Messi equally works hard, dude is damn good.
Evra hasn't played alongside Messi so he can't make a fair comparison in this case.
He simply loves Ronaldo more.

Weldone Kid.
JAMB is BS, never marked objectively..
Expected 290+ when I wrote DBT in 2014 but ended up with 226.
Wrote OAU PUTME and had 290 to gain merit admission into Chemical engineering, OAU.
My waec wasn't half as good (3A's).
So any doubts based on that JAMB is invalid for all I care..

No...
The facilities on ground have failed to meet the demands of the teeming population.
Some people leave their homes 5am, 6am and still can't get it done, either a singular computer system has to cater to tens of thousands of people OR service not available.
I checked at some Banks and most stopped registration just before the lockdown.

If network providers have the facilities, maybe NIMC should draft them in.
Otherwise the deadline isn't feasible

Nice thread

Books on how to meet people.
How to make friends and influence people Dale Carnegie
How to talk to anyone Leil Lowndes

Books on building your mind.
James Allen Collections
Napoleon Hill Collections.

Sacred books on wisdom and understanding life.
Proverbs(God's perspective of life), Ecclesiastes (Man's perspective of life) and Songs of Solomon (God and man's perspective of love and romance) all by King Solomon.

Motivational books if you like them too.

Books are really good, they provoke your thinking which eventually results in a pleasurable life.

Nairaland / General / This Life No Balance! by teemanbastos(m): 8:57pm On Aug 27, 2020
This life no balance!

By the time person eyes dun open, the whole world dun enter third lap, dem con classify us as third world country.
This life no balance, Kylian Mbappe is just 20 years old and earns £ 1.2 Millions per month, that same age group to which I belong to in my kantry is still waiting for ASUU to call off strike so schools can reopen, the lucky ones dey manage £ 72 (10nk God for our tarty tiri K, iya Basira's amala has suffer).
This life no balance, some countries dun commot earth dey go moon, some dey live for the atmosphere sef, my country still dey struggle fill potholes for road.
This life no balance, PhD and MSc holders in yankee dey write books, dey work for NASA, in my country PhD holders dey hustle 20K jobs.
This life no balance, countries wey we gada get independence dun become importer and exporter, my country dey celebrate inauguration of boreholes.
This life no balance, leaders of dem other countries dey give aids to the tunes of billions of dollars, for my country lecturers, doctors still dey fight government, dey strike over unpaid benefits.
This life no balance abeg.

I con reason baba G,
'for my next life no put me for Nigeria o' ,
baba G reply - 'ok wish granted!'
Baba G con bring out map, 'oya which continent you want?'
'Antarctica sef dey alright',
as I talk am, I see sey no be only me dey reason that way. How I take sabi na wen Baba G show me the prototype of the next life, I shock, 90% of Nigerians sef no wan gree come this Nigeria again.
For next life, ein sure me sey na Nigerians go full Antarctica, we go dun get fur like polar bears, may we no freeze begin dey attack tithes and offerings.
I reason my current situation again, 'which kin gbege be dis na, Baba G, Life no balance o I swear. See yankee na, see us. why na?'
Almighty BabaG wey get all the wisdom con give me reply 'The grass always appears greener on the other side'
See me, see BabaG o, BabaG dey follow me speak grammar, dis life no balance I swear. Me wey dey reason sey BabaG go just forget like 1 milla for my account, na green grass Baba dey talk.

As BabaG no gree give me cash, na word i collect, dat word con inspire my common sense and I started to think like a Londoner - - - - - When we look at our current situations and juxtapose(compare)it with what we see, we tend to think that what we see is better than where we are.
It's an illusion, all is. You think having more stuffs will make you more happy, it doesn't - it only appears it will.
Giving a poor man few thousands of naira will probably change his present circumstances, maybe get him a bike and prolong the strength of his legedes or afford him a decent meal of pizza and sprite - which is awesome by the way! But it gets to a point that more money provides little or no addition to existing happiness. You get a job and see your first paycheck of N100 000 and feel on top of the world, after you get promoted and earn a payrise of say N 150 000 or N400 000, at this stage, an increased paycheck will add little happiness, this works the same way for everything. If you are into academics, having a BSc degree is wonderful, having your second and third and fourth doesn't add so much happiness to you but it is an ornament when you become a VC.
Summarily, More doesn't necessarily mean more happiness or more respect or more love or more biscuits or even more shawarmas .----

Let's leave London with its law of diminishing returns and come back..
"It's a harsh reality that better material circumstances doesn't necessarily mean a better life" - well said Mr common sense but that's horseshit!, replied Mr 9ja.
Let's have the better material circumstances first and see for ourselves if that's true!
Wealth is vanity, Poverty is vanity…. But I've chosen my vanity - wealth.
May we dey inside Bugatti dey reflect better pas may we dey trek dey reflect abi? Levels dey to vanity.
Let's get to experience lives ourselves is the reality of Nigerian yoots.

