Barnsley’s coach Darell Clarke on Nwakali

" Kelechi is a mile off right now,” Clarke said in a recent interview. “He needs to do what I’ve told him—get fitter, more high-speed distance running. It’s nothing I haven’t already said to him.” “He needs to improve in all areas, but we also understand he’s adapting to the English game and we’ll keep working with him"

How can an active professional football player who was not out injured be this unfit?

It only shows he's not serious with his football career.

There are people who make pap for babies. They use various ingredients with good nutritional value. You can find one and buy or find someone to make for you. It's usually much cheaper and better than custard.

Hmm, pap is not as good as manufactured cereals and it'll definitely tell on a baby in terms of growth and freshness.

I had my 3rd and last child in January this year and he was born at 3.8kg. He started eating at 3 & half months when wifey was preparing to resume back to work from maternity leave.

Due to the exorbitant cost of baby cereals, we opted for home made pap and the made-in-Nigeria cerelac to feed him.

Wifey buys the ingredients (yellow corn, guinea corn, millet, date, coconut, ginger, cloves and unripe plantain) and makes the pap herself, which is a dark brown colour. NAN milk is added to the baby's pap when it's prepared to feed him.

Now, it's established that with good nutrition, babies should ordinarily double their birth weights at 6 months but when baby went for his 6 months immunization, he weighed 7.4kg.

In contrast, his older siblings who were born at lower weights of 3.5kg and 3.25kg, and fed exclusively with Frisogold, imported Cerelac & NAN milk weighed 8.3kg and 8kg respectively at 6 months.

Baby is healthy and very active, and has even hit some developmental milestones faster than his siblings but our conclusion is that his size is due to the lower nutritional input.

In conclusion, ogi no fit do the work wey imported baby cereals dey do. If you see fresh and chubby baby, check well cos no be pap dem dey chop.

Deltamani:

Sorry to ask what did Herve Renard win with the star stunded French team? You think Coaching the female team is same as male right? Females and males have extremely different thought processes and brains which adds even more differentiation to the uniqueness of individual players. So you can’t just bring someone who hasn’t been around the Women’s game to take over especially a big team like the SuperFalcons that’s tankful... ( Coach Kadiri Ikenna tried it before and Failed with the SuperFalcons in 2012) I’m not in support of that..!

If they can’t get a Top & World Class Foreign Coach in the Women’s game, they should go for either Florence Omagbemi or Mercy Akide Udoh. They’re the biggest and best Ex-internationals who are Coaches that we can rely upon..

I don’t even want to see any Justin Madugu and Ann Chiejene suggestion at all..

Baba, football is essentially football whether male or female.

The coaches who won laurels with the falcons were able to do so because of the gulf in quality between our players and those of other african countries due to the head-start advantage we had in female football development.

Now the other African countries; SA, Morocco, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zambia etc have closed the gap with regard to players quality by constituting women leagues and recruiting dual-citizenship players which has made matches more competitive.

So what will make the difference and keep the Falcons at the top will be top-class coaching, and these coaches are not the coaches in the NWPL Neither are they the teams ex-internationals like Florence Omagbemi, Eucharia Uche, Ann Chiejene or Mercy Akide-Udoh, all whom I consider to be vapid tactic-wise with their obsolete formations.

That's why I advocate for the any of the 3 coaches I mentioned earlier who I consider to be the best locally.

None of them should get the job. Like you said in an earlier post, what have they been doing the last couple of years? Asides being former players, in what basis should they be in contention for the job? Like you highlighted, asides the fact that they lack highly in experience, none of them have high level coaching certifications.

The biggest issue for me is tram management. I've seen Ayinla and Mercy Akide talk and they don't come across as people who will effectively manage the team properly (I may be wrong). Omagbemi is the only one I haven't heard talk lately so can't access her.

What's puzzling is there are many African countries who will at least consider giving someone like Mercy Akide and Omagbemi a job based on their playing history alone. Why our old players don't take up jobs elsewhere but wait on the sidelines for the Nigerian national team job with no experience s always puzzling.

