Hismasterpiece:

so doing business in Nigeria isn't easy? how do you mean?

how does insecurity affect the country's currency value

doesn't nigeria export oil among other things?

Insecurity = No FDI...or foreign direct investment.

Say for example, you have a house where you sell goods. But on the next street, there is a house where the tenants are much. So you decide to start selling your goods in that house.
But the problem is every time you send your worker to the place, they get robbed or killed...and you make losses.

Now, in this analogy, you are the seller from a foreign country, the house on the other street is Nigeria. The money and goods you take to the other house is the FDI...your workers getting robbed constantly is the insecurity

how do you apply for job in UAE or already have the job b4 u leave 9ja?

You can apply and look for jobs in UAE but you must consider these Four things:

1) The people or person you through which you came into the country. (For me, it was my agent).

2) Those you surround yourself with when in the country. The people in my accommodation were top guys who kept giving me job links.

3) How much you're determined to get a job and get started. First place I worked in this country was as a cleaner at a restaurant. I wasn't picky. I applied for several jobs I'd have considered beneath me if I was in naija. I forgot about my Psychology degree and applied for every job that was beneath me.

4) Luck and God's grace.

I did not leave naija with an offer. Came in January on 3 months VIsa. Spent the first month searching online and applying for jobs.

I got one at a restaurant in Dubai where I worked for about 2 weeks. The owner said she was just test running and there was no chef so i should go back to my old accommodation to wait for her call. She wasted my time and didn't pay me a dime except 20aed to take the metro back to Ajman where i used to stay.

I got information about a conpany hiring, so I applied and they sent me a message to come for interview. I went for it, passed and got a job designation that had double the pay of the position I applied for. Now, I have my Emirates ID. I'm settled and already lookinh forward to upgrade once my probation period with this company is over.

I've been reading UAE hard, here and there all through the thread. UAE is not abroad this, and that. Granted it's not abroad but it's where I am currently and where I work I earn a minimum of 2k aed...even though it's the regular 9hrs plus 3 hrs overtime. It's not much, but for someone who came into the country 6 months ago and only started working a month and a half ago with zero UAE work experience, it is something. It's a platform to build on for better jobs in future.
The truth that I've discovered about moving to a different country, based on my own and other's experience, is that a lot depends on your attitude, drive, willingness to succeed and your worldview.

Nothing is handed to you abroad. You must earn every dime and even work more than you're paid..But the beautiful thing is opportunities abound if your attitude is right and your focus is steady.

You guys need to wake up and applaud any initiative that supports the growth of the country. They make a lot of money from Nigeria.A lot,if in doubt ask how much Linda makes from ads daily, and that's just a tip of the iceberg compared to Facebook, insta,Twitter etc.

Thanks to our population and china /asia not letting their people trade with such platforms,Nigeria contributes a significant amount in dollars to their revenue.Someone should Please bring the figures and rate in comparison to other countries and regions.

This is the right step from Nigeria.Tax any income they generate from Nigeria.Any money that goes out from Nigerian accounts to them as payment for services must be tracked and taxed, vat first then systems to collect other taxes e.g must be thought of creatively .Naija is doing that already.e.g operating liscence, registration etc

They can tax Linda because unlike the likes of Instagram, Tiktok, etc...she has a physical presence in Nigeria (not just virtual). Linda conducts direct business in Nigeria; hence, she can be taxed. Tell me, how do you get Twitter, facebook, IG and the rest to comply with your tax laws when they have no physical interest or assets in Nigeria?

The example you mentioned above is simply passing the cost on to the users of their services. That's not taxing the companies. You guys should stop this wilful idiocy. It's annoying

Oga join and follow the rule of the country or get booted out.
The laws are simple as states "In Nigeria, according to the Finance Act 2019, a company will pay taxes if it “transmits, emits or receives signals, sounds, messages, images or data of any kind by cable, radio, electromagnetic systems, or any other electronic or wireless apparatus to Nigeria in respect of any activity, including electronic commerce, application store, high-frequency trading, electronic data storage, online adverts, participative network platform, online payments and so on, to the extent that the company has significant economic presence in Nigeria and profit can be attributable to such activity.

“If the trade or business comprises the furnishing of technical, management, consultancy or professional services outside of Nigeria to a person resident in Nigeria to the extent that the company has significant economic presence in Nigeria” .

You no get sense. You're making tax laws for organisations that have zero physical presence in your country. How does this make sense to you?

Silly idiots pontificating and doing what silly idiots do best. You know which African country can tax a gaint tech company like Twitter presently? Ghana.

When we say make policies that are investor friendly. When we say put the country in a position where they can take advantage of any form of global interest from local and foreign investors, this is what we mean.

Once they come in with huge money to invest in the country, taxing them will be easier than ABC.

But na lie. Buhari and co will rather die on the hill of cattle economics

Pls guys, I need recommendations on any country I can travel to with 1.5 m to hustle more. I was considering turkey or cyprus. Pls advise me and also you can tell me about any other countries too. Am a graduate and am also a hustler who can adapt.