Yahoo boys.
A boy is born into a family, he is left to the community to be taken care of, after hawking and selling yams, he makes some money to go to school - then he sees guys who grew up in the same streets as he does living in flashy houses.
Boy vex, how dem take do am! He's still struggling to buy necessary textbooks in school, life circumstances is hard. He's got to do something. He's got to wise up. Dis Life, have money o!
He is driven to meet these guys who teach him how to chat with people in America, alot of people in developed America are lonely, they need companionship(to these set of americans, life sef no balance, how can everyone aff boyfren and life is leaving them lonely?)
.. so our Nigerian guys chats them up and gives them companionship,- you tink sey he easy to dey call and check up on someone everyday? Our Nigerian guys have plenty of time and sweetness to give, American guys have plenty of money to give…. boom! supply and demand: even John Keynes sabi sey no economics make sense pas dese!

Sometimes these online relationships go on to become sumtin big, you see wonderful wonders like a 12 yr old boy gettin marry-ed to a 85 yr old woman - my broda, what can we say? who we be? no man can explain the workings of love.

So our young nigga hammers and the next time you see him, he dun dey ride benz, baba dun get house for lekki and banana island, hustle dun pay off, maga dun pay - dem dey contribute dier quota to Making America Great Again© - which maga pas dis one?

E no easy, after all dose years of struggle, everything dun soft. Our guy takes to the club and balls all his friends and mentors, if he has a talent in singing! Gbedu dun land, Ijo Ope!!
EFCC begin dey disturb, SARS sef dey disturb!
Why una dey disturb us na? 'Because una never setlle us, no be only una sabi chop life, we sef sabi chop life too'. Some bosses level sef pas the one wey EFCC dey handle, Na FBI and Interpol dey on top dier matter.

Meanwhile, another guy from Adam still dey do ein own freelance on Fiverr, dey design websites, dey write contents, 'i don't do illegal, i do it legal' yes sir! legal is it.
The guy head get grace, ein dey see few dolls from gigs, just enough to live a comfortable life and take his gelfren out to watch Lion King. Thank Jah!

The ones wey no use internet dey sell bags, wristwatches, knowledge, facemasks, clothes, soaps, recharge cards, earpiece, iPhone… 'please help me put this on your status', 'please help rebc'
Some confident ones wey wan do am the old-fashioned way enter farm. Alaye double your Hustle! Ji Masun!

If Popsy rich, Momsy hold bar, Popsy dey work for government, Momsy na commissioner.
The child no suppose get too much struggles be that, just go school and read books, if salary still make sense when we convert am to pounds and dollars, yankee dun sure be that, just pas GRE. Life soft. I yam now Americana.
You graduate, if you sabi wella, NASA go retain you or if na Economics you read, Wall Street dun set. But if na song you wan sing, you go port come back our one and only 9ja, your parents dun get connections already, just press d button- everything dun set, oya pheelz d producer, over to you. Issagoal!

At all at all na im bad pass, you go see scholarship wey go give you raba on top sey you dey 5 points - even Lebron no fit rival you or may you enter Russia go read Medicine.

In this life, we must make it...

..
What drives us all in life is we want to enjoy the good things of life, not everyone is interested in having $ 200 billions of net worth as JB, what we all want is the fulfillment of our heart desires, whatever ways we choose to make that happen, Bon Chance!

When we were all like 6 years old, we all had these big fantasies in our heads… from primary school to secondary school to ile eko giga (university), we no even factor masters and PhD, life never hard reach dat level when we dey construct our dream life.
After university, find one beautiful girl (tall, slim, works in chevron, has long hair, smells nice, loves football, likes to travel,..., mother-in-isreal on the outside, nicki minaj in the house… bla bla bla or even plan to marry the beautiful Chiamaka who sat next to you in Kindergarten 0.5 and invite all the presidents in the world to your wedding. If you're reading this, have you now married her after you no allow us hear word? Hehehe), then marry her and have like 1 million beautiful children in a very big house and live happily after.

Childhood is awesome! Gave us the chance to fantasize as much as we wanted. Fantasize or daydream in adulthood and all you receive is a resounding slap from your co-workers or just a drum of water over your face if they're nice enough(this actually happens in nollywood, ayam yet to seen a real live tiktok vid).

In reality, life doesn't go as it is planned, everybody has plans and if everyone were to have his way the same time, that would really be crazy! example is when all Lagos working class boys n girls close from work by 4pm and decide to go home in their cars - my advice if that's your first day at work, just make sure you have a working Netflix subscription and buy some popcorns from the canteen - or heed the words of your egungun who is shouting to you to be careful, na express of holdup you dey go!

That's the kind of situation we would actually have If everyone were to have all wishes granted the same time.
So while your wish is not being granted, someone else's been granted. Chillax and drink water, at all at all na im bad pass, life no balance, dat one mean sey may you no drink water? Buy Gala join abeg, balance am with pepsi.
No kill yourself.

Life is like this football game, we can read every article by the best pundits in sports and even put on our betslip or over 9.7 as we wish. But the football game itself turns out randomly in its own form, it can go any way. Because it can go anyway is why everyone prepares so hard to bear whatever comes, like Neymar strolling into the 2020 UCL final game with a big speaker just to receive a silver medal. My G, even to receive silver medal in this life no eeeee-zzzzzz.

