Itsrm: Hmm, pap is not as good as manufactured cereals and it'll definitely tell on a baby in terms of growth and freshness. I had my 3rd and last child in January this year and he was born at 3.8kg. He started eating at 3 & half months when wifey was preparing to resume back to work from maternity leave. Due to the exorbitant cost of baby cereals, we opted for home made pap and the made-in-Nigeria cerelac to feed him. Wifey buys the ingredients (yellow corn, guinea corn, millet, date, coconut, ginger, cloves and unripe plantain) and makes the pap herself, which is a dark brown colour. NAN milk is added to the baby's pap when it's prepared to feed him. Now, it's established that with good nutrition, babies should ordinarily double their birth weights at 6 months but when baby went for his 6 months immunization, he weighed 7.4kg. In contrast, his older siblings who were born at lower weights of 3.5kg and 3.25kg, and fed exclusively with Frisogold, imported Cerelac & NAN milk weighed 8.3kg and 8kg respectively at 6 months. Baby is healthy and very active, and has even hit some developmental milestones faster than his siblings but our conclusion is that his size is due to the lower nutritional input. In conclusion, ogi no fit do the work wey imported baby cereals dey do. If you see fresh and chubby baby, check well cos no be pap dem dey chop. 1 Like 1 Share |

Deltamani: Baba, football is essentially football whether male or female. The coaches who won laurels with the falcons were able to do so because of the gulf in quality between our players and those of other african countries due to the head-start advantage we had in female football development. Now the other African countries; SA, Morocco, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zambia etc have closed the gap with regard to players quality by constituting women leagues and recruiting dual-citizenship players which has made matches more competitive. So what will make the difference and keep the Falcons at the top will be top-class coaching, and these coaches are not the coaches in the NWPL Neither are they the teams ex-internationals like Florence Omagbemi, Eucharia Uche, Ann Chiejene or Mercy Akide-Udoh, all whom I consider to be vapid tactic-wise with their obsolete formations. That's why I advocate for the any of the 3 coaches I mentioned earlier who I consider to be the best locally. 1 Like |

lovewins: I agree with you wholeheartedly. In addition to your points, must the super falcons be coached exclusively by the team's ex-players or career-female football coaches? I've heard Florence Omagbemi, Ann Chiejine, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Eucharia Uche and Perpetua Nkwocha speak and they do not seem tactically adept, technically astute or inspire confidence. Na so so religiousity, prayer and God dem dey trumpet If we're going local. I prefer we go for the best hands; a male who is proven and tested in coaching at the senior level and has managed adult teams not kids. I'll have suggested the NFF Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen but I suspect he'll be at the helms of the Super Eagles for a while and combining that with the role of the Super Falcons coach may be unworkable. So I'm thinking Fidelis Ilechukwu, Imama Amapakabo or Daniel Ogunmodede would be perfect for the job. If Herve Rennard with all his experience,, achievements and coaching laurels can be coach of the French National Female team, why should we restrict our most successful national football team to being coached by inexperienced female ex-internationals and B-grade foreign coaches.? We might as well try our proven coaches in the NPFL. |

Philosopher1979: I agree 7 goals in 19 appearances isn't stellar for a striker but my opinion is not restricted to his goals tally. It's more about his skillset and attributes - positioning, threat-factor, pace, game contribution and all round play. I watched the full match of Montpellier vs Nice (Akor Adams vs Terem Moffi) last season with both starting and although neither of them scored, it was as clear as day that Akor was the better striker. ,........and oh, it's not just a one-match opinion. As for Gift Orban, he can be quite anonymous in games and I'm not yet convinced about him 1 Like 1 Share |

Jose Peseiro did something good for us. He made us realize that a 5-man defence (3 centre backs and 2 wing backs) and 3-5-2 / 3-4-3 is the best formations suited to our players and the team. This formation puts more bodies in defense giving the team defensive solidity. Also, it gives us width on the flanks with the wingbacks allowing them to bomb forward and tuck into the midfield when necessary. I doubt Eguavoen would have played this formation if not for the last AFCON where Peseiro deployed it so effectively cos in his previous stints as coach of the Super Eagles, he never played that way. In addition, his "tactical analysis" before AFCON 2022 and the Nigeria-Ghana WCQ match formations showed he was stuck on 4-4-2/4-3-3 This time around, Eguavoen has shown adaptability and a fast learning curve with his tactical decisions. I also like that he's eloquent, and instills confidence and belief in the team. In addition, his player invitations are fair and unlike his predecessor, he doesn't do the silly home-based quota thing. My only gripe with AE is his susceptibility to influence fron football journalists and analysts, and sometimes poor in-match management but so far, so good. With the benefit of hindsight, appointing Finidi George was an error. ...one that may ultimately cost us the World cup ticket. I still cannot fathom why he ditched the system that got the team to the AFCON final. Perhaps, if Eguavoen had been appointed to tinker the team after the AFCON, we wouldn't be in this precarious situation in the WCQ. Eguavoen should be allowed to take charge of the AFCON and WC qualifiers, and if he does well, he should be appointed as the substantive coach with a long term contract. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

I'm hopeful Augustine Eguavoen will succeed this time around. By this I mean, win all the games he'll be in charge and contribute significantly to our AFCON qualification. I'm impressed by his player invitations, squad selections and choice of Assistants. Also, I believe he must have learnt some lessons from the last AFCON & WCQ he coached the team. Anyway, If I had to choose a Nigerian coach for the Super Eagles, only two names come to mind - Austin Eguavoen and Michael Nsien, the US U-20 coach. The rest like Samson Siasia, Salisu Yusuf and Ndubuisi Egbo no follow for me. I'll be rooting for Eguavoen and the team In future. I hope whoever becomes the substantive coach can bring more players into the fold. Igor Ogbu, Tolu Arokodare, Uche Christantus, Elijah Adebayo, Akor Adams, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Victor Eletu and Gift Orban (if he's cleared by FIFA) readily comes to mind. 12 Likes 4 Shares |

Napoli is a 419 club. They're still trying to screw Osimhen at this 11th hour by presenting a written agreement different from what was verbally agreed with Osimhen. Off topic - Nigerian Journalists are really cooking in this Osimhen transfer saga. Shocking I'm moved to tears and at a loss for words. He helped me fix up my car when I first got it. Years later, when I had AC issues and had bought compressors twice from Mgbuka Obosi that didn't last, I got a compressor through him and that compressor has been working ever since and put paid to my car AC issue. He also advised, diagnosed and proferred solution to other car issues I was experiencing numerous times. Gazzuzz was a great guy and Nairaland has lost a good one. May God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss, amen. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Between now and November, when the nominations will be made all the new monikers who invaded this thread because of the reward would have lost momentum and fizzled out. Just my thoughts. 3 Likes |

Dude has been consistent with this detribalization thing and even did a 20k monthly giveaway for the most detribalized poster in politics section a while back and he delivered. Long story short, as far as I can tell from his post history, he's legit. The bigger issue is how to set up acceptable guidelines/rules for this 100k year-end giveaway for the most detribalized poster in this thread. Final word - Be slow to post and be quick to dig. Kog45: Elder, you are obsessed with the past and have exaggerated nostalgic ratings of the 80's and 90's commentators/sports anchors. I do not think the nicknames given to Nigerian players by Ernest Okonkwo reflected his intelligence. I'll opine that it was due to patriotism and nationalistic fervour, and were an exaggeration and overhype of the players talent and football abilities. 1 Like |
