it's my job.

Career / Floral Designing by rosety: 5:13pm On Jul 21, 2014
If you want to learn floral designing as a hobby or as an alternate career or you just want to upgrade your skills, this should be an interesting read.

With the rise in the use of fresh flowers for events, weddings and gifts, floral designing has become a very lucrative skill. Good florists are in short supply and high demand by event decorators. Event decorators also will find the skills useful their business as they can do the job themselves if need be.

Rosety Gardens is offering a one of a kind training program in Lagos - a level of training not available anywhere in Nigeria. Using fresh flowers for all practical classes (an it is almost totally practical classes), attendees will receive the required knowledge and confidence needed to become top class floral designers.

cdamsel: I Actually meant when they get delivered how long can they stay in room temperature

A flower bouquet given and kept in say your living room will stay good for 5 days to a week. However, the temp of your room matters too. The cooler, the longer.
Romance / Re: Valentine Gift For Him Or Her by rosety: 4:25pm On Jan 08, 2014
The joy of flowers is that their beauty is fleeting. A song says

Frail as summer’s flower we flourish;
Blows the wind, and it is gone:
But while mortals rise and perish,
God endures unchanging on:

Floral arrangements last about a week in a cool environment. We give'em stuff to help it stay good, beautiful and fragrant for as long as possible.

I have a client who has had a standing order with me for over 10 years now. Every val's day, I am to deliver a huge flower arrangement to his wife's office.

This year, we did something like this but in red. Can't find the picture now.

Romance / Re: Valentine Gift For Him Or Her by rosety: 3:47pm On Jan 08, 2014
Valentines Day has been made to look like a day to give se.x for gifts or give gifts for se.x. Truth is it's a day to specially show someone how much love you have for them. When it's done right, its more beautiful than you can imagine.

I have a client who has had a standing order with me for over 10 years now. Every val's day, I am to deliver a huge flower arrangement to his wife's office. Point is, the lady is in her 50s. The Man, over 60. But he always shows his love to her in such a way that her colleagues and friends can't but be envious. What I hear from the reception desk of her office is that I am just one of many deliveries she receives that day. Damn. I pray to be like that to my wife when I'm 60 too.

Romance / Nigerian Ladies And Flowers by rosety: 4:12pm On Oct 30, 2013
I keep on hearing how Nigerian ladies do not appreciate flowers as gifts. Today, for the first time in a while, I made flower deliveries myself, choosing not to send my staff.

Man! You need to have seen the look on these ladies when they got the bouquets even before they found out who sent them. Priceless! You need to see delight and joy and pleasure and all those words.

I love my job.
Romance / Re: Help, Her Birthday Is Fast Approaching. by rosety: 1:59pm On Jul 16, 2013

Romance / Re: Give A Nigerian Girl A Flower And She"ll Ask You "Na Flower I Go Chop? " by rosety: 8:31am On Jul 04, 2013
Vikin:

That's to say, flowers in Nigeria with the weather and humidity will just die before u can even give to your loved one,

Besides, you can hardly see shops that sell those except the synthetic because of the extreme weather condition and interrupted power supply.

Sorry to dissapoint but Nigeria (at least a huge portion) is no hotter or more humid than most of India and central America (including large swarths of the US) and fresh flowers are hawked in the streets in these places. I have been selling flower arrangements and bouquets since 1991. At least!

So it's all a matter of interest, desire and understanding. That one Nigerian doesn't like or appreciate fresh flowers doesn't mean his/her neighbour doesn't go gaga over them.

As for me, I keep meeting new clients everyday and I keep delivering to states outside Lagos to both male and female recipients. Especially female. So don't tell me a Nigerian girl will toss it aside as grass. Say the Nigerian girls YOU KNOW will toss it aside as grass.

Vikin: Just like someone said here, flower is not an African thing undecided...and I agree

I don't. Some of the biggest flower farms in the world are in Africa. Ethiopia in fact, which is one of the few African countries that have historically resisted western colonisation.