If Life no balance, Na Life, Life na Boss on its own. Life fit wake up tomorrow con vex balance everything wey no balance, may ein bring trump con 9ja carry Buhari go US. wetin we wan do, na Life na?
Hushpuppi dun do ein own, all the money wey he collect, no be sey he pound am use am chop ogbono, na still on top the people he collect am from he spend am for.
Yahoo boys dey collect money from yankee dey spend am for 9ja, because e no reach you no mean may you lose your peace, no hate anyone, na d hustle o. Dem no strong reach you, e get y.
Baby collect care, education from guardians, become adult con use all the money wey ein dun get take care of the guardians.
All dese tories na to tell you sey life dey balance itself.
No vex sey anybody corrupt again, because na dem dey reap the consequences na,no be you. nothing fit do you if you do no one nothing.
Just do your own, Baba G go answer your call someday, no be only you dey call.
If this life wey you come no balance for you, e go balance for the next one.
If we begin dey vex for Buhari dey call am names, dey vex sey life hard, at the end of the vexing, wetin we gain?
Life dey balance itself.
If life balance, na temporary and if e no balance, na still temporary. No manual dey to dis phenomenon called life, e get y.

Ultimately, in life we are all becoming a better version of ourselves daily in our own peculiar ways.
Live Life. Love Life. Be true to you.

This satirical piece was compiled by Tim Adetolu, the inspirations came from the Nigerian social media space.

Nothing do you o my reader. . Dey shine go.

How does one get to enjoy living in Nigeria?
Nairaland / General / Life Is Good, And You Are Good Too by teemanbastos(m): 12:12pm On Aug 22, 2020
Thoughts and Idea rule the physical world, the physical world runs on feelings.
We think a lot of things as men but only when we have a full feeling behind it can whatever we think translate to reality : that's why love is such a great thing. The woman is happy to direct the totality of her feelings to an object (the thought) of the man and bam! You have whatever it is you want appear to you in reality.

Everything has its price, a lot of people love visibility, fame and being known, there's a big price behind that, one in which only the famous, visible and rich know.
Contentment is indeed a very nice virtue because it's actually when you get into a situation that you understand what is really involved, on the outside it looks fabulous but on the inside, you have to deal with whatever you see. I'm not a fan of the Nigerian tertiary educational system, unnecessarily too hard a life! But I remembered being the happiest person when I saw the admission letter, I got in and had to deal with whatever I faced stoically.
You want to spend money like the rich, great! What you actually want is feeling rich and having the happy attitude rich people exhibit when they spray money at parties, the thing is you can actually exhibit that attitude in your house amongst your family and friends = the same happiness.
Life is humorous, the famous are not even freaked a bit by the fame they possess, could be a burden at times to them - it is the fans of the famous that are actually freaked. It is just what life is.

In this life, some people have been given one talent (which is the gift of life), some have been given two talents ( gift of life + love or wisdom or fame or riches), some have been given five talents (gift of life + wisdom + love + riches + every good thing in life).
Accept your life for what it is, it will save you much troubles and worries. Enjoy and use what you have. People are unhappy because they have what they have now not because they want it deep down but because they want to fit in, now they have to maintain what they don't like - now that's hard! Easy to maintain what is real but hard to maintain what is fake.

Life is good when you accept reality for what it is. I'm not a footballer, I retired when my big toe was fractured in a very hot game in Js3 (haha), so no matter the huge rewards footballers receive I'm not moved, i cannor come and kill myself, I've accepted the fact that I'm not a footballer. Meanwhile Messi is the Greatest Of All Times (that's why he graciously found himself playing in a match that showed he 8-2 feel too highly of his capabilities : we appreciate our highs when we are low, Leo Messi does too)

Everyone experiences the same range of feelings you experience, some of us just bone face to appear tough. we experience pain, pleasure, disappointments and everything emotion life brings, whether we ride in flashy cars or use nice tech gadgets, it doesn't change that, all happiness is within you.

Everything you don't have today, you will have tomorrow. Calm down! Plus if you are not enjoying the present moment you have, how will you enjoy the moments to come?

You are already in this life already, whether you like icecream but find yourself drinking garri does not matter, whether you like to fly but find yourself trekking it doesn't matter, whether you prefer living in White House and find yourself in Nigeria does not matter, you've been born where you've been born, you've been born into where you've born into, accept yourself and your situation in peace. No one is ashamed of you, you only think so. No one is intimidated by you, you only think so. Because it's your life and your life only.
Be at Peace with yourself.

Enjoy whatever life throws you, if it throws lemons at you, you can make lemonade out of it if you wish,in my case I'm not a blender so I guess I'll throw the lemons back and wait for bananas. I prefer bananas.

Life is good.
And you are GOOD!

2023 Presidential Choices should be based purely on previous performances, personal capacity, national appeal and one who is truly Nigerian at heart.
If we see reality for what it is, we'll see that only few politicians are qualified for the presidency.

Family / Re: At 23 Years Old, I Have No Idea What I Am Doing With My Life by teemanbastos(m): 6:12pm On Aug 06, 2020
YoungandDepress:
My story is quite a sad and long one.
I wish I could write it all out. My life has been a terrible mess.
Where did it go wrong for me, I have no idea.