Thanks

1.5m will get you into UAE...but you have to be willing to start from the absolute scratch, bro. Also, this isn't really the right time to come to UAE for hustle. They're approaching their Desert months...everywhere will be intensely hot, business patronage won't be high and as such most businesses won't be looking to hire.
I know because I've been on ground for half a year now.
The best route, although it's not easy is to come, go for security course in Dubai, get the license and use it to get security work in companies like transguard and G4S security.
This one sef get comma in the sense that you could be in their accommodation for months without deployment or salary. But if it clicks...bro, you'll be a boss...You could be earning as much as 2,400aed depending on how many offs you take in a month.

A sponsor is not always needed. It is a tourist visa not a work visa after all.

I took the liberty of doing some research on Dubai Tourist visas and I was right.

Howbeit, my statement was a blanket statement for agents generally irrespective of the country being travelled to or what the mission of the travel is for (tourism, study, work, "japaism" ).

I don't like arguing too much. Even on the visit Visa, there's always a sponsor listed. You can only argue against this if you've never had anything to do with UAE VISA. Sponsors are absolutely necessary (if you're not from certain countries) due to the way UAE have structured their VISA requirements. Otherwise, do you think people wouldn't have sidestepped agents when trying to get visa into the country.

dochenaj:
I don't see why someone would need an agent.

Take your time study the process, and do it for yourself.

Most agents don't really do anything special for your travel process.

You clearly don't know how Dubai visa processing works. To get a Visa into Dubai, you need a sponsor i.e. someone who is a valid resident in the country (this is mostly companies or locals). This is where agents come in. They interface between you, the "local" who's ready to stand as sponsor and the visa procurement process. In the case of Dubai, agents are actually very necessary...unless you have a direct family member here already that can stand as your sponsor.
Travel / Re: Best Place To Stay In UAE As A Nigerian Tourist Or Immigrant by teelaw4life(m): 9:43am On May 15, 2021
That point about Ajman is misplaced and wrong. I've been in UAEnso far for 5 months and four of those were spent living in Ajman. Apart from having the luck of coming in through an extremely good agent (he also lives in Ajman), I can say the state is one of the most relatively laid-back and vibrant among the states. Not once did I encounter people who'd fallen into the hands of scammer agents from Ajman. In fact, the only guy I met was a dude whose agent in Nigeria scammed him 2 million for 90 days visit visa and immediately he got into Dubai, the agent cancelled the VIsa.
I've been to places like Sharjah, Deira and Al Barsha in Dubai and zi can tell you there are more crooked Nigerians (agents and more) in those places than in Ajman. Please don't mislead people. If I hadn't lived there, I'd have believed you.

Also, you clearly don't know some things but are too obstinate to learn from others. That's not a good sign of a good teacher. Saying transportation in Abu Dhabi is better than Dubai? I'm just going to chill, bro. Others have pointed it out already.

Apart from all that, you're correct on the others.

Atiku just ran to Dubai to take the covid-19 vaccine
Anambra State Governor Willy Obiano and wife are presently in Houston to take the covid-19 vaccine, the wife already took hers and they are waiting for the Governors turn, they are going to spend a month plus to take the complete dose...

You know what that means? because they hold American Citizenships reason they were allowed to take it, can you op do the same with the money you have in Nigeria? When will Nigeria get the vaccines to get to the poor masses the Governor and the wife left in Anambra state...
When the Vaccine is finally procured by Nigeria government, do you think poor masses will have access to it? Nigeria will start selling the vaccines to the highest bidder and the rich, but in the countries you mentioned every one gets a vaccine without stress.

Do you remember that little girl that survived the Sosoliso plane crash in PortHarcourt that Pastor Bimbo Odukoya died in? The little girl lives in America, saved by hospitals in America (Nigeria could not), she went to America Got Talent and is doing pretty well in US, do you think Nigeria would have given her reason to live and be happy again?

Okonjo Iweala achieved all what she is today in US, Chinua Achebe left Nigeria and never came back until his death, why? He had a road accident Ni that got him paralyzed (Nigeria could not handle his case) and he was flown to US and his life saved but remained on a wheelchair yet he still taught in the University sitting on a wheelchair.

There is difference between hell on earth and heaven on earth. And you know the one Nigeria belongs to.

Aside this my contribution, you used your data well to sample opinion.

Are you minding him? I hate the lewd romance some Nigerians often have with the pervasive mediocrity and poverty that's rife in Nigeria. Poverty porn.

Politics / Re: Why Jungle Justice Should Stop Immediately In Nigeria. by teelaw4life(m): 8:23pm On Dec 10, 2020
I have not read the op's writeup but I can already tell you that jungle justice will not and will never syop until our broken justice system is fixed.
There's a topic currently on front page about the house of rep second reading a bill to put a deadline on criminal and civil court cases. This would be a nice step in the right direction.

The other thing to fix is the corrupt police institution.
Let's say citizens apprehend a criminal who has commited a dastardly crime and they hand him to the police...and then in a few days the criminal is back on the streets walking as a free man and threatening those who apprehended him all because he could bribe the police. How would the people act the nect time they apprehend another criminal? Jungle justice of course.
Unfortunately, Nigeria's government has failed to provide a lot of what it takes to run a nation successfully. Hence our failing nation tag.
When this happens, it creates space for people to take matters into their hands. In the case of our rubbish justice system, the people take matters into their hands through jungle justice.