The NFF should go get an experienced coach that can manage the team properly. Preferably one who won't mind being resident half the time in Nigeria.

The only way I'll support appointing any of our ex players is if the other option is Justin or Ann.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

In addition to your points, must the super falcons be coached exclusively by the team's ex-players or career-female football coaches?

I've heard Florence Omagbemi, Ann Chiejine, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Eucharia Uche and Perpetua Nkwocha speak and they do not seem tactically adept, technically astute or inspire confidence. Na so so religiousity, prayer and God dem dey trumpet undecided

If we're going local. I prefer we go for the best hands; a male who is proven and tested in coaching at the senior level and has managed adult teams not kids.

I'll have suggested the NFF Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen but I suspect he'll be at the helms of the Super Eagles for a while and combining that with the role of the Super Falcons coach may be unworkable.

So I'm thinking Fidelis Ilechukwu, Imama Amapakabo or Daniel Ogunmodede would be perfect for the job.

If Herve Rennard with all his experience,, achievements and coaching laurels can be coach of the French National Female team, why should we restrict our most successful national football team to being coached by inexperienced female ex-internationals and B-grade foreign coaches.?

We might as well try our proven coaches in the NPFL.

Wow. Why did you say so. He only scored 7 to 19 goals last season. I'm not saying you are wring but state your reasons. Have you actually seen him play

I agree 7 goals in 19 appearances isn't stellar for a striker but my opinion is not restricted to his goals tally.

It's more about his skillset and attributes - positioning, threat-factor, pace, game contribution and all round play.

I watched the full match of Montpellier vs Nice (Akor Adams vs Terem Moffi) last season with both starting and although neither of them scored, it was as clear as day that Akor was the better striker.

,........and oh, it's not just a one-match opinion.

As for Gift Orban, he can be quite anonymous in games and I'm not yet convinced about him

Jose Peseiro did something good for us.

He made us realize that a 5-man defence (3 centre backs and 2 wing backs) and 3-5-2 / 3-4-3 is the best formations suited to our players and the team.

This formation puts more bodies in defense giving the team defensive solidity. Also, it gives us width on the flanks with the wingbacks allowing them to bomb forward and tuck into the midfield when necessary.

I doubt Eguavoen would have played this formation if not for the last AFCON where Peseiro deployed it so effectively cos in his previous stints as coach of the Super Eagles, he never played that way. In addition, his "tactical analysis" before AFCON 2022 and the Nigeria-Ghana WCQ match formations showed he was stuck on 4-4-2/4-3-3

This time around, Eguavoen has shown adaptability and a fast learning curve with his tactical decisions. I also like that he's eloquent, and instills confidence and belief in the team. In addition, his player invitations are fair and unlike his predecessor, he doesn't do the silly home-based quota thing.

My only gripe with AE is his susceptibility to influence fron football journalists and analysts, and sometimes poor in-match management but so far, so good.

With the benefit of hindsight, appointing Finidi George was an error. ...one that may ultimately cost us the World cup ticket. I still cannot fathom why he ditched the system that got the team to the AFCON final. undecided

Perhaps, if Eguavoen had been appointed to tinker the team after the AFCON, we wouldn't be in this precarious situation in the WCQ.

Eguavoen should be allowed to take charge of the AFCON and WC qualifiers, and if he does well, he should be appointed as the substantive coach with a long term contract.

I'm hopeful Augustine Eguavoen will succeed this time around. By this I mean, win all the games he'll be in charge and contribute significantly to our AFCON qualification.

I'm impressed by his player invitations, squad selections and choice of Assistants.

Also, I believe he must have learnt some lessons from the last AFCON & WCQ he coached the team.

Anyway, If I had to choose a Nigerian coach for the Super Eagles, only two names come to mind - Austin Eguavoen and Michael Nsien, the US U-20 coach. The rest like Samson Siasia, Salisu Yusuf and Ndubuisi Egbo no follow for me.