I am writing with so much emotion, my heart is full and heavy.
Life is bitter.

I am a 23 years old guy.
My life all started to go in the negative direction when I gained admission at age 16.
A 16 years old boy in the university, so much freedom and exposure.
I messed up my life, I became addicted to bet9ja virtual gambling I lost focus, Gambling killed me, I started failing exams, at the end I dropped out without my parents Knowing, but the truth came out when I was supposed to graduate, I could not hide it anymore. I told them the truth, my parents forgave me like the prodigal son.

They still believed in me especially my mom, she keeps reminding me of how intelligent I used to be.

Well I'm not here to talk about my past life but here to talk about how it is still affecting me today.

Ever since I started university all over again, I have been miserable and frustrated. Nothing has been working in my favour. I'm currently now in 200level hoping to graduate before 25.
All my mates I started with have done their NYSC.

I'm still stuck in the same stage.
I have no idea what I am doing with my life. I'm young, broke and depressed. I get irritated over little things. I feel disgust at how I uselessed my youthful life. How gambling destroyed me.

By the grace of whichever god exists, I am no longer addicted to gambling. I have quit the addiction for almost a year now but nothing changed, I still feel miserable. I hate having people around me even my family members including my mom.

I have no true friends. Nobody checks on me, nobody calls me.

At this age, I can't boast of having 500 naira in my account.
I'm broke and miserable.

I have started hating God and question my belief in God. I hate Sunday's. I hate hearing about God, I don't blame God for my troubles but I'm angry at the fact that despite my parents being dedicated Christians, things are not working well in my family.
My elder ones are graduates, but no solid job yet.

Only my eldest brother who is doing quite well now and I thank God for his life but we don't talk. I can't remember the last time I called him on phone. They don't hate me, I hate myself.
I have disappointed them a lot.

I just lost the last #1000 I had in my life today and I cried. The money fell out my pocket when I went to get something.

At 23 years, I have no idea what I will do with my future.
I still live with my parents and I have never rented an apartment of my own even in school.

What is wrong with me, why am I miserable?

I have no good clothes. My clothes are all worn out.
I have nothing doing, i live off my parents.

Since schools were shut down, I have been at home doing nothing.
Completely broke, damaged and miserable.

Can my life be any better. What do I do. I am depressed.
I keep asking myself these questions but there
Seem to be no answer.

Many have felt like this at some point in their lives with no direction, you're not alone. Before their lives suddenly turned around for good.
Most times, they end up being great people. Napoleon Hill, Barack Obama.... etc
Well, I guess things are about to get better for you soonest.
And trust me if you eventually pull through this, you will be unstoppable in life.
Keep on! Your creator has not forgotten you.
Blessings.

Pets / Re: Have You Been Chased By A Dog Before? Share Your Experience. by teemanbastos(m): 12:18pm On Jul 31, 2020
Ejenavi18:
My experience was was a funny one.
It happened last year, I travelled to spend my holiday with a close family friend.
I arrived there at night, the dogs (a rottweiler, GSD and a pup) welcomed my arrival with barking as usual with strangers, but she managed to calm them down, we went inside and I settled in..

Well the next morning, the dogs gave me the greatest scare of my life that I still smile each time I remember it. I was in the sitting room when I noticed that the dogs where hitting on the burglary proof just outside the house (didn't know that the dogs could actually remove the pad lock themselves once it's unlocked).
I saw through the window that the dogs have already passed the burgary proof and heading towards the main door which was slightly opened. I got up from the chair I was sitting on and ran to close the door fully so they won't get inside. JJC like me didn't know that the dogs knew their way around the house, they went to look for another entrance-the kitchen door!

I was heaving a sigh of relief thinking the dogs were gone only for me to open my eyes and I saw them right in front of me. I was scared and surprised at the same time that I began shouting at the top of my voice, aaaaahhhh! and the whole family came running from their various rooms thinking the dogs had bitten me already. Those dogs nearly gave me a heart attack that day, they were actually fierce-looking especially the rott with her intimidating size.

I later bonded with the dogs and we became friends, they even welcomed me each time I came back from my outings.
hahaha.. I can imagine your face when you suddenly saw them in front of you grin grin grin

NewDelhi:
When it comes to use of cane, belt, etc, they stopped when I was 12-13.

But physical fight continued till 19-20. Generally when a child clocks 14 and above or when puberty sets in he begins to feel he's above flogging. That's why you try to flog some kids and they hold the cane or restrict you from flogging then.. . I don follow my papa fight gidigbo before... E stubborn with him outdated mentality me sef I stubborn with my newage mentality.

From 21 to over 30 years now we just shout at each other on the phone when there's any disagreement.

Generally I think this African idea of flogging or physically assaulting a child is pure stupidity and inhumane. If you raise a child like an animal, then expect him to behave like an animal. Children like that end up being child abusers and wife beaters. There are different ways to correct a child, physical assault shouldn't be an option.

Stop promoting abusive parenting, kids that went through such will also want to use same method on their own kids too and the cycle continues.

Politics / Which State Embodies The Nigerian Spirit The Most? by teemanbastos(m): 2:04pm On Jul 05, 2020
Happy Sunday Nairalanders.
I was thinking, and this came to my mind.
Which state do you think embodies the Nigerian spirit the most and why ?
it's by sharing these amongst ourselves that we can truly appreciate our diversities.
Nairaland / General / Do 'black Lives Matter'? by teemanbastos(m): 1:15pm On Jun 20, 2020
Do 'Black Lives Matter'?

Why are we having this discussion ?

An African-American Man, George Floyd died from medical complications induced by a policeman (may his soul RIP). This sparked tensions and has resulted in protests from the Black community, it caught my attention since I am a black myself tho' my black is still learning besides Kenyan belle Lupita Nyong'o.
I am a human being fortunate enough to be endowed with a black skin and I by skin tonation belong to the black nation worldwide.

So are white-skinned people superior to black-skinnned people?

The reason we appreciate the whites so much in our modern world is because of the excellent lifestyle they have adopted - glassy high-rise buildings, highly developed societies, top-notch facilities, luxurious collections, smart educational facilities. If there's a reality like an ideal world, it's embodied by them.
We are awed by the achievements of the white - they are a modern wonder.

Juneteenth (June 19) is a US holiday that celebrates the end of slavery dated back from 1865 - it is quite a symbolic event because it broke the notion that white-skinned humans were unequal to black-skinned humans.

How did slavery survive in the first place?
Slavery survived on mutual grounds between whites and blacks.
The white men came into a dark continent whose inhabitants saw the birth of twins as taboo, believed that thunderstorms were expressions of the wrath of gods and believed in gods inhabiting material things, the adventurous white men stumbled on the continent with their mirrors, powders, medicines, parchments and their succulent white skins.
This sight intrigued the blacks(our forefathers).

The kings of the blacks(shamen or priests) in turn exchanged their servants for these things - mirrors, gunpowders and even lands containing precious stones. [these priests had never seen mirrors in their lives, having their images being reflected to them was so intriguing, they valued it immensely and exchanged their servants readily for them]

So, the slave business was birthed and grew greatly - not so profitable for the slaves on the short run since their feelings were ignored but ended up being profitable on the long run, their children's children ended up being grafted into the countries they were sold into - the biblical Joseph being an example, eventually becoming a prime minister in a foreign country.
Blacks today have become a major lubricant in the wheel driving great developments in white-propietored nations today.

Back to the question, are white-skinned people superior?

Color is just is. A green-colored apple is not necessarily sweeter than a brown-colored apple. What determines the sweetness has got to be its content not skin color. The color is an ornament.

Intelligence is what accounts for superiority not skin color. Intelligence in this sense is broader than IQ, emotional intelligence or even our intelligence agencies.
Intelligence encompasses all of those - it is the ability of man to think, and to take productive actions that will ultimately result in tangible developments.
I'm referring to the Intelligence that separates man from animals.

Civilization started from Africa.
Yes - from people with black skins.
It wasn't about the skin, it was about the quality of Intelligence possessed.

The wonder of the ancient world - the pyramids of Egypt -was built by black people.
Where did the prototype, architectural designs come from? It came from the minds of black-skinned people.

The Wealthiest king of ancient times - King Solomon the great who annually received over 666 talents of gold (~22 tonnes worth about $ 1.3bn today) from giftings alone throughout his 40-year reign was black-skinned.
He was highly emotionally intelligent that women of royal calibre fell for him in their thousands- his son (Menelik I), from his relationship with the Queen of Sheba(Balikis) became the first Emperor of Ethiopia.

The Intelligent Israelis of today were once slaves of the black-skinned Egyptians before Moses himself trained by the intelligence of the blacks, liberated his people and took them to where they are today. .

Black-skinned people have always and will always possess tremendous amounts of intelligence and power.

History is cyclical, if the black-skinned people were geniuses at a time, there need be a baton switch to other categories of people, so the baton switched to the white-skinned people and they have mastery of the modern world today by virtue of their Intelligence.

It's just like the earth rotating the sun, there is day and night. So is it with everything in life.

Tomorrow, the blacks will become masters of the world again and this writing will appear puzzling to coming generations who would find it hard to believe that Africa was ever a dark continent based on how ultra-developed their world would have become by then.

Right thinking and intelligence is not color-selective.
Anybody can cultivate it.

Being Human is vital to a meaningful life and cultivating values makes one so, values are not race-selective.

Thought and ideas rule the world, to change external circumstances, change your thoughts.

Whether All lives matter or All lives do not matter. It depends on your outlook and how you see the world.

I'm a Black Pacifist and believe in Peace.

Do you know that Man wasn't created for toils and 'eating bread from the sweat of the face', he was created to 'tend and dress the earth'.

We don't necessarily need more hard jobs to have a fantastic life.

Enough of sweating, toiling, struggling! It's time to get back to the divine design - to change hardbiting situations.

knowledge is the key.