I'll be rooting for Eguavoen and the team

In future. I hope whoever becomes the substantive coach can bring more players into the fold. Igor Ogbu, Tolu Arokodare, Uche Christantus, Elijah Adebayo, Akor Adams, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Victor Eletu and Gift Orban (if he's cleared by FIFA) readily comes to mind.

They're still trying to screw Osimhen at this 11th hour by presenting a written agreement different from what was verbally agreed with Osimhen.

Once an academy has young and talented ballers, with serious connects abroad, partner with an European football club and align with some good agents, cash out is guaranteed.

That isn't the decision before him though and it's a more nuanced conversation. Yes, there are a few persons blatantly asking Victor to go for the money, but should he go to Saudi, money won't be the primary reason as important as that is, it will be because that's his best way out of Italy on his own terms.

So the story I hear is that Victor's deal with PSG (his most preferred destination btw) was 80% done but Napoli frustrated it. There were also very genuine potential offers from the EPL who were ready to give Victor his current salary at Napoli but spread his transfer payment over a period of time but ADL frustrated that move to. There's an internal battle apparently going on behind the scene in Napoli frustrating this move for Victor.

His options? A loan move to Chelsea without a guaranteed contract and a slash in pay by 40% or a move to Saudi Arabia. Chelsea didn't want to commit to a long term contract and if you understand football business you'll know that's a trap for Victor. It's like gambling with his future with a team still experimenting at this stage of his career. If it doesn't work, he won't get an offer from Chelsea neither will any top club be incentivized to sign him.

It wasn't until recently Chelsea came around to loan with obligation to buy and even with that they still expect him to take a 40% cut to his current salary. For context, it means he'll earn about €6.7M a year under Chelsea's current offer.

Saudi Arabia is offering him 7 times that amount with a buyout clause in the range many clubs in England can afford in a years time. Outside what we all think, something is fundamentally wrong with Chelsea's offer. Outside the money, it screams they don't really value him which for me is the bugger issue here. This same Chelsea went on a needless bidding war to sign Caicedo and Lavia. Why are they finding it difficult for sign a player with the pedigree of Victor and pricing like they are buying groundnut except there's a fundamental issue with their perception of his value? He's not asking for a lay increase, her asking that he be paid what he currently earns this is also considering he'll be paying significantly more taxes in England.

Long and short, Victor will make a decision he considers best for himself. Whether it is to wait it out to see if Chelsea meets him half way or go to Saudi Arabia and hopefully returns to Europe in a few years. Whatever the case is, I hope we as Nigerians support him.

The best post I have read on this Osimhen transfer saga.

Thank you my brother. Whatever the house agree on, l am ok with it. Some people do not realize that over 80% of our problems in Nigeria are caused by tribalism, nepotism, religious Intolerance and lack of love.
We have great people in every sector of life who can make our country great, but the above mentioned points always make us go for the wrong guys which has render our Nigerian space comatose.

Again, people should realize that l am not doing any giveaway here because almost all the guys here are very succesful in their various fields. Rather, l noticed that once in awhile, some few people try to bring tribalism here which Can destroy this our beautiful football space. So, it is my own little way to control tribalism here. I believe, if all of us here should be preaching " NO TO TRIBALISM" in our various communities and space, we will make Nigeria a better place in our own little ways.
For those who followed or read about the Rwanda génocide of the Hutus and tutsis, you we understand at what scale tribalism is bad and no country develops with such.

Hmm, I believe we are all subjectively biased and no one is truly detribalized (in real life) but I commend and support your initiative to stem it in this thread by incentivizing people to post without recourse to tribal sentiments and innuendos.

I do not think the nicknames given to Nigerian players by Ernest Okonkwo reflected his intelligence.

I'll opine that it was due to patriotism and nationalistic fervour, and were an exaggeration and overhype of the players talent and football abilities.