If people know fraudulent activities would bring painful consequences at the end, they wouldn't indulge in it.
But alas, they take impulsive actions based on what they see, they want to ride the latest rides, build the best houses and travel to choicest locations in small time.
They indeed follow on their intentions and get the cash by hook or crook, buy all the above, showcase them and even seduce inexperienced online proteges.

But life cannot be cheated, what ever comes cheaply will go cheaply! the price is paid in a harder way.

No successful person or business made their fortunes in a day. It took industry, patience and diligence backed up by deep knowledge.

Success is dependent on industry and patience NOT by fraud. Take the time, when you become successful, it will be worth it.

We should never be in haste for anything, haste is an illusion. Whether you prosper at 10 or at 60 doesn't matter.
Infact, the thinking that being successful or having a lot of material possessions is the end of life struggles isn't true.
The richest still face struggles - maybe not physical but mental and emotional.

All Struggles in life are abated by Spiritual awareness - 'he/she is lucky or fortunate when at any point in his/her life, whatever he/she asks for from God, he gets'

Spiritual awareness is it.

If work isn't fulfilling, then it's time to sit back and reflect, because 'tending and dressing the earth' is meant to be a fulfilling experience not a struggle.

The most valuable things costs.

The Fraudulent always end up being defrauded by life.

The Benevolent always end up being blessed by life.

Nairaland / General / How I Succeeded - Timothy Adetolu by teemanbastos(m): 12:44pm On Jun 06, 2020
If a man knows what he wants in this life, then he's never going to work a day in his life....

I am a fan of the United States Entertainment industry and admire their music, movies and talkshows, when I go on youtube and check their stuffs, I'm amazed at the number of views their videos amass, from tens of millions to billions! Like billions - 1 000 000 000 - 9 zeros! Incredible. The whole world is really feeling these guys!

And I'm like, boy this is amazing! These guys have so much positive vibes and energy that infects the whole world who always can't wait to see them perform and pay them a fortune!
See as youths are celebrating the return of football? After being subjected to over 2 months dry fasting! Coro ooo give me a break!

Then I found the answer behind all of these! These guys are doing what they love doing - that's why they are so full of energy!
Musk builds cars and rockets effortlessly and spends over 80 hours a week working on them - because he loves it!
Rihanna spends her time singing and practicing the rudiments of music effortlessly with so much limitless energy - because music is her life!
Trump! That guy is the only guy in my lifetime that I have seen with such unlimited energy - like how many 73 year olds have that boundless energy? - dude works about 19 hours a day! Gets by with 3 to 4 hours sleep and even has enough time to tweet! - because building great buildings and leading is his life, he absolutely loves doing all those!
Cristiano Ronaldo trains harder than anything - dude loves football with passion! - although LIONEL MESSI is my GOAT! I never see who go settle this matter who good pass out of two of them sha?!

Same for every of these successful guys! - they love what they do, the hardwork they put in is more or less an hobby! And they get rewarded big for their outputs! Their outputs are energetic and damn positive!

All of the above are multimillionaires and billionaires! When we see their snapshots on IG, Facebook.. We drool!
We all wanna wear what they put on to identify with their positive vibes - that's why companies pay these celebs big to appear on their products! Their vibes sell.

* * *

I love to be free-spirited and I love everything associated with pure joy! Brings splendid feelings. I've got a lot of energy and great ideas too.
But I had some struggles early on!

Starting out in the world where I grew in was crazy mehn! It's hard on a young guy to see criticisms and negative vibes being traded so easily! The feelings of self doubt tend to creep in, you've just got to be positive and confident of who you are!

I studied engineering in school - chemical engineering! I wanted petroleum engineering at first because back then at 15, petroleum engineers appeared to live the good life I desired! Earned in $ US Dollars, buy whatever you want, live the life you want..

But I did get some good advice, chemical Engineering was broader and so I went for it! I wrote this Jamb Dual Based Test in 2014, i expected 296 or something, but I ended up with 226 (i couldn't believe it) - If I see Prof Dibu Ojerinde, I'm still gonna ask him how that happened!

I had some knowledge of maths and chemistry and reasoned that I could cope in the university (Oba Awon University) . I did cope! Infact I set a goal of finishing with a 4.0 GPA, I got lucky i finished with a 4.1 instead.

But you know what guys? I had little interests in Chemical engineering! Hahaha! I discovered that midway into the course.
Mehn! Maybe if I really had some interests, I would have finished with 4.9! But that stage is gone anyways!

I wasn't exactly joyful going to classes! Not fulfilled! You know what I'm saying? in this world you've got to enjoy what you do! Ikr

Don't mistake this for me hating education! Nah nah. I absolutely love education! I damn love knowledge! Gives me the thrills coke users get with coke - knowledge is my coke! Fires me up.

I like books, I like reading, Infact I believe every gentleman and lady should study more stuffs and know how the world works to appear sophisticated!

But hey I found it easier reading and understanding a book like 'how to make friends and influence people' than books like 'understanding the fundamentals of process control engineering' hahaha! I'm not Elon! Or DeGrasse Tyson (both are astrophysicists)! Grammar! Bear with me.

I am a people-oriented guy not a machine-oriented guy! Lol

At a time I took a 4-unit weighted chemistry course in the university CHM 202 : organic chemistry, i didn't attend classes, it was boring and if you school in Nigeria esp. public universities, you know how the system is na! If you be indomie or ajebutter and you enter public university - you go rugged when you dey commot as if you go fight civil war. (laughed out loud)

So I took it upon myself to study so as to cover up for like 40 hours o and still ended up with a D (equivalent of 8/20) lol! That day I just knew that I wasn't Arrhenius (Arrhenius was a guy who came to this world in the medieval age to read chemistry - postulated the law on electrolysis... Sorry if you don't what that means! some chemistry jargon¿)
What I knew was I'm Timothy Teeman and I have to be Teeman!

So I just said to myself, that I wasn't going to do what I didn't like.
So i freestyled in the university, enjoyed the experiences and all.
But I made the decision to Iive a free spirited life - work whenever I want, and that work is actually an hobby!

What you're reading now is work! Like work! Mental work(putting my thoughts into living words)! Not easy I must say!
But I'm sure you're enjoying it, I am too!

* * *
So right now, you've got to define your life! It's very necessary you do so and ask yourself what you really want? (maybe it's to spend some quality time with teeman - and if you're not my babe, i guess you have to pay me one way or the other, I prefer to deal in $ US) thanks!

To pinpoint this, let me share this with you
I love space and cosmology(don't be scared, just scientific term for space activities)! Y'all should follow Elon Musk and NASA's activities of recent. Their work gives me chills as chilled coca-cola on the tongue on a hot sunny day! I love coca-Cola like EA Adeboye once did! Warren Buffet still does.

So I went to YouTube and watched these videos of how men went into the moon in 1969(I wasn't alive then but my grandfather was)- Armstrong and Aldrin! So I imagined myself on the moon - you know what I saw? The earth looks like a small round blue pea from the moon.
Wow! I was like...that's it? This is everything?
Mehn you've gotta be yourself and do what you have to do! Infact the earth is just one of the numerous celestial bodies we have - a dot in the milky way galaxy ( kilonso? I told you i like books! Sorry)!

So Define what you really want! Aint you tired of trying to copy what others' do? I am tired! I want to be myself! And I'm super sure you're happy that I am being myself.

These guys we all admire are doing what they love doing, I have to do what I love doing - this is a perfect Jackpotian equation! (I meant Jackpot for short)

You do what you love, it's easy putting your time and energy into it because you love doing it! Then you get paid trillions of dollars, get famous, have Bill Clinton's autograph on his 'My Life' autobiography you bought, have a great life, have a dinner with Angela Merkel at Mercedes Headquarters, visit the Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un or even take the Queen out on a date to the Taj Mahal!

Define what you want!

As I write this! WFK clocks 79, I grew up listening to him! A great guy I must confess! But you know what? He loves to read, study, write and say the right things! And the benefits? Hundreds of millions listen to him - he's rich (even though he doesn't like publicity and rarely claims he is), famous, enjoys good relationships(has a fantastic wife) and enjoys a meaningful life.

Some people are paid to read - yeah you do know them - professors and corporate professionals!

A respected university Don of recent gave me an advice to go for a masters and phD. - well I hesitated in replying because I only thought I would acquire degrees if it really makes me happy you know!
If studying gives you more joy, then why not? Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Wharton sure 'll give you a joyful experience.

No one cares if I've read the whole books on earth or wooed the whole girls on earth or built the tallest buildings on earth or ate the best delicacies on earth or drunk the whole atlantic or met all the world leaders in the world or dined with the finest models or chilled with the greatest music stars- only what matters if it indeed matters - is the legacy you leave behind which is largely defined by you.

* * *

Guys, you've got to BE YOURSELF!
You do know this actually but I'm repeating for emphasis!

You love music, what are you waiting for? Momma's support or President Buhari's Memos? You've got all the time in the world! Get on.

If you have zero interest in books - no problem - we only need 100% interest in learning and mastering our crafts! Spend your time doing that.

I am a book guy! I really am! Trust me! My brain deals just fine with them! So I read all the time (if I'm not sleeping, eating, writing or getting paid for reading of course) - but I am really not a football player! Since my big toe got dislocated in secondary school, I bade football good bye - I love Play Stations tho but I'm not a pro! But that doesn't mean I won't whip you.. Hehehe!

So be yourself! That's it.

I can work anywhere and with anyone - chevron, shell, spaceX, entertainment industry, sports industry, politics, business, education, anywhere! It's ME that's working and I love to deal with people so anywhere people are found! That's my zone. The world is under my feet.
Energy!
Great Ideas!
Free-spiritedness!
Joy!
Enthusiasm! That's me.

* * *
I was shaving my beards in a local barbing salon, and one of the guys waiting to shave said something 'a man who can feed himself is a VC of himself' - it was an academic environment so the VC is the top guy. I just smiled.
That's it!
You're the entrepreneur of your life!
You're in charge of your life!
You've got 70, 80 or 120 years if you're lucky - that's all you've got to make life reasonable for you! Do what gives you Joy!
The earth is 4.5 billion years old (science says so), so whats 70 or 120 years in 4 500 000 000? Be Yourself.

After all this rants or advices or thesis or memos or letters or treatise or whatever it is to you.

Just Be yourself!

Family / Children's Day : A Hilarious Story Celebrating Children by teemanbastos(m): 7:26pm On May 27, 2020
May 27 is a day celebrating children and everything they represent.
This hilarious Mark Twain's story is dedicated to them, children are highly endowed with a lot of sense which is highly intriguing.
Enjoy!!!

Tom Sawyer's Aunt discovered that Tom absconded from school and gave him a punishment - to whitewash the fence of her house. cry

Tom Sawyer on the following weekend appeared on the sidewalk with a bucket of whitewash and a long-handled brush. He surveyed the fence, and all gladness left him. Thirty yards of board fence nine feet high to paint.

Sighing, he dipped his brush and passed it along the top plank. He did it again and compared the insignificant whitewashed streak with the continent of unwhitewashed fence, and sat down on a tree-box discouraged… embarassed

At this dark and hopeless moment an inspiration burst upon him! Nothing less than a great, magnificent inspiration. cheesy

He took up his brush and went tranquilly to work.

Ben Rogers a friend hove in sight presently — the very boy whose ridicule he had been dreading. Ben’s gait was a hop-skip-and-jump. He was eating an apple, and giving a long, melodious whoop, followed by a deep-toned ding-dong-dong, ding-dong-dong, for he was impersonating a steamboat.

“Stop her, sir! Ting-a-ling-ling!” He drew up slowly toward the sidewalk.

Tom went on whitewashing — paying no attention to the steamboat.

Ben stared a moment and then said: “Hi-yi ! You’re up a stump, ain’t you!”

No answer. Tom surveyed his last touch with the eye of an artist, then he gave his brush another gentle sweep.

Ben ranged up alongside him. Tom’s mouth watered for the apple, but he stuck to his work.

Ben said: “Hello, old chap, you got to work, hey?”

Tom wheeled suddenly and said: “Why, it’s you, Ben! I warn’t noticing.” angry

“Say,” said Ben, “I’m going a-swimming. Don’t you wish you could? But of course you’d druther work —wouldn’t you? Course you would!”

Tom contemplated the boy a bit, and said: “What do you call work?” shocked

“Why, ain’t that work?”

Tom resumed his whitewashing, and answered carelessly: “Well, maybe it is, and maybe it ain’t. All I know, is, it suits Tom Sawyer.”

“Oh come, now, you don’t mean that you like it?”

The brush continued to move.

“Like it? Well, I don’t see why I oughtn’t to like it. Does a boy get a chance to whitewash a fence every day?”

That put the thing in a new light. Ben stopped nibbling his apple. Tom swept his brush daintily back and forth — stepped back to note the effect, added a touch here and there — criticised the effect again — Ben watching every move and getting more and more interested, more and more absorbed. Presently he said:

“Say, Tom, let me whitewash a little.”

Tom considered, was about to consent; but he altered his mind:

“No — no — I reckon it wouldn’t hardly do, Ben. You see, Aunt Polly’s awful particular about this fence — right here on the street, you know. If it was the back fence I wouldn’t mind and she wouldn’t. Yes, she’s awful particular about this fence. I reckon there ain’t one boy in a thousand, maybe two thousand, that can do it the way it’s got to be done.”

“No — is that so? Oh come, now — lemme just try. Only just a little — I’d let you, if you was me, Tom.”

“Ben, I’d like to, honest injun; but Aunt Polly — well, Jim wanted to do it, but she wouldn’t let him; Sid wanted to do it, and she wouldn’t let Sid. Now don’t you see how I’m fixed? If you was to tackle this fence and anything was to happen to it — “

“Oh, shucks, I’ll be just as careful. Now lemme try. Say — I’ll give you the core of my apple.”

“Well, here — No, Ben, now don’t. I’m afeard — “

“I’ll give you all of it!”

Tom gave up the brush with reluctance in his face, but alacrity in his heart. And while the Ben worked and sweated in the sun, Tom sat on a barrel in the shade close by, dangled his legs, munched his apple, and planned the slaughter of more innocents. cool

There was no lack of material; boys happened along every little while; they came to jeer, but remained to whitewash. By the time Ben was fagged out, Tom had traded the next chance to Billy Fisher for a kite, in good repair; and when he played out, Johnny Miller bought in for a dead rat and a string to swing it with — and so on, and so on, hour after hour. And when the middle of the afternoon came, from being a poor poverty-stricken boy in the morning, Tom was literally rolling in wealth. smiley

He had besides the things before mentioned, twelve marbles, part of a jews-harp, a piece of blue bottle-glass to look through, a spool cannon, a key that wouldn’t unlock anything, a fragment of chalk, a glass stopper of a decanter, a tin soldier, a couple of tadpoles, six fire-crackers, a kitten with only one eye, a brass door-knob, a dog-collar — but no dog — the handle of a knife, four pieces of orange-peel, and a dilapidated old window sash. wink

He had had a nice, good, idle time all the while had plenty of company — and the fence had three coats of whitewash on it! If he hadn’t run out of whitewash he would have bankrupted every boy in the village. grin grin

Trust you enjoyed it.
